    Hello everyone!
    I wanted to give you a quick update about our decks. We recently made a change from a Patreon model to a pay-per-service model. This means that our decks are now available for purchase on our website rather than on Patreon. We made this change so that you don't need to subscribe to Patreon to purchase the deck and then stay subscribed to receive updates.
    When you purchase one of our decks, you will receive any updates made to it directly in your account, forever. Plus, we offer a 30-day trial period for you to try out the deck. If for any reason you're not satisfied, simply email our support team for a refund - no questions asked.
    Interested? Check out the complete list of decks we offer at: refold.la/decks
    Thanks for your support!

    I got the german deck but yes, incredibly helpful. I've done german for 3 months since janurary, while I don't really understand podcasts properly, sometimes i get surprised and catch a few sentneses where I understand everything. Generally i know roughly what they are talking about, but it's awesome when I learn a new word from anki, and then come across it the next day through a podcast or video. Very much looking forward to my progress in the next year.

    This deck is really useful. The only problem I have with it is that the translations sometimes don't match the target word - rather they use a synonym for the translation that is given when the actual translation would have been better. e.g. Carecer = to be without and the example is "Él carece de sentimientos humanos.". The translation is "he is devoid of human feelings" - When I paste this into Spanishdict it translates it as "he lacks human feelings" and the direct translation for the word carecer=to lack. So sometimes it's confusing when you are learning the meaning of a word and the example sentence translated that they give doesn't match the word you are learning.
    This is just a minor annoyance and overall the deck is very useful. It's best to combine this deck with Spanishdict to get another translation and check the conjugation along with other examples in my opinion. Definitely worth the 20usd though.

    I would love to see the example sentence on the front of the card below the target word (without the translation). I feel like that would be better for comprehension, especially if a word can have more than 1 meaning. Also, I'm not sure if it's possible or not (not too familiar with Anki), but variable sounds would be useful, since full speed Spanish would be too quick for a beginner. For example, the example on the website for hacer (at 4:00) is way too quick (so quick, I didn't even hear the "hacer" word).

      About a year ago, I made a (very long) tutorial for Anki. We actually have some "alternate layouts" you can use. ruclips.net/video/Y1excIuX9KI/видео.htmlsi=Hgt5n8qxku6Ee_mf&t=755
      It takes a little bit to set up, but once you do it, it's done.
      We decided to do word cards for the 1K decks since the point is to be able to recognize those super common words without needing tons of context, but we also know that sentence cards are very useful and totally valid. But, we have to do one or the other 😛
      As for the audio, it's not possible to do "variable speed" in a streamlined way. Again, we had to make a choice, and we decided to go with more natural audio. As a beginner, it can be very fast. But, if you're immersing and looking out for those words, your ears will adapt more quickly than you think.
      I hope you find the deck useful!
      - Ben

    Feel like
    No tienes derecho a hacer eso*
    Would be more common and natural than saying
    No tienes derecho a hacer esto
    A difference in customs in what people call this/that
    The latter is more common in English. The sentence is still valid and works in some contexts, but the former is more commonly said for the same instances.

    • @andypandi2332
      @andypandi2332 3 года назад +4

      Hola, siento que depende del contexto. Más que sonar natural, la connotación de la oración es lo que importa. Decir "no tienes derecho a hacer esto" se refiere a una acción en específico y en una situación donde ambas personas saben a lo que "esto" se refiere. En cuanto a, "no tienes derecho a hacer eso", en la mayoría de los casos se entiende como una prohibición o algo más general como una regla. Esto lo confirmé con otro nativo de español. Espero haber aclarado la duda :)

    • @furasuko
      @furasuko 3 года назад +3

      @@andypandi2332 Sí, es así como dices. Yo había pensado inmediatamente en que no se puede hablar de "eso" si no se sabe a que nos estamos refiriendo, mientras que "esto" normalmente es algo que se quiere remarcar o dar énfasis en el momento. Por esa misma razón, puedes usar la segunda frase para remarcale al otro que te escuche bien porque lo que sigue está prohibido, pero no con la segunda.
      Espero que esto haya aclarado un poco!

    It isn't clear what else I need? Is this for anki? Is it stand alone? What am I buying? What exactly do I get?

    • @Refold
      @Refold  Год назад +2

      Good question!
      The Anki deck is a high quality collection of the 1000 most useful words for getting started with Spanish. We've removed words that are the same in English (restaurant and restaurante, for example) so you can focus on the words that will take you the furthest.
      Check out our free Quickstart guide (refold.la/quickstart?targetLanguage=spa) or 5-day email course (refold.la/ and scroll down a bit) to get more step-by-step guidance!
      Hope that helps a bit,

    Idk what to think about the "not ready for tv shows/true content" part. Imho you should be immersing in native content before you even think about learning the language.
    Deck seems cool however.

    • @Refold
      @Refold  3 года назад +5

      Agreed! I didn't have that mindset when I first started learning and it seriously slowed me down. This deck is meant to be used in conjunction with native content immersion and is tailored to help you understand native content more quickly.

      @@Refold I see, then I may have misunderstood this part, because the way it sounded to me was: Deck -> immersion. While I think it should look like this
      immersion -> infinity

    • @Refold
      @Refold  3 года назад +2

      @@Radescha Sorry for the confusion. The ES1K Philosophy section starting at 03:06 explains that Anki is not a good tool to use in isolation and that it needs to be used in conjunction with grammar study and immersion. Those three things combined are what builds comprehension quickly.
