    When I was a kid my grampa watched Carson every single night and his laugh reverberated through the walls. I’ll never forget his laugh. God bless you, Johnny ❤️ for making my precious grandfather laugh. I’m watching these clips to remind me of those nights.

    I am dead serious, you just can't help laughing right along with John at the incredibly fun expression on that most adorable baby orangutang's face, John Carson was not only priceless but matchless as well! You can see by all of those who have followed him! None of them even came close!

      Carson or many of the guests he had. Dean Martin, Robin Williams, George Gobel, Sammy Davis Jr, Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball, Bob Hope, etc. They're all gone

    Here I am at 12 Midnight watching Johnny's Repeats 20-30 yrs later, 'instead of' watching what's On Rt Now... Colbert, Fallon and Kimmel! Boy Are YOU Missed to This day, Johnny! ♥️♥️♥️

      Mia fio Believe it or not that clip was from 41 years ago, not 20 or 30yrs ago. I'm in the same boat as you, the "late" shows are playing right now...but I'm watching old Carson clips on RUclips instead. Cheers.

      Think I just found some new friends. I'm with you guys. The garbage on late night TV is sickening, it's not even entertainment or even slightly funny. Watching Johnny do the Great Carnac and calling Ed McMahon almighty Yak breath!! Classic!

    I was fortunate enough to have seen this particular episode on the first time it was broadcast. I was married at the time....and I remember my husband and I laughing right along with Johnny. That little monkey was so darned cute. Johnny's been called the "King of Late Night TV"....and I entirely agree. There's been nobody quite like him before or since. Miss him lots.

    I don't remember anyone thinking Johnny Carson was a genius when he was on the air. He was just there, the guy who came on after everyone else. But it turns out he must have been, because no one has come close to matching him.

      We knew he was a genius back then. That’s why he was called the King of Late Night even then. His longevity with the show was a testament unto itself.
      Yep you’re right - Johnny Carson was an integral part of our lives!

    You could have the worst day ever, where nothing goes right and you just want to end it all....but then it's 11:30pm and you turn on the tv and there was a show that could make all that day's troubles just fade away as if they never happened. I miss Johnny Carson for those reasons, there will never be another like him, and late night has never been as funny since.

      My feelings exactly. I used to look forward to his show all day and never missed it because you always knew you were going to have some great laughs. I always say, "When Johnny Carson left, he took late night TV with him."

      I'm too young to remember his show but I've discovered him here on RUclips. The joy in his eyes while holding the orangutans is priceless and so so genuine. I can't wait to continue watching videos of him.

    Johnny was a genius I remember sneaking in my brothers bedroom putting a blanket over the TV to watch Johnny and getting caught because my laughter 😂😂 was loud....

    This illustrates how different the times were and how cool Johnny could be. Johnny's sidekick, Ed McMahon, is clearly liquored, and gets defensive when Johnny calls him on it.

    I'm in Australia and we didn't have Carson on tv here. But i've watched many episodes of the show on youtube over the last couple of years and fallen in love with this show! I like 80s Letterman, too, but Johnny was very likeable and had better guests

      And the orangutan then does a *second* Benny stare of turning his head and rolling the eyes exactly the same way. The fact that Johnny idolized Jack so much could only make him really see the hilarity in that.

    I used to love 💕 to watch the tonight show especially when they had the animals on! The animals were funny with Johnny when he held them or try to hold them or touch them! 😂🐵🐯🐨 I miss the the show very much! 😀

    Don't mean to sound depressing but I'd rather watch (and I Do!), All of Johnny's Repeats Every nite on Antenna TV, than to watch Any Of the late nite hosts, or their guests, who R Alive today! RIP Johnny..

    there are and have been many fine late night talk show hosts but there are 2 in my mind that will never be surpassed Jack Parr and Johnny Carson ...thankfully we now have RUclips and can appreciate and enjoy them years later

    I was actually at that show in 1977 ..
    That show was taped at 4:00 p.m. in McMahon was already 3 sheets...
    I believe ed McMahon and Jonny Carson both gave me autographs after the show there was up backstage meeting meet up and Carson was drinking I believe it was vodka trying to catch up with McMahon who is extremely intoxicated but very nice to me

      Carson loved " the blow " too that kept him sharp ! Buddy Rich, " Doc " ( who is STILL with us born on 7/7/27 ! What a life he's packed in 91 years ! ( Ed just was a drinker that's why he got a bit " sloppy " , that's what made it funny !!

    McMahon was involved in many reconnaissance missions and flew a total of 85 combat missions. For his effort, he earned six air medals. Ed McMahon retired from the Marines in 1966 with the rank of colonel.

    It's great to have all of these up on RUclips. I will always love seeing Johnny Carson and the wonderful things he did on his show. A lot of them I remember seeing again when they were shown the first time on TV.

    I used watch Johnny Carson with these animals and he was so funny around these animals. Just watch him with these animals it is worth the time to watch and relax if you are not laughing.
