I had a feeling that this is precisely what it means; however, I have a strong desire to ground myself in my south node as I have a feeling that revisiting it will actually help me to move forward. I’ve been trying to find more info about this (my nodal reversal return was the NN Cancer/SN Capricorn axis in 2018-2020) because it was honestly some of the HARDEST years of my adult life. This makes me a Cap NN (1H) and Cancer SN (7H) and I had some of the most painful relationships during that time. It makes sense the way you explained having to dive back into SN traits, some of my biggest lessons in life has been to learn to not have codependency in my relationships and those were the heaviest themes during that time but once I started setting boundaries and honoring my NN (balancing both nodes) I started to see major progress in my love life, healed a lot and ultimately met my partner by the end of that reversal! This gave me such a better perspective of that time in my life. 😌

All I can say is that if I had gone into those years with the astrological knowledge I have now I would've taken those lessons with a bit more grace. I have my natal South Node 19° Aries.5th house. It will conjunct the Solar Eclipse on the 8th April 2024. My sun is in Cancer at 21°8th house . Sag rising here not sure how it will affect me but i know it will .

I, personally, consider the 18 months as the return cause the energy of the signs still present even when they passed your natal degree and the nodes can make aspects to other planets or points in your natal chart.
it will be most powerful when at the exact degree and within a few degrees, but i agree i feel like once it’s in the sign/house it’s already a present theme that you’ll notice.
