[Follow My Lead #04] From the Quincy Jones album “Back on the Block” 1989 “Setembro” (the Brazilian Wedding Song) was written by Ivan Lins. This song included Take 6, Sarah Vaughn, George Benson, Joe Zawinul, Gerald Albright, amongst others.
Those of you who know Take 6 well may or may not have caught a difference early on in the song, something that when I think back to, Quincy knew exactly what he was doing.

Setembro is one of my favorite songs by Ivan Lins not only because I'm Brazilian, but also because it has a very soothing harmony and Take 6 nailed that song. Great job as always! Best acapella group ever!

The timbre change between Merv’s lead and yours is what makes that a cappella breakdown stand out. If you had done the first sections, our ears would have been “tired” of the melody by that point. Instead, you came in and gave it new life after Merv’s sincere introduction. Quincy served that track well!

Also remember the second lead was Sarah Vaughn. Q worked the changes from person to person beautifully:)

I couldn't even imagine hearing your vocals 1st.. wouldn't have ruined the song but most definitely would have changed the surprise factor ..when you come in later... I feel that you're the "mood" setter in the song.

love the series BIG BRO... I figured that was Mervyn on the lead in the beginning because on the "From Q With Love" greatest hits album, on the last track, "At The end of the day", the song and lead sounds almost IDENTICAL. You guys KILLED it though. Its definitely a song that takes you to another universe for a few moments. A great escape!
