How does he not deserve the record? just cause someone beats you doesn't mean anything, some people don't always have a good race. He has worked for it and that means he does deserve the record.
Umm... sorry for any confusion, but I wasn't referring to this race. I was referring to the fact that he only beat Ian Thorpe's record in a now-illegal suit and didn't get close to it again.
im a huge fan of agnel even though im american. i wish he swam this in london. sun yang probably still would have beaten him, but i think agnel would have been a close second.
When it comes to 400m freestyle for men the only person who can be spoken of in the same breath as Thorpe is Hackett (watch the 400m free from fukuoka and you will understand). In reality the the Thorpedo is in a league of his own. I mean he swam a long course 400m when he was 16 yo in 3:41.83 wearing a banana hammock - nothing before or since has come close to what Thorpe had in middle distance freestyle. great race btw, and agnel is surely the prince in waiting. bring on shanghai!
@omgkittymeowmeow123 I think if you just count swimming then yes France did win the most medals but overall with diving and everything else then Russia.
@Temible That differs between him and Ian Thorpe

@omgkittymeowmeow123 I understand what you're saying. I don't speak french so I don't know what the French have said about this specifically.
