Fellow scottish folks: I'll be showcasing Strata at Dundee Contemporary Arts' 'Drop in and Play' on the 25th of May! This will be new (currently unreleased) build. Come have a chat and a play.
Imagine looking outside your window before you go to bed and seeing a huge structure of platforms and ramps, with a massive golf hole at the top, and you see some idiot in a helicopter swinging around a wrecking ball for no reason
Funny because I had the same idea for a game, but with less thought behind it, my goal wasn't unpredictability, just creating a fun sandbox. And instead of a helicopter with a wrecking ball in a sidescroller setting, it's a top down hack and slash with a small character and a big sword, and the swords momentum can fling the character itself away.
It is very surprising to me how little recognition you have for such detailed content with unique ideas and great commentary. I greatly enjoy your explanations and how you document the development process. It was very cool to link your thoughts to other difficult games such as Getting Over It and comparing what they have in common to be "hard". Great video.
Thanks very much! It's been a bit of a mental barrier to get over that *one very successful video*, but after some reflection I'm happy just making content that I'm proud of and that appeals to folk like yourself. Numbers will come, I believe!
@@I-OMusic anyone can have a successful video, but holding an audience is the impressive part and thats what youre working towards. be happy with what you do and people will come naturally. again, great video and amazing content
Love this idea! And I'm certainly not one to complain about a physics infodump. It's really cool how adding a couple physics objects can add so much complexity!
Ummm, acktually, the bigger ball tends to droop lower. While they may have the same mass, having the smaller ball on top fits better with interactions and avoids pinching.
Pinching is an interesting concept, I assume you're talking about the ball getting stuck dead in a corner? I actually like the challenge that poses in theory, but in practice I did have to add a system that detects the ball getting stuck and nudge it slightly
make the wall jump like bouncers the player click space and bounce and space and doesn't lose momentum so its like timing when to click space so you don't lose momentum

Bro spent so much time to say “I added physics to the game”
Optimal youtuber moment

I like how you went from waxing poetic about chaos and physics into game design specifics to ... "instill fear in the player."

oh that idea is both hilarious and awesome. Would love to see it expanded on!
Bro has that professional dev log vibe

Helicopter golf looks like so much fun
this is awesome! side note but i love the sound of the golf ball
Thank you! Building the system for that one was real fun, original sound linked in description

I am not a gamer...as you know. Just a patron. But this game looks impossibly hard. I cried just watching the play.
The new Strata character model reminds me of the blue egg-thief guys from Spyro. Appropriate! Since they were very fast.
dude, I had rage moments just from watching this game. of course I want it on steam!
writing the words
Patricia shout-out! Woo!
I think the wrecking ball should atleast be a slightly different color. my thought -yellow or grey
Agreed, getting this game to read clearly visually has been an interesting challenge so far!
Love this! #interacting with the video to drive up engagement
awesome idea :)
