    Finally - PEACE - slowly comimg back to these once peaceful islands of southern Phil - the previous admin of Pres Duterte recruited local Tausug fighters into the army to maintain peace and it seems working - Put more Tausugs into the army - young people need jobs and army job nowadays pays well (entry level approx $600) - instead of costly war - put the money by giving local meaningful jobs - with PEACE COMES DEVELOPMENT AND PROSPERITY - GOOD JOB PHIL. - fr Tor Canada

      Yes! hopefully long lasting peace and tourism and good vibes for Sulu. I talked in depth with the tourism officers about the path forward, and i was really impressed with their progress, initiatives, and future plans. i really feel great about the future of Sulu :)

      Right, just as wheb the main body of the MNLF was folded into the AFP, for example. They were given sitios deep inside AFP installations like 4ID in CDO. That was 45 years ago. It did not bring peace then & never will.
      Tausug are Butuanon that migrated south roughly 5 centuries ago & converted. THAT should also bring about peace but of course it will not. Why not? Tausug, Yakan, Sama, etc do not want to live in a nation most have never Recognised.
      The Sultunate of Sulu restoration is thw only chance.

      Opo, the local government is amazing there, and the dept. Of tourism is great and so passionate and dedicated to their jobs. I was very impressed with the beauty of the islands and especially all the effort of the people there to show me a great time. I just hope my videos will encourage others to open their minds to Sulu and the surrounding areas

    Clearly a beautiful place, that has never been in question. A smart traveler will need to be confident that they can explore/in joy this place without escort or limited to areas or predictable to movement.

    • @EndlessMike_
      @EndlessMike_  Год назад +3

      agreed! Those beaches are immaculate! Right now in Dec 2022, ALL foreigners are required to have a PNP escort in Sulu, and filipinos would still have a representative from the provincial tourism department on their tour, so Sulu is not a place for DIY or solo travel. My hope, and certainly the hope of the Sulu provincial tourism officers, is that one day all visitors will be able to come here to enjoy Sulu without security. But honestly, I was happy to have the company as they were all amazing people and added to the fun of the experience overall :)

      @@EndlessMike_ thank you. Yes, i have a high regard to the Tausugs, the Maranaos and other native groups in the Philippine Islands. Long before the Spaniards colonized the islands, a social systems of serfdom and sultanate existed. Intrinsically, we are one people - Malayan. The Campampangans are Indonesian decent, if I am not mistaken.

      Interesting, since Pampanga has socialist groups and labor strikes since the 1870s. They even had a lot of leftist politicians back when socialist parties were still legal in the 1930s.
