everytime he says "i drank with drifters in vienna" i remember how he bought me a beer after his first show in austria. i'm not drifting, though. still, one day the kindness will be repaid.
Travel addict anthem. "Ever since my childhood I've been scared, I've been afraid, of being trapped by circumstance, of staying in one place, and so I always keep a small bag full of clothes carefully stored, somewhere secret, somewhere safe, somewhere close to the door."
Does watching this video make anyone wish it was summer again and we were all sitting outside in a t shirt, beer in hand, listening to some (amazing) live music? Just a thought.
Not many people can pull off a song about being on the road as well as Frank Turner and I can honestly say I have never seen a more "honest" artist. Lot's of people claim to tell it how it is but no one does it better than FT. Well done man, you were awesome at Reading!
This song has kept me awake at night the last 2 weeks. Every time I'm about to drop off I start singing the chorus. I'd laugh, but I'm too tired. I'd hate it, but he video makes me wish I was there at all the house parties! guess I'm just going to have to continue not sleeping!
I've just discovered him, and oh my God! he's a great composer! He really got inside of my hearth, what a great vibe, just don't know what to write... he's great!
Saw him twice in one day at Leeds Fest. On the Lock Up Stage I was three rows back and sang my heart out to every song, and it was fucking beautiful. He's such a legend is Frank.
Thank you so much, Frank. This song has made me finally get my arse into gear and start making serious plans for my road trip. 3 months through Africa, here I come!
Thank you, Radio Guerilla for giving me the opportynity to discover Frank Turner ! Please, Frank, come in Roumania too ! Me and my friends will surelly come to sing your songs :D !! Keep up the good work !
i agree, he is. doesn't make him a "sell out". everyone has career aspirations. nothing wrong with signing to a larger label (epitaph) and in the process making your music accessible to a wider audience is there? why did someone neg my original comment? i'm not saying frank's a sell out!
saw frank turner in reading this weekend, i have to say he was one of the best performances i saw, this guy is awsome, and how he got us all to sit down, funny stuff, he is one i would recommend :)
It takes a special talent to do what this man does with just words and a guitar. Frank you are a true legend it was a pleasure seeing you live earlier this year! Look forward to next time.
And I've driven across deserts driven by the irony That only being shackled to the road could ever I be free That is an amazing lyric, and overall an amazing song!
I saw Frank open for Flogging Molly in Charlotte. And in typical Flogging Molly fashion, they always have amazing opening acts. I'm definitely grabbing some of Frank's stuff next chance I get.
'have' Anyway I am ashamed to say I have just discovered Frank Turner, but he is fucking excellent. This song has been stuck in my head for days. It's awesome to know someone can articulate how I feel. Keep up the good work.
saw this on a peace corps documentary. As soon as this song is finished I'm picking up my ukulele and walking. When I'm done walking I'm going to sit down and play.
Can't remember the last time a song resonated with me so much. Just got back from travelling and its taking a great deal of effort to not just up and go again. Nearly turned round in the airport. Life flows and is so extraordinarily simple when you are moving. More concerned with being and less concerned with doing. God these feet are itching! At least I am focused now - get back out to the road asap! Really loving your work. Look forward to seeing you live some time
there just isnt another singer/ songwriter in the world who even comes close to frank, been a fan since million dead, was a bit sceptical about him going solo and acoustic but its just fucking amazing COME AND PLAY A SHOW IN ESSEX FRANK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was shown this by a friend and I can honestly say, on this song alone, that if you don't make it HUGE I will set out to single-handedly destroy the entire music industry! This song, aside from being f**king brilliant, also rings true with me because I am someone who relishes being on the road and this song is definately going on my next "Driving Tunes" CD! Wardy
Awesome song. I checked out his back catalogue and he's a brilliant artist with some amazing stories. I love this song especially. Zane Lowe was hammering it on his show. It makes me wanna just throw everything away and go travelling around the world. To The East To The East
everytime he says "i drank with drifters in vienna" i remember how he bought me a beer after his first show in austria. i'm not drifting, though. still, one day the kindness will be repaid.
"Driven by the irony that only being shackled to the road can ever I be free"
If there was ever a song lyric that spoke to me...

Too much publicity can ruin an artist but i agree the world would be a much better place if everyone listened to frankie t, art is meant to be spread

this guy deserves way more publicity (however you spell it)
He is way more talented then most artists in the charts today.
Saw him twice in one day at Leeds Fest. On the Lock Up Stage I was three rows back and sang my heart out to every song, and it was fucking beautiful. He's such a legend is Frank.

Can't remember the last time a song resonated with me so much. Just got back from travelling and its taking a great deal of effort to not just up and go again. Nearly turned round in the airport.
