Great video. I've been struggling with carrots this spring. I read the Lean Farm by Ben Hartman and he recommends doing 3 rows in a 30 inch bed, so I tried that. I usually do 5-6 rows in a bed like Curtis Stone and JM Fortier do. But with only 3 rows the weed pressure is just out of control so I'm going to go back to doing 5 rows for carrots in a bed.

Thanks! That’s a great book! Yea I agree. I don’t see the point in doing only 3 rows. The carrots grow just fine with 5-6 rows and keeps weed pressure down.

I've got a tip that works really well. I sow my carrot seeds then I water, throw Agribon over the row flat on the ground like you have the tarp, then I water the with the Agribon over the bed to get the fabric wet. This keeps the bed wet and basically makes you not need to water for the entire germination period. I get perfect germination this way.

How are you weeding the carrots at cotyledon stage at scale?

We plant in dense rows so that the carrots outcompete any weeds. We never have to weed carrot beds because of that

Wow thats fantastic. We're planting 4 rows on about a 4ft wide bed and the weeds are hell. 300ft beds spaced for eventual tractor cultivation until adolescent stage it is a slog to keep them 'weed free"
