Everytime I watch your videos I’m like why didn’t my coaches tell me any of this when I was kid. They would just give generic phrases like “keep your head up” “skate harder.” Then they would let us scrimmage.
That’s because many coaches are simply volunteers that want to help, not actually knowledgeable in terms of hockey techniques etc. This is not specific to hockey but all sports.
I generally appreciate most of this guy's coaching - this one...I just can't get on board with. In no situation could I imagine teaching my kids to skate with the puck like this.
Simple you’d use this technique on a breakaway when time to get into optimal position is the difference between beating your man or not. It’s up to the skater when to decide is the right time to use any technique but you’re only holding them back by limiting what’s in their tool box
I agree with all of the other comments saying this technique is not good. I generally like all of his videos but this video seems to fall short. I never seen a proper NHL player skate like either of these ways
Yeah. Such an in depth 'coaching' is useless to most kids at this point. You're better off paying for ice time and just letting them develop and sharpen their skills with a coach every once and a while. Most of this is just going over their heads. The kids just wanna play😂😂😂
@@cheechong5969The younger ones may not fully understand the whys but putting them through the paces of certain moves does help in the long run. Repetition then, on their own, is huge as the majority of hockey moves are muscle memory. There are plenty of older kids in the video too and he has to coach for everyone there - it's not as easy as you may think running a full clinic. The backhand push is very useful accelerating with open ice. I also coach all ages and ref. He's a lot better / more knowledgeable coach than many who run clinics who draw up drills but never explain any details. I also coach an adult LTP - it basically is like teaching kids. Every detail you put into it matters more for some than others, but the alternative is to not care.

Scrims are great when the teams are equal but quite often they were a waste of time since nobody learned anything

Yo i swear you sound like Keegan-Michael Key from the Kay & Peele show
The kids have no idea wtf he's talking about, but the parents in seats are like, "This guy's good. Here's another check"

@@cheechong5969yeah who needs to develop skills right?
Why take the time to keep it at your side when u could keep it front of you and keep your speed
I disagree with the arm swing.
Lets see you do it better then
@@firefighter_dj watch the pros, tell me if their arms swing front to back or side to side……
Say whatever to get suckers in
Why do you NPCs show up in every video of Sean's and make these empty comments?
