Well he's alwaays been right.. nearly 81 now and still going strong, politically and music.. with his wisdom and genius.. my hero.. I totally love and adore the man
@@AA-sn9lz Disclaimer: MASSIVE fan of both Roger Waters and Bob Dylan. I can see why you would consider Waters and Dylan better. But these are different styles you're comparing. Waters and Dylan wrote about more heavy, serious topics, MASTERFULLY, but they couldn't write pop rock songs nearly as well as Lennon or McCartney. So it's apples and oranges. The Beatles INTENDED for their music to be more simple and light hearted, because that's what they liked. And there is no denying they were the most brilliant at writing for their style. Bob and Roger are more like poets. That might make you like their writing better, but that doesn't make it inherently better. I believe Lennon and McCartney were both so skilled with the pen that they could have pulled off any style. But it so happens they decided to point their talents toward writing catchy pop rock numbers like their heroes (Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, etc..) And they did it better than anyone BY FAR. Think of it like comparing Da Vinci to Van Gogh. Da Vinci had all these profound, realistic paintings that looked elegant and meaningful, while Van Gogh painted simple moments of life with super bright swirling colors. Was Da Vinci better? I don't think so. Van Gogh wasn't aiming for the same thing. They were both artistic geniuses in very different ways. Lennon and McCartney were AT LEAST as good at what they did as Waters and Dylan were at what they did. Sorry for typing a novel.
You would have thought Amused to Death was a later album, his voice is so much stronger on these new tracks compared to that. He sounds like The Wall/Pros and Cons Roger. Cant wait for this album, going to be special.
One of the greatest writer's/performers ever. To come up with material this good at this level is an accomplishment for anyone but consider this man is 73. Amazing.
I have no doubt Roger is a principled man, I mean listen to his political music. I just think he's alot like the John Lennon of Pink Floyd. His good intentions may lead him to do bad things.
As usual, it has brought me to tears. Magnificent! The strings, the already iconic ambient sounds... and ofcurse, the Waters' unmistakable lyrics... Thank you Roger Waters!
This song..... This song is... I don't know.... Awesome.. Can't describe... It is perfect. Teared up the first time I had listened to it. So glad I can experience the waiting of a Waters album in my lifetime :) Thank you for your music, Roger. Best musician of all times. Thank you.
Roger's music simply draws into your soul like a good glass of wine. His music has heart and gives us all something to think about that has substance and true meaning to where life's path has taken us
Wow. Only someone as stubborn, perfectionist, and deliciously arrogant as Waters would be completely undeterred by the fact that Michael Kamen is now (very sadly) dead, and go out and find someone who can provide that rich orchestral backing to his music that gives it more character than anything else. The sound effects are there, Roger is doing that scream again, things are exploding...Smell the Roses was like something cut out of Animals, this is something cut (lol) from The Final Cut. Phenomenal stuff.
Roger this is absolutely incredible. You still do what modern day musicians do not do, being anti-establishment, like you were all those years ago. Go Roger this song is fucking sensational
Actually, when the record companies ruled there was a lot more political music. It was a whole genre unto itself. People would buy the albums but nowadays bands make their money on gigs instead of record sales. Modern bands get more gigs if they avoid politics. Do we have to blame the audience for this one?
Sir, Lord, Gentleman, listening to this for the first time tonight Mr. Waters is pure immaculateness. Deja vu. Big smile on my face as I hear you sing. Thank you for sharing.
Pensar que para mi no existe más placentero que escuchar Roger Waters o Pink Floyd al final del día, con 24 años lo escucho desde que tengo uso de razón, gracias viejo por enseñarme la buena música 😍😍
Okay this is amazing, I love everything about it. The vulnerability in Roger's voice when he shouts, and the lyrics are so beautiful and make the song extremely powerful. I also love how the song itself is pretty much deja vu as it sounds like "Mother" and "Pings on the Wing" not just melodically, but like "Mother" literally starts with Pink asking his mom if the army is gonna drop the bomb, and in "Deja Vu" Roger literally imagines himself as a drone, it's deja vu because after all these years he's still having the same fears and thoughts. very amazing and the last verse is one of the most beautiful musical moments I've had this year
Feels like he's coming back to the Floyd sound. And here is just pure Waters. No one else to change something. Don't get me wrong, everyone from Pink Floyd did an awesome job but for me, there's nothing better than Waters. Can't wait for the album. Think it's going to be perfect.
40 years ago today i saw my first pink floyd show, two days before my 16th birthday. anaheim stadium in california, the animals tour. this song was a wonderful anniversary gift (and early birthday present). if i had been God,richard wright and syd barrett would still be alive making music with roger, david and nick. obviously, i am not God. thank you, roger, for keeping the flame burning.
It's great to hear Roger again and just to hear him singing gives me chills. I love it no matter what people say. It's not Pink Floyd its Roger. People need to get that through their heads and stop complaining. Money or not he's a good artists and I'll take him and Gilmour any day besides these other so called artists anyday.

According to Roger Waters, there are two verses in the song that the director Nigel Godrich removed on the final cut to make the record fit the run time of 54 minutes. Dear Mr. Waters, I'm so happy that you continue to make music. My first concert was In The Flesh when I was about 7 or 8. My parents have made every show in Washington since the Floyd days... I'm so grateful that at 27 I have to opportunity to see you with my family yet again in Tacoma. Much love you have been a huge inspiration in my parents lives and now in my brothers and my and my friends..
My first concert was also In The Flesh, Roger Waters has always been my thing, so I think I know how you just feel right now listening to this and Smell the Roses /// especially for as good as they are...
Yeah I think the show at the Gorge is what claimed my concert virginity. I clearly remember the plane, it set a high standard for any show I have gone to thus far in my life.
Cannibal Sausage : I have only recently seen the faces and who are the components of the band Pink Floyd due to You Tube. I didn’t know this Roger was one of the components. Yet I like his style straight away. Very creative and sensitive. I wish they were all reunited back because each of them is a great artist with a particular talent. Roger is the soul.
no one faces reality as you have in music. I so admire the honesty you have constantly expressed. it is what freedom is all about. it's pretty f'n cool Roger. I dig it.
When I heard this song at Roger Waters Us+Them tour and looked around I felt like, damn 40 years have passed so fast, so unoticiable, and now the exact same people who loved and listened to them on their youth came back just to see Roger for one last time, one last song. Kinda sad, but happy it actually happened
Oh, come on Roger... Please invite David to play some of these songs and kick some last ass together before you two leave this world. There is still magic in this.
Roger has been more than gracious with his attempts to reconcile. Gilmour has a very large chip on his shoulder because Roger wrote all the songs! Good riddance, as I'd rather this than another overblown Gilmour solo, and then him trying to claim credit that he wrote the bloody thing.
For many of Us, and maybe Them, You're are "One Of The Few" Gods in Rock, Mister Waters! And now, amongst "Your Possible Pasts" I heard "The Final Cut" through "Déjà Vu"... Thank You! ☺
PERFECTION.....Another Masterpiece by THE MASTER,ROGER WATERS......Deep,Insightful Lyrics along with Great MUSIC...Just LIKE ALL the works.....YEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH...
Happy to have my favorite sarcastic, Virgo, perfectionist back! Missed ya Mr. Waters ~ waiting on tickets for show in MIA ~ Good to have you back ~ can't wait to hear the rest - thus far - like you never left - Thank you. I believe.
Magnifica. Sublime pura bellezza...il genio ha un nome ROGER WATERS. Tutta la mia ammirazione a questo Grande uomo e immenso artista. Grazie. EnzoItaly
Roger--you've still got it! Thanks for putting this out for us--love the chord sequence / guitar. Man, it's good to hear your voice! (nice lyrics too--deja vu...apropos)
Love the lyrics and delivery of his song, which reminds me of “Mother” from Pink Floyd’s 1979 album “The Wall” - With the World in such a mess as it is today, “The Wall” and reality meet to create “Déjà Vu”. Bravo Roger! Looking forward to the release.
i was a huge pink floyd fan when i was about 11 years old, going through my classic rock phase. I'm 15 years old now, and I expected this to be a so-so dad rock song, but this song is amazing. I'm thoroughly impressed.

“And it feels like deja vu, the sun goes down and I’m still missing you” most beautiful lyric ever

Seriously! After Lennon and McCartney, he is the best writer in rock history for me.
I agree. Absolutely beautiful.

The finest piece of music I've heard in a very very long time. Utterly majestic.
I agree.
Gave me chills when I heard Roger's scream just like in his younger years 😱
Me too man 😭❤
hell yeah i love the scream! thats my roger:)
Almost exactly how he did it in Mother. He's still got it.

And the mountain top's flat
The trout in the streams are all hermaphrodites
You lean to the left but you vote to the right
[Verse 4]
And it feels like déjà vu
The sun goes down and I'm still missing you
Counting the cost of love that got lost
And under my Gulf Stream, in circular pools
There's ninety-nine cents worth of drunkards and fools
Audeet Ananto *vote to the right.
If I had been God,
I would have rearranged the veins in the face
To make them more resistant to alcohol
And less prone to ageing.
If I had been God,
I would have sired many sons
And I would not have suffered the Romans
To kill even one of them.
If I had been God,
With my staff and my rod,
If I had been given the nod,
I believe I could have done a better job.
If I were a drone
Patrolling foreign skies
With my electronic eyes
For guidance and the element of surprise.
I would be afraid to FIND SOMEONE HOME.
Maybe a woman at a stove,
Baking bread, making rice,
Or just boiling down some bones.
The temple's in ruins.
The bankers get fat.
The buffalo's gone.
And the mountain top's flat.
The trout in the streams are all hermaphrodites.
You lean to the left but you vote to the right.
And it feels like déjà vu.
The sun goes down and I'm still missing you.
Counting the cost of love that got lost.
And under my Gulf Stream, in circular pools,
There's ninety-nine cents worth of drunkards and fools.
Maybe 'pools' instead of 'balls', not sure ?!
circular pulse
Confirmed as 'pools'..
Amazing,i love this song and i not can explained How te people can disliked this incredible piece of art
Saw Roger at what is now Key arena (Seattle), and again at the Gorge. He had a plane buzz the audience at the show's start. Still gives me chills...
Yeah I think the show at the Gorge is what claimed my concert virginity. I clearly remember the plane, it set a high standard for any show I have gone to thus far in my life.
That moment when you realize that this song will follow you for the rest of your days. Pink Floyd's old days sounded like this.
Let him have a solo career without constantly comparing it and wanting it to be like PF
Yep...
perhaps it will follow us during our entire life...
#fortherestofourdays
Cannibal Sausage : I have only recently seen the faces and who are the components of the band Pink Floyd due to You Tube. I didn’t know this Roger was one of the components. Yet I like his style straight away. Very creative and sensitive. I wish they were all reunited back because each of them is a great artist with a particular talent. Roger is the soul.
Wow Roger, you've still got it. Wow.
Te toca el alma, grande Roger.
no one faces reality as you have in music.
PF music,PF sound,PF song and PF voice, damn genius!
Roger u have created some of the most powerful things we have ever known
Thank you.
They already did in 2006 or so
Roger Waters and his Electronic Eyes... Love it... Reminds me of 'If I open my heart to you, would you still hold me tonight' #LoveFromIndia.
For many of Us, and maybe Them, You're are "One Of The Few" Gods in Rock, Mister Waters!
And now, amongst "Your Possible Pasts" I heard "The Final Cut" through "Déjà Vu"...
Thank You! ☺
PERFECTION.....Another Masterpiece by THE MASTER,ROGER WATERS......Deep,Insightful Lyrics along with Great MUSIC...Just LIKE ALL the works.....YEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH...
in my eyes you are GOD-
looking forward for new album june 2nd.
Happy to have my favorite sarcastic, Virgo, perfectionist back! Missed ya Mr. Waters ~ waiting on tickets for show in MIA ~ Good to have you back ~ can't wait to hear the rest - thus far - like you never left - Thank you. I believe.
Esto es hermoso, me hizo la noche. ♡
Magnifica. Sublime pura bellezza...il genio ha un nome ROGER WATERS. Tutta la mia ammirazione a questo Grande uomo e immenso artista. Grazie. EnzoItaly
Caro Roger....Con te per SEMPRE.............................
I turn 50 in June this'll make a perfect birthday present for myself I'm so glad to see the Roger Waters still has it!
Roger--you've still got it! Thanks for putting this out for us--love the chord sequence / guitar. Man, it's good to hear your voice! (nice lyrics too--deja vu...apropos)
Thank you rog. All the elements we have come to expect from the most human human being on the planet. Cant wait for the albums release.
I truly cannot love this song enough! Thank you, Roger
Thank God, He is back... New musicians listen and learn how to make real music...
There it is, the scream, pure Roger....
There is so much more to good music than a Guitar solo. At last someone with something to say, and the ability to say it.
Was that a ridiculous dig at Gilmour?
Yeah creativity and Roger's one died in 1979... Coincidentally when Gilmour and Wright stopped working with him.
i was a huge pink floyd fan when i was about 11 years old, going through my classic rock phase. I'm 15 years old now, and I expected this to be a so-so dad rock song, but this song is amazing. I'm thoroughly impressed.
The sun goes down and I'm sitll missing you :c
Who's he singing about there?
@@paulprtenjak2708 Syd.
@@paulprtenjak2708 whomever you want him to sing about.
Gracias Roger 🙂 Argentina te ama..
Esto es un Déjà Vu de Mother. Que gran canción!
Two suns in the sunset y mother fusionadas
seriously love this, just played it 3 times in a row, read the lyrics and shared it. Quality
Oooh, ahh, Mother should I build a pig? - at the cenotaph... Welcome back Rog!
Right!!!
Get our f*cking hands off my desert!
Very funny! Every time I hear the end of 'Deja Vu', I now can't help singing out loud "Oooh, ahh, Mother should I build a pig?"
This song and video got me all misty eyed during the concert. Powerful stuff. Bravo Roger.
you gonna lose your body but not your life! you gonna live forever
RW is one of my favourite musician. Respect for songs, music, lyrics! This album is very good, contains signs from older albums and PF style.
