For those of you wondering, the machine in question is a 360 degree full body scan used to create digital doubles.
I got that from the context in the movie. Maybe they were trusting the audience to pick up on more than you would expect them to.
There's a "Rule of 3" in filmmaking - if you want the majority of audiences to pick something up, you need to mention it 3 times. Preferably both visually and verbally. Strangers on a Train is a perfect example of this.
I totally felt like it was brought up at least 2 times (trying to remember if there was a third), first with the stuntman himself saying it can be used in deep fakes and then as they were putting the dots on his face later on
There’s always the exposition scene in movies, like in Raiders of the Lost Ark when Indy explains how the Staff of Ra works so audiences won’t get confused later during the scene where he uses the Medallion.
That what the movie pretty much said. At least that’s what I got after watching it.
I didn’t need them to spoon feed it to me, this isn’t a documentary.
It feels like Grace reviewed the context of the movie way more than the entertainment value of it.
If she wants a good documentary about stunts its on peacock.
The fall guy movie is for having great fun at the movies with some great chemistry between the lead pair.
To be honest, I don't think people are going to watch that movie to learn about cinema... People are having fun and that's about it!
& that's about it
Trueeeeee
She became so political she lost sight of why people go to watch movies, and that's to have fun and escape reality sometimes
You missed her point. By "learn about" she didn't mean clinically or academically, she meant contextually and narratively. Creed films are fun AND you FEEL like You've learned something about boxers and boxing, even though you haven't learned a single real world thing about either. The same can be said about Top Gun and jet fighting, Wall Street and the stick market etc. This film lacked a sense of cinematic authority about the subject matter it hung it narrative on. Glad it flopped 😆
@@o82774 I think you miss the point of the movie and to be happy because a movie flop shows the kind of person you are sadly, by the way we can tell you didn't even wat h the movie if you said that because just like inncreed you do leave feeling like you learn something about stunt doubles and how movies work even tough you learn very little inn reality
I don't know why Grace is so upset, it doesn't pretend to be a documentary. You have to separate your expectations from the film itself.
Movies are allowed to just be fun, it's not always got to be that deep
Agreed. That’s how the Mario movie was as simple entertaining fun and that’s the type of movie I wanna see more as well,
Its very clear that Grace thought this movie would primarily focus on the stunt industry when that was never gonna be the case. It's an action rom-com first where the male lead just happens to be a stuntman
Exactly and the actor is the bad one for fun.
yeah it seems she's bringing in alot of baggage most people wont
I’m guessing she never watched the show either - it absolutely lived up to the premise of that show and a franchise is born
I love grace but the fact she found something to be offended by in this innocent action packed rom com of pure fun, seemed like she was desperately searching for things not to like.!
Who 'happens' to use his skills to fight back against the criminals.
This movie is actually so much fun in cinema. A great kickoff to the summer movie season.
Imma need you to select some traffic lights real quick
@@johnomiesh whatever that means.

They explained what that machine was straight after with dialogue
Is it The Volume?
I think Grace was expecting a different movie. I thought she was spewing nonsense for the majority of this review. Ryan & Emily’s characters DID have chemistry with one another.
When I saw the thumbnail, I was like "Grace, what is that look??? You're making me nervous..."😂
Same here. Poor Grace. She wanted to make this so bad..
🤣🤣🤣Big time. My goodness, the all important thumbnail vibes.
Grace thinks people go to this movie to learn abt the business.. instead of just to go have fun with a lil movie.
It sounds like you're reviewing the movie based on what it should have been instead of what it actually is.
I think Grace is looking for a different movie… more of a documentary on stunts rather than the romantic comedy. Maybe if you didn’t take this movie to seriously and took it for the actual movie that it was trying to present, maybe you would have enjoyed it more.
Exactly. This movie is a romcom first, not a movie about the stunt industry
Agree 100% my audience LOL’d throughout all of it. And there were even some Ooohhs and AAaahhs during the stunts.
It’s an action romcom, not some serious drama/documentary…
Yeah, she's expecting documentary or Hollywood drama, when this is just a fun party.
That explains the lame dialogue!@@babarsuhail5678
I thought it was very obvious from the trailers what the movie was about. It was a stuntman trying to uncover a mystery while having an issue with his relationship
saw the movie last night and had a blast. absolutely hilarious and such an authentic love letter to both stunt actors AND movies as a whole
Side note, The Fall Guy is the first movie to credit a 'Stunt Designer' instead of Stunt Coordinator after the producers met with all the unions to retitle the role so that people understand it's as creative and artistic a job as Production Designer, Costume Designer, Makeup and Hair Designer etc. For me, I didn't see it as an ad just for 87N but as a pitch movie to the cinema community and the world to give Stunt people their recognition. Also, there were a LOT of stunt people in roles in the movie.. the guy strapping RG into the car = the stunt guy who does the driving, ATJ new stunt guy = the stunt guy that does the combat work etc etc.. they're peppered throughout.
Come on...this is a reboot of a lighthearted TV series from the 80's with Lee Majors. So funny, back then even the original Fall Guy was replaced by professional stuntmen to deliver his scenes 😂 what did you expect, Grace? Lean Back and try to have fun...
I saw the movie today. I mean I agree that it has some problems but I have to say it was so much fun and I had a great time nonetheless! And I actually liked the fact that the movie didn’t take itself so seriously it added to the fun factor for me.
I just saw the movie yesterday. I loved it. Ryan Gosling is carrying this movie.
Me too. 🥰
Grace Tarantino quite literally has a film about stunt people, it’s called Death Proof!
She didn’t like Bullet train so I’m taking this with a grain of salt.
Bullet Train was not a very good film.
Bullet Train was shit
I loved bullet train! I wish I’d seen it at the cinema. I rarely agree with graces reviews so if she isn’t a fan, I generally enjoy it. Love her business and news content though.
I disagree but thats my opinion. @@Kthomasritchie
@@Kthomasritchie It was an excellent one.
Bruh why did i know she wasnt gonna like this movie 🤦🤡
I saw the Fall Guy and loved it! It was funny, entertaining, and impressive. I'm gonna see it again. I couldn't disagree with you more Grace. Why would I want to see this movie again if it was bad?
"Disrespectful to the stunt community..." 🤣
I don't know, Grace. I think this movie was a lot of fun. The people in my screening were having a blast with it. My only real complaints are the plot was a little thin and the runtime was a bit long. Other than that, it's great. A nice start to the summer movie season.
Mi wife who doesn’t care about filmmaking or the industry loved the movie
the reason I want to see this movie has nothing to do with hollywood, or stunt actors. I literally just want to see Ryan Gosling in a comedy. The Nice Guys was like crack to me, his performance in Barbie was incredible, Goslin's comedy chops are amazing and I need more.
I loved The Fall Guy, and I went in not expecting to learn and ended up having a lot of fun.
This is not a how they make the sausage, but about giving a spotlight to the stunts
I already saw it, it was a 7 out of 10 for me, an entertaining visual fest with a story full of clichés. But some of Grace comments are truly bizarre, she takes everything so literally and seriously, and the start to judge on her own morals?!
The Nice Guys is an incredible film, to use his Cinema score as some proof of steel... Your favorite film - Poor Things got an A cinema score, but you never used it as a defense for that one hahaha.
And Aaron Taylor-Johnson is one of the most beautiful people on Earth. Period.
Also, the Dune score was not to make fun of it....
I might fall from a tall building, I might roll a brand-new car,
'Cause I'm the unknown stuntman that made Redford such a star.
Stephanie made this film before she got the Oscar nomination and was cast in this before everything everywhere all at once came out
She was cast in October 2022, so after EEAO came out
@@KPlaysSports123but still before her nomination
Aaron Taylor-Johnson was great in Bullet Train and I loved him as Kick Ass!
“Great” is a strong word
Even in his sixties, Tom Cruise continues to wow audiences by doing dangerous stunts. Still, he doesn’t go “all the way” in many cases; he does have a stunt double, whom he has worked with on several major action films including Jack Reacher and Knight and Day. Casey O’Neill is Cruise’s stunt double and takes over for the actor when something becomes a bit too risky for the veteran star to attempt.
Not interested in this movie, but how the Nice Guys got such a poor audience score is baffling… That movie is incredible!
I am not surprised because I have friends who think that every new netflix movie is the best movie ever and when I tried watching The Nice guy with them they were so not into it.
I mean 79% is not even that bad that's like above average 😅
@@santiagosanchez7559 I know, but according to Grace it is lol. It was one of my favorite movies the year it came out, super underrated!
B- is about right for the Nice Guys.
Fun fact, I did not like The Nice Guys AT ALL. Thought about walking out of the theatre even. It was sad because I should have loved it, the premise and actors were right up my alley. That's just the way it is sometimes.
I say it last week (I'm Dutch) and I loved it! Super funny and well made my friend who isn't a big film guy loved it. And the theater was laughing a lot. One of the best films of 2024 imo
On the one hand, I didn’t like The Nice Guys as much as Shane Black’s earlier movies. On the other hand, Grace Randolph and I just cannot seem to agree on much these days. I think I’m still gonna check this out.
Hee, I call her "my frenemy Grace Randolph" to my family because when I disagree with her...I reallllly disagree with her!
How is 79 percent a horrible audience reaction 😂
Only in Graceland
She meant the Cinemascore
@@katonasanyi3735 oh, you mean a B-? How is that bad? Is The Nice Guys applying for college's?
Grace as always been consistent in saying a good score is a minimum of b+@SonnyFrisco
Tarantino DID make a movie about the stunt community. It was called DEATH PROOF, and it co-starred Zoë Bell. It was awesome.
The reasons Grace gives for not liking movies are ridiculous...
This time, the movie is "bad" because "there were no stunt people in acting roles."
no she just said it would have been cool if smaller acting roles had gone to actual stunt people in a film about a stunt man
you know what's funny is that there actually were stunt people in small acting roles that I noticed lol. if you watch Ryan's recent Jimmy Kimmel interview, he brings them out. Then, when you see the movie, you'll spot them acting.
Me and my partner loved this movie.
Edit!! The dog was amazing! Loved the fact the dog only responded to French commands
They did that in CSI when Nick took care of a police dog, french only?
I work in the industry and I went to see this film with a bunch of people who are working on the film I’m currently on, and we all had a blast. It’s just a fun time, nothing serious. A good bit of goofy fun.
This movie is 75-85% awesome! Whatever it lacks is irrelevant cause most of it is great to me. I'm gonna easily watch it again.
The movie was great. I laughed and laughed! I enjoyed it so much, I plan to see it again in theaters.
Ditto!
Saw the movie earlier tonight and loved it!! Luckily the things that disappointed Grace didn’t bother me at all. I wanted to see a light hearted romantic action movie and it delivered. If it had actually been a movie about stunt performers, then I would’ve been disappointed. I’d watch a documentary about the stunt industry, but that’s not what I wanted from this movie. The Fall Guy did make me wonder if the stunt industry will ever get a category at the Academy Awards, it’s long overdue!
Well like the producer said, you gotta hide the message in the sexy bacon. And the audience are dogs 😂.
My thought while watching this movie is that Gosling, Blunt and Leitch have all gotten a lot of chances to breakout to the next level of stardom but haven’t been able to pull it off.
Completely forgot that Blunt at one point was Mary Poppins.
After bullet train, I knew you would dislike this movie. You just don’t click with David leitch as a director.
Aaron Taylor Johnson was amazing in Bullet Train. My favorite movie of his.
Pr was so desperate because nobody would watch it without it.
Damn.
Studios can't win can they
Promote a movie a lot
-You're desperate
Don't promote it at all
-You think it's bad lol
PR was excess
They are following the Barbie roll out.
“nobody would watch a movie without marketing” is not the genius take u might think it is
Except the Nice Guys is phenomenal and has gotten a great following and recognition FINALLY!!!
WE NEED STUNT CATEGORIES AT THE OSCARS!
I honestly love how much you got from the zombie land experience lol ugh I want to be a small role in a movie 😂
I think this is the first time I've ever fully disagreed with a Grace review. While I might disagree with her opinions, usually her objective thoughts align with mine (not the case here). Absolutely no shade to Grace, but I'm glad I saw the movie before watching this review, because I think it would have hurt my experience. Currently my favorite 2024 movie!
Some of it was filmed in my home town (they closed down Sydney Harbour Bridge to do that scene) so I’m still keen to see it despite the negatives.
Wait, am I the only one who thought The Nice Guys was incredible!?!
Nope. There's a lot of us out there.
I love it but found it better on second and subsequent viewings. I expect that The Fall Guy will soon gain a similar cult streaming following.
I'm not sure why you feel the need to be offended for comic con ppl, but every time they played the dune parody theme my theater found it funnier each time, as for the film it was a great look behind the camera for those who might never see a film get made. A few ppl might get turned off by deaths around films but it does shine a light on the Rust shooting with Alec Baldwin.
What?! This was fun. Gosling, Blunt, explosions, the dog. I understand maybe it's not for everyone, but it's good fun.
Just walked out of this! Amazing movie, 100% sit through the credits and see the actural stunts! How can Oscar’s now not give a stunt awards? It’s alot of fun and highlights a under appreciated aspect of EVERY MOVIE.
Regardless of how “good” it is, support this movie! It’s very important to a part of the industry that makes every action movie possible.
79% audience reaction is bad what? 😭🤣
I saw this back in late April. I think you are in the minority here, Grace. It wasn't meant to be an education in stunts and I think you are underestimating audiences. My full cinema enjoyed it too. I avoided the trailers, so it was great for me. Stop watching trailers and you might not be spoiled. Wonderful love letter to stunt men and women in a classic rom com action film. Gosling and Blunt had lovely chemistry and Gosling was stunning. So much fun!
I'm so looking forward to this, going on Monday 🎉 make next week good.
Emily Blunt ✔️
Ryan Gosling✔️
Crazy stunts ✔️
Loved the trailer ✔️
Enjoyed the show back when✔️
Not much else to watch✔️😐
Oh well I'm happy, it looks like a repeat viewer to me!
Ariana Debose is an Oscar winner and she was also treated like a glorified extra in Argylle
But what kind of tomato are you going to give it?
The "Nice guys" is a severely underrated movie.
Why didn't they make Blunt's character a former stunt woman like in the original? It would make sense to the script since the ACTUAL DIRECTOR is a former stunt man turned director and it would explain why she is so athletic and a trained fighter.
Fun movie. The surprise at the end was 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Seen some of this. Gosling and blunts chemistry is 🔥
Totally disagree with Grace.
I enjoyed the film. The only thing I felt was the film was taking too long to cut from a scene. And the jokes were less as compared to a film like The Nice guys.
This film was made up of Australian crew members and cast. It was made in Sydney. Not Hollywood.
Grace, 87 North production’s is David Leitch and Kelly Mcormick Directing and Producing partners together. They founded the company. Also the produced a TB series called Action on Peacock that showcases stunt people in great detail. Definitely worth watching.
Thank you for all that you do.
I’m gonna give The Fall Guy a chance it looks fun!
CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH THIS. SO GOOD ❤❤ THANK YOU GRACE
When dune soundtrack kicked in I laughed so hard 😂
This movie was a blast!! My whole theater giggled all the way through it. Definitely is worth the money and a trip to your local movie theatre.
I'm going to see The Fall Guy this Saturday and I'm getting tickets to see Glen Powell in Hit Man for later this month. May is shaping up to be fun!
I’ll never understand Graces’s blindness when it comes to Aaron Taylor Johnson 😩
I hope Grace is wrong, I really want this to be a 2024 movie to remember, considering I recently rewatched Nice Guys and thought it was a much better film than I remembered. 🤞
I loved The Nice Guys. Highly underrated.
MINOR SPOILER AHEAD
Between this and The Garfield Movie, I find it hilarious that Hannah Waddingham is playing two different movie villains this month.
The movie was so much fun!! Love, love, love it!
I have to say, as a simple movie-goer, I loved it! Comedic timing was great, and loved the story line with the surprises
Did she even realize it's based on a light action-comedy TV show about a guy paying his rent with a side job? "Why so serious" SMH
There are many jobs (particularly in the trades and sports) that involve pain and risk of personal injury. I'm sure the reasons people do these jobs are as diverse as the jobs themselves.
Thanks for sharing Grace! ☺️🍿🎥 I'm interested to see this film...😉
THANKS for this!!! LOVED "The Offer!"
Stunt community has Hooper! And Cannonball Run!
I really loved The Nice Guys. And i'm not even a big fan of comedies.
Grace, you're becoming too much of an insider. You saw the movie was about a stuntman and wanted it to be a documentary or a love letter to stuntmen and Hollywood. You didn't take the movie for what it is and enjoy the ride.
Thanks for the detailed analysis, Grace. Great insight into this film before I spent money on tickets. Outstanding shout-out for “The Offer” too!
hope your feeling better grace. thanks for the video!!!!❤
Had issues but it was definitely worth cinema trip, real popcorn movie
I remember the 80's tv show, loved it when I was a kid lol.
Just watch the movie last week, and i must say it was very good time. I dont think is the smarter movie ever but is fun movie to watch with friends who like action and ridiculous humor.
That poster already told me this wasn't it.
Can’t wait to see the movie this weekend
I’ll see this with hubby but I’m really looking forward to Furiosa. We have tickets for IMAX on opening day - another movie with some senes filmed near where I live. In fact they filmed scenes for the Fall Guy and Furiosa in the same area where there are sand dunes as a backdrop. It’s the same place they filmed the scenes where the kids rescue Max in Mad Max 3.
Aaron Taylor Johnson is not skeezy, he is fuckin hot!
This movie seems like and reminds me of one those Netflix movies like 'The Gray Man'
I had a lot of fun.
I know you are a movie critic, but my goodness. I'm glad I did go see it. The cast was great together and Ryan and Emily carried it
Grace, thanks for telling the story about the stunt work on the Zombieland sequel. Remember Drew Pierce also co-wrote "Mission: Impossible: Rouge Nation", a movie where Tom Cruise ran and did his own stunts in (like hang off of a plane). It's funny one of the few movies to do well about movie making in recent years was Ben Stiller's "Tropic Thunder".
