The smudges the kid remembers on people’s foreheads meant they had been to church on Ash Wednesday, not that they had all been touched by the creature. That’s how they pinpointed the date.
Watching the outsider last night kept me up for quite a while. Not out of fear so much but just how the show conveys that a crime, especially murder, isn’t easily solved. It doesn’t really help that the setting is in Georgia where I live. Atmosphere was daunting and mysterious. The unraveling is subtle and fast to keep your attention. I’m glad this came after watchmen. Both mind boggling series!
Agreed. But this show actually scarred me and I’m not easily scarred until Stephen King released Castle Rock and now this show The Outsider. They did such a good job with literally everything in the show it scared the everliving shit out of me. Great first episode! Trying to figure out how Maitland could’ve been at 2 places at the same damn time during Frankie Peterson’s death? He was where he said was 60 miles away during the killing of Peterson but other video footage and witnesses say they saw him with Frankie Peterson before he died with blood on him. At this point (especially after Maitland’s daughter yells in her room to something no one else can see) I’m already convinced that whatever’s blackmailing Terry Maitland is otherworldly. This series reminds me of season 3 of “True Detective” but with a more mysterious plot to it. Already drawn in and watching episode 2 right now!
The Outsider leaving slimy torn clothing behind after every shape-shift is similar to John Carpenter’s The Thing creature which left clothes behind also. And if the creature lives on sadness, I’m sure Maitlands kids are sad, so he is drawn by his youngest daughter and her mother.
The first two episodes were great and I enjoyed them more than the same parts in the book. Jason Bateman did a great job directing. I cant wait to see how the rest of the miniseries will be.
My jaw hit the floor when the detective's name is revealed; 'Ralph Anderson', the same name as the boy from King's screenplay 'Storm of the Century'. In it the villain, André Linoge aka 'Legion' swindles the boy's mom into surrendering to him in a possibly rigged 'random' draw. Ralphie was later spotted by his father in San Francisco with Linoge but it was never revealed what actually happened to him. I can't believe the two characters are the same, but only share the name.
Another great video... But one thing you got wrong. When the teenager that stole the cars was talking about marks on people's foreheads... It was Ash Wednesday. That helped helped the detectives narrow down what day the boy dumped the van on. 😉😉 It had nothing to do with shape-shifting abilities... just a time frame and date.

Great recap vid, BUT... the dead boar was left by the boar which was eating it/killing it. Was the same way the kid was found. Took the shape of the boar.
I love Steven King's twisted ass! I'm a published writer, however I stopped reading his books since the Shining. B/C I write fiction fast paced books and I don't want to confuse my ideas, unintentionally with his. But do I love his work? Ooh Yes I do!
This is awesome, my only bug is that Mexicans call the boogie man El Cucuyi and Spanish carribean folk call him El Cuco, for instance when I was bad as a kid my mother would say behave or El Cuco Is going to get you lol That was in Puerto Rico.
I honestly have no idea what the outsiders was about the trailer was good and my wife is already read the book as I'm watching the show I'm really liking it obviously they painted the guy in the hoodie as who is really killing people. So I wouldn't really call this much of a spoiler but I really appreciate the breakdown of the episodes you've always given solid work keep it up!

This has a very True Detective season 1 vibe to it.
Good video - however, the smudges on the heads are a marker of Ash Wednesday church services - it pinpoints the day on which the car was stolen ...
This was cool. Don't even really care about the resolution. Just enjoying the journey because Julianne Nicholson.
awesome
I'm already loving this show
I think Jason Bateman did a brilliant job with the first couple of episodes. I wasn’t a fan of the third act of the book, so hopefully they do a better job with the show.
I'm really liking this show.
I love it. This is my kind of show
This is awesome, my only bug is that Mexicans call the boogie man El Cucuyi and Spanish carribean folk call him El Cuco, for instance when I was bad as a kid my mother would say behave or El Cuco Is going to get you lol That was in Puerto Rico.
I'm digging The Outsider
I honestly have no idea what the outsiders was about the trailer was good and my wife is already read the book as I'm watching the show I'm really liking it obviously they painted the guy in the hoodie as who is really killing people. So I wouldn't really call this much of a spoiler but I really appreciate the breakdown of the episodes you've always given solid work keep it up!
Best show since True Detective Season 1
I didn’t know they made this book a show?! It’s a shame since this book is heavily connected to the Mr. Mercedes series and I highly doubt they are going mention it in the show.. :(
Holly is in it at least so I guess we will see what they do. You never know with HBO, if it’s popular they will wanna reference that I think
Great
Love the show love What they did with the material
