Why would it be illegal to burn wood found in the forest? That's the best way to ensure fewer forest fires.

Wondering if this is just where they're from. Here in New York, they actually allow and recommend burning "downed wood" from the forest, but it is illegal to cut any trees down to use for fire. I'm speaking of public land anyway. Private land you can do what you want.
