    Today we start working on the electrical components of my DIY fiber laser cutter V2! We install the mini-PC, mouse, and keyboard, get some basic electrical set up, and get the Raytools XC3000S Fiber Laser Controller and software installed. We also unbox the Max MFSC-1000X fiber laser source and get it in position on the base of the machine.

    I would recommend 3d printing a cover for the line filter.
    Or get a dinrail/breaker compatible box that fits both the breaker and filter.
    So the exposed metal studs and crimped connectors get covered.
    As you will grab the main breaker 99/100 times, but that one miss will give you a heck of a jolt.
    Cleans up the visual wiring as well.
    Love the rest of the installation though!

    That laser source begs for the 19” rack. I bet there is a rail kit for it.

    Why did you add a mini PC when the EPC-2000 is one? I have a whole pallet of stuff in route from Skyfire using your discount code for my build (1500w MAX). Can't wait to see yours all done.

      That's what I thought also at first...I hooked it up to a monitor and it's running Linux or something, so I looked at the user manual and it showed it hooked up to a Windows PC to run the front end software.

    First of all, love your build, great stuff.
    I would have just bought an electrical enclosure, at least here, base models from Rittal aren't that much - at least a lot cheaper than making your own properly made powdercoated metal cabinet. Sometimes I find them on ebay or local ads even cheaper. You know, lifting the mounting plate out of the cabinet and installing everything on it, then putting it in is also a lot more comfortable/practical.
    Any stuff you dislike about the XC3000S? My supplier wants me to go with that one, instead of more expensive FSCUT models. Don't know why.

    • @diyfiberlaser
      @diyfiberlaser  Месяц назад

      Thanks for your input...I'll have to check out Rittal...I always struggle with what to do for the electrical cabinet because the ones I find are always expensive, and I'm cheap. My last machine used a Ruida RDC6563F controller, so for me the XC3000S is a major upgrade in both terms of controller and software...I like everything I see about it so far...if I had to make a complaint about my experience so far, it would just be that the hand pendant labels are in Mandarin, so I'll have to pint out translated labels...pretty minor. I've yet to use a FSCut controller, so I'm not sure what advantages it brings over the cheaper Raytools one.

      What laser head are you using?...some are designed to have more features when paired with their brand controller.

    Can you please Skyfire to give is 3D models of the Breakout board ..would be nice to have to create electrical panel layout

    • @Skyfirelaser
      @Skyfirelaser Месяц назад

      Thank you for your suggestion. The 3D models involve many other electrical components, and without knowing the specific layout ideas of each DIY enthusiast, a definitive 3D model might only serve as a reference. For those not familiar with electrical principles, this could be a challenge. Therefore, we are considering a different approach to provide assistance. We will be shooting a video soon to demonstrate the specific installation methods of the laser components sold by Sky Fire. I believe this might be more user-friendly for all DIY enthusiasts, even for beginners.

    Does skyfire provide a list of approved electrical components and wiring diagram.

    • @travismitchell5712
      @travismitchell5712 Месяц назад

      I don’t know. I didn’t consult with SkyFire on the wiring. My approach is overly simplified for my needs. From what I’ve seen in a more professional electrical cabinet, there would be the use of contactors and more breakers for individual components.

    • @Skyfirelaser
      @Skyfirelaser Месяц назад +3

      Thank you for your question, it is a great inspiration for us. Since every DIY enthusiast has different ideas about electrical layouts, following a fixed wiring diagram might take away the fun of DIY. However, to accommodate those who are not familiar with electrical components, we will launch modular DIY electrical components in 2025, making the process much easier

    Do you still have to deal with importing if using Sky Fire?

    • @diyfiberlaser
      @diyfiberlaser  Месяц назад +2

      Probably depending on where you're located. It was not a big deal...my items were shipped via FedEx, they arrived just as any other package normally would, and then I received a bill from FedEx a couple weeks later to pay the import fees (was about 19% in my case)

    • @CraigHollabaugh
      @CraigHollabaugh Месяц назад

      We shipped ours via boat and import duties were included. 50 day delay, we need to make room for new tooling ,so this is no big deal.

    4:30 Kind of weird they sell the controllers based on what you need to cut - sheets or tubes.
    Especially that they have a variant that can do both.
    Don't get it.
    There are arduino based controllers that don't care much whether you do tube or flat sheet, just matter of the control software being able to generate right gcode or steps.
