  • This house is unique amongst Indo-Portuguese house types, where the structure of the palace shows an adaptation to Indian customs. The chapel, at the entrance, reminds one of a Hindu altar. The rear of the house highlights another aspect linked to the Hindu vasary. Starting from a gallery - veranda, there is another, extending perpendicularly over the garden. So that, even though the vasary form is present in the house, it melts into this much more complex layout, which was designed for leisure hours and which presently serves as a restaurant. Tanto eu como o meu pai e a minha mãe estivemos neste lugar há muito tempo, o meu pai era funcionário de alfandega, tive imensas saudades deste tempo que passei neste lugarejo.

Your house is good but could be maintained better . Pls show us the layout of the house apart from the furniture . I am interested in viewing different types of floor plans . Camera work could be better , choose better background music .

Nice video. Thank you. However the music track doesn't fit for a Portuguese Goan history

I understand your disappointment, the original track was different but unfortunately YT removed the soundtrack due to alleged copyright.

Beautiful video except for the jarring background music. Could you consider losing it?

The current owner (Gama Ferrão family) owns the place due to nepotism and corruption. It was originally built by a Portuguese nobleman-turned-priest (the Dean of Quepem) who then left it to the Church in his will, and then it was used as an orphanage run by nuns. The current archbishop (now Cardinal, Filipe Neri Ferrão) then evicted the nuns and the orphans, and gave it to his relatives to be turned into a hotel.
