baba yaga and the gate of Kiev are fabulous of course but the huge ox cart coming by... You can SEE it. This music has been part of my life as far back as I can remember. I am so grateful to my Dad for giving my sisters and me the love of music. It filled our house and became part of my soul.

SAME! I played this today in performance (I play cello), and that moment is just transcendent. All the bows release and the brass come in with that superb, glorious E flat major. It's hard for me to not get wrapped up in the music at that point... fortunately, we cellists have several bars' rest to recover.

You are mistaken, this work has nothing to do with the Golden Gate in Kiev. The inspiration for writing the suite was an exhibition by the artist Hartmann. The final part, "Bogatyrsky Gate", is dedicated to the sketch-project of the city gate in honor of the Russian Emperor Alexander II. They wanted to install the gate in Kiev, but the project was not implemented.
