I got one today. Absolutely love it. Lots of low end torque. Great for riding in town. I almost got the xsr900- so glad I didn't. This bike has plenty of power. Plenty! I got on the interstate and got it up to 80 - very stable, some vibration but not bad at all. This bike excels on winding country roads, of which there are miles of these roads where I live.
Great review thank you. When the first pictures appeared in the magazines of the XSR700 I wasn't keen. However, now that I've actually seen one in the flesh (so to speak) they look much better than I thought.
I've been anticipating this bike for months now. I am disappointed that it's not going to be available in North America this year. I was so eager to see a review that I watched the German language version just to see footage of the bike in action. Ha! I was so happy to see that you made a version in English as well! Good job, good footage. I also am not crazy about the large radiator. The new, liquid cooled Triumph Bonnevilles and Thruxtons have managed to integrate a radiator that isn't super obvious. Hopefully Yamaha learns from their example.
+fredthebarber I agree, that radiator sticks out like a sore thumb (not a big fan of speedo either). Aside from those two things, I think the XSR700 looks amazing. The new Bonnies have managed to integrate them so well. Old style touches, with modern tech.
Great review on the XSR700 thanks guys personally I wasn't that impressed with the responsiveness of the MT07 after riding it in standard trim they have this giant stopper in the airbox for ADRs or rego but I'm sure you can overcome that with a K&N filter lets see if the do an XSR900 now that would be a weapon
Great review but I agree with you radiator should be black and exhaust should be of a better quality and sounds but I suppose it is all down to price! Great bike I love mine!
It looks very nice indeed. I love the retro on, featured here in green with a tiny screen. I have to say though, if it's this kind of bike, why would anyone want it higher than the MT07? In fact, why not buy an MT07 and leave it there? Mind you, I am only about 165-170CM tall, so I suppose I would prefer the 805mm seat height over the 850mm seat height. is that true though? Is the XSR really THAT high? That seems like a BMW adventure bike kind of height to me. Did he make a mistake?
My bmw k75 1995 740cc have slightly better numbers on the engine and is a look alike of those "new" bikes... Weird to see manufacturers going back to basic motorcycles after all this orgy of devices and horsepower....

Jack D Does reducing the seat height affect the ground of the bike?
good review.
Nothing straight about the Japanese. The women were wild, but I digress. I lived there for over three years.
These look great in green.
Good review.

Is this available in America? Also how much woukd it cost if it is?
Call Yamaha Motors.
Is it better than the Ducati Scrambler???

Radiator is ugly, triumph did a much better job on that
Odd definition of "retro"
Stop saying funny. Even when I lived in Germany they knew the word FUN. Funny is something like a joke. Fun is riding a bike or playing tennis.
