13:57 And so, after defeating Disco Belmont and his friends, the Contra-guy was sent back in time where he married a monkey and became... the Dragonborn. Seems legit.
The ending to Earthworm Jim 2 is just another reason why I think it's the best "sequel" game. It only serves to up the ridiculousness that is Earthworm Jim, and that makes me smile. Plus, it proves that we're all secretly cows in disguise. And who doesn't want that?
The final boss for Growl is much different in the Arcade, which was a giant alien worm. It was most likely replaced due to less powerful hardware, or it was too difficult to render at this point in time.
Man, I never knew about these endings. Rather funny and delightful (especially Earthworm Jim 2). This would be a rather interesting series of videos, if you ever has the interest of doing more. And, what is that awesome music at the start of the video? LET ME KNOW OR YOU WILL BE COW!!!
Kline's Dream from Alundra, a great (but seriously depressing) Zelda-like game on the Playstation 1. I have had the game on my mind lately, because I think it could make a great subject for Creepy Moments.
whoisthisgit and do not forget the complexity!! getting the fire or ice rod is aneurysm inducing, and the final stage as well or getting some useful gimmick is almost impossible without an explanatory guide
Sorry, but no, there have been a lot of games that used pacifist runs for endings before Undertale. Flash games have been using it for years for instance. Also, a little indie game called Dishonored that you might not have heard about gave you the opportunity to do a pacifist run. I'm not even gonna mention the numerous RPGs that gave the option of doing a pacifist run or just killing everything. Also, just a random tidbit, some GTA players use the realistic sandbox in the game to make it more like a life simulator, where they 'lose' if they break a law and/or kill someone and/or themselves.
You've just gotta obsessively link Undertale with words such as "Determination" and "Pacifist", don't you... It's not like the word pacifist is even in the game, the fanbase just used it to describe the way that route is played. In reality, to pacify more or less means to silence without killing. Undertale in no way changed the word's meaning.
If you listen closely to the first boss' theme in the battle arena, it's a sped up version of the 1st stage in castlevania 3. THE FIRST CASTLEVANIA FAIL LMAO
To clarify for Super Buster Bros. It is 2-player (on the arcade port) and actually has an ending (in both ports), the SNES version has 2 endings depending on mode, Tour mode will show you some of the location, Panic mode shows the boy walking around and some of the monsters joining in, while the arcade version was just several images with staff, maybe you just used the level select cheat
TRY THE OTHER LEVEL doesn't mean change it's difficulty, it means you should try panic mode. Still, awesome video and very informative as always, git. ^_^
On the topic of weird endings, OFF's secret ending is utterly bizarre. The normal ending and the special ending are both depressing as hell (though IMO the normal ending is less so), but the secret ending has little to do with the game itself, and just seems to exist to troll players who want a better ending, given its rather convoluted method of actually obtaining it.
Man, I haven't played Alundra in like 20 years, and I instantly recognized the intro song on this video, like just from the wind. What a GREAT soundtrack.
I'm pretty sure that Super Buster Bros. expert ending and final level are incorrect. Expert final level is much narrower and the floor is multiple 1x1 squares that let small bubbles pass through. And the ending tells you to play Panic Mode, not Try the Other level. Might be a region difference, I've played the American copy, the European copy may be different.
That is the American version, which is also the one I owned years ago. (The series is known as Pang in the UK, so at least the title wouldn't be such a lie)
Whoisthisgit, play Job Island, for the Wii. It's Japanese weirdness after having spent years studying Western culture and attempting to integrate with Western society. It is freaking hillarious, and the ending is WTF material and also makes your heart feel all fuzzy at the same time.
oh lol the bubbles game just gave me so many memories... i used to play some arcade version with MAME, they called it pang... it had characters and each had different abilities... i recall the pirate had a rope that attached to the ceiling and could resist 2 hits from bubbles, it was nice... however i never reached the ending so i can't tell. Was a good game though, so you aren't alone git.

1. Eh, don't really mind killing them. But the music is definitely unnerving, which is probably due to my... nightmareous experience from the Sega consoles, even though I never played them, not even on an emulator. At (4:50), that'd be awfully blatant (yes, for the other animals too) as the moon is an important part in the magnetic/gravital controllance of our solar system (if it was closer/further away/non-existant, it would change the rate of our days, and make the weather around the world range from crazy high to crazy low, every second), and also would be devastating for those who don't have street lights. Also, "taito" means talent in Finnish. I don't think it's Finnish, though. 2. I'm OK with the bosses leaving away. Sticker Star was the worst of the Paper Mario series, (imo tied with SPM) but as a game it wasn't that bad. Look at the beta content. Super Buster Bros (easy): I hear they have worse punishments for easy-goes on Mars... (normal): see above. Earthworm Jim 2: Why don't the Cows have eyes? By the way, Nice callback with the ending. Really puts the frustration through.
Maybe the REAL plot twist of that first game is that the alien itself was an endangered species, and it needed those two elephants, 15 eagles, and 8,000 gazelles to feed its children...the ones that the protagonist stomped all over.
I like the Saturn version of EW2's ending because instead of just having sound effects the game would actually play Jim's damage screams after the characters revealed themselves.
I have a better plot of Super Buster Bros. Poisonous bubbles have spread across the entire world and it's up to Buster to save the day. (Could Be Better)

I wonder if it's possible to do a pacifist run of Zero Wing.
it's not like the concept's existed for several decades or anything
Sure, thats why a lot of speedrunners used it to describe speedruns where they kill no enemies...
Sorry, but no, there have been a lot of games that used pacifist runs for endings before Undertale. Flash games have been using it for years for instance. The boss in Hard Corps IS related to Castlevania because the music sounds like a genesis remix of the NES Castlevania music.
