Great video Alan good walkthrough you can cook an egg on the back of mine on full power very quickly best to run through an amp if you need sustained high power and even then they get pritty toasty all over but good starter radios with decent mod from the stock mic.
Imagine having one of these back in the 80's. I remember having extra channels put in the CB and other extras and turned up modulation, etc. These have got everything out of the box and the power output. I wonder what the peak current draw are on these radios. I have just ordered one. My 80's CB radios have issues now (probably bad caps, etc).
Power draw is about 20amps i think , its not hooked up atm so cant test it , but if I do ill let you know. Shame about your old 80s radios I have a few and I try and look after them as best I can, I've become a bit of a collector, but I don't have loads . Good luck with the Anytone when it comes :-)
That wasn't star wars, it was Close Encounters! I used to have tones on the CB, came through everything else and I used to hear people come back and say "Move to channel 25" etc. I never even spoke yet! :-))
Sup AL I'm going over all your older Video's as a new subscriber I have a 6666 I like it it runs a Texas star dx 500 in my 4x4 I do have it set up run a bigger Amp but I run the 500 most of the time Great video hope you sart feeling better soon
Cheers bud 👍. I still have my 6666 great radio and the one I started with when I came back to the hobby, also great audio with out the need for a different mic in my opinion.
What's the diff between HF mode and CB mode? Also, from looking at it on several vids, it seems when you switch to freq/"VFO mode", it doesn't work like a standard VFO, in that by hitting freq button you are really changing the frequency for whatever channel you are on? ie if you are in band A, channel 20 (or whatever), if you hit the Freq button, you are literally changing the freq for that channel? is that correct? Seems kinda clunky? They could have programmed that better imo; example, make it so press and hold Freq puts you in band/channel edit mode (working as it does now), but pressing freq just puts you in standard VFO mode, and when you short pres freq again it returns you to the channel freq you were on previously
Yeah best way i can explain it is that once i change band it goes to the channel i was on on that band previously , there is no real differnce from HF to CB ive just programmed the CB channels and flick the radio onto band B for example and ill have my 40 CB channels , you can change from LSB, USB, FM and Am and still be on the same channel . It is a good radio and i started back on the Anytone 6666, not really that expensive for what it is. Ive not used it for a while TBH so i would need to remember stuff ive done on it. Its not to complicated, but did what i needed to at the time , Had my 40 CB channels which i programmed in and then put it to band C to use USB on 27Mhz or 11m. I hope that helps a bit.
I'm getting the same qrm down here in Essex,it just like appeared from nowhere. It is putting me off the radio cause I can't hear no one. I own the crt ss9900 rig
Hi Al ,If possible could you give me some info on the lead you made up for the qrm eliminator to your anytone. i have the crt9900, is it an internal mod or linked to ptt on mike, im not bothered about opening up the radio,i have two of the qrm eliminators a russian one which has vox and has capability to switch by diodes, the chinese one is the one i want to sort, if you could give some info on what i need to radio wise with crt, i would be grateful info is scarce.
Cheers not sure this will be helpful but i had a rig doctor do it for me, so radio had to be opened up and the right voltage found from radio to switch QRM eliminator with just a normal type phono lead. Was a bit tricky but it worked. I can give you name of the guy that did it for me. He is in south west Birmingham. Sorry i cant be more helpful than that. Best of luck.
@@Al.26TC101 ok cheers Al. i think the easiest option is to keep the chinese one for use with the hf radio and get another one with diode switching from igor, thay say things come in 3's anyway, LoL

I was looking at getting the Anytone 6666 for my mobile. By the way I really like the green display over the orange. 👍
@NLINE7 No problem, I would say not to run it full power on FM but as you said mainly for LSB. Great audio aswell without having to have another mic. Good luck and maybe catch you on 11m?
Oh it's been a while since of used it, but don't think you can in the software, sure you can change delay in menus though. I'll have to have a look when I get chance.
I always hard wire my radios straight to the battery, as you will not get enough amps out of the cigarette lighter for an Anytone 6666. If it was a straight 40FM 4-watt radio , then not a problem, but the anytone pulls a few more amps.
I going to purchase me one this week I want it basically for cb I have a bunch of cb ham got the galaxy Saturn got a connex 3300 got a rci 2950 got a super star too many over 15 base and mobile people tell me you can use it stock that's the way I want to run it I have a few power supply got one built in with a small linear amp going to run that with it has a 30 amp power supply built in with the amp I'll put a 4 watt key in it just want too try something different going too use it as a base station I have a antron 99 base station antenna set on my 30 foot aluminum pole plan to run it at low power don't plan too run the power wide open only want to try out something new any information would be greatly appreciated Mike Holden out of north Carolina said that thanks again for any information

Can you adjust the wattage output from the software in the radio or pc?
Yes you can on the radio, on one of the 3 rotator knobs.
Any problems with the Anytone 6666 getting to hot, say around the heat sink area?
Yes it does get quite warm, but it was never a problem. Can always add a fan to heat sink which is what many do.

Can be a little difficult to get used to but I soon got used to it and of course I ended up getting the programming cable.
I have the CRTSS9900......same radio as Anytone6666 with a different name.
yep pretty much although i think the SS900 has a bit more power out.
