The videos with all 3 of you are my favorite from The Dice Tower. Great chemistry and very fun to watch. 46:46 Zee is really that good. :) Happy New Year with more great videos of even greater games.
Top 10 games of 2017 (according to BGG): 1. Gloomhaven 2. The 7th Continent 3. Anachrony 4. Clans of Caledonia 5. Pandemic Legacy season 2 6. Near and Far 7. Gaia Project 8. Azul 9. Lisboa 10. Century: Spice Road
I was surprised i didn't see Century: Spice Road in Tom's List ! I just acquired this game and wow. It is such a genius game ! Definitely my top 3 this year
Hmm no Dice Throne, thats in my list for sure, hits a great itch for me! I also love dice tossing and quick games, allows me to get others to play much easier!
It appears I run about a year behind on games. I've only played three 2017 games. New York Slice, The Godfather: Corleone's Empire and Magic Maze (in ascending order of fun). I played Magic Maze at Dice Tower Con and our sand timer kept jamming making it much easier for us.
I don't. Sam was great fun but re-watching these top 10s, so many game are repeated. It's good to have mike, roy and chris just to add some variety and different perspectives. And when they get the girls on during cons, or guests- it's even better
A game that of 2017 that showed up on his top of all time, MUST show up on a top of 2017! That would be logically sound, but Sam is not logically sound...
Oh look! It’s Sam Healey! The greatest, bestest, most wonderful thing that ever happened to gaming! Thanks Tom for sharing him with the world! Zee is great too.😁😁
my top ten would be: 10. Lovecraft letter 9. Altiplano 8. Clans of Caledonia 7. Tak 6. Gaia Project 5. Sagrada 4. Dice Forge 3. Heaven & Ale 2. Merlin 1. Raja of the Ganges. This was a year that I did not get to play some of the big name games. I do not think anything will knock Raja off.
Is this like a Back to the Future thing? Does someone keep going back and changing this video in minor ways? If we look closely is there another Zee, Tom and Sam in the background of some scenes?
Was 2017 that great? Seems like it was more top-heavy w/ just a few elite games. Granted, there were lotsa good, solid games as there are basically every year. But I don't think it was quite as deep as the past couple years.
Has Sam even played Gloomhaven? Does anyone know? It is totally weird GH is not on his top10 and not even on his top100 of all time. This totally looks like a game he would enjoy.
Sam my daughter is the EXACT SAME HAHAHA! should be a good game to bring in with her my wife and I just started getting into hive! And my sonand I are going to try out Element looks amazing! I'm just now getting into board games other then the traditional one big box stores (actually considered selling the ps4 to get a few others to play solo!)
Photosynthesis is AWESOME! It is really easy to learn but difficult to master. I bought it for my brother and his GF for Christmas and they love it. It's beautiful and the quality is top notch. Dinosaur Island looks awesome and can't wait to play it. It's on Tabletopia free to play and also has a solo mode which for me is a plus. Godfather has one problem; all the cards have the same artwork! COME ON! What a waste of potential. I am not a fan of legacy games because they have little replay value. I'm surprised that Zee didn't pick Dragon Castle since he LOVES abstract games. . . so do I! (Onitama, Hive, Hnefatafl, The Duke, Tak, Tao Long, Tatsu, Stratego, etc.) Does Pulsar 2849 use wood dice? Wood dice are a travesty to gaming. They are way to light unless made with a hard, dense wood. I agree with Sam that Paper Tales is NOT better than Among the Stars. I like solo games and the fact you can play 7th Continent alone is a major plus. Games that require a minimum of 3 players I can't stand. It's hard enough to find one person to play with let alone 3, that's why I shoot for games that have solo play as well. Gloomhaven is EVERYONES favorite game. . . . YAWN! I'll get around to playing it someday. Great list guys! Y'all crack me up.
I mean yes Kickstarter backers began to get the game in December of 2016, but since they made the list last year before Santorini came out AND that it really only got mass production in the year 2017, this is a technicality that we don't really need. It essentially is a game from 2017
So many ideas for games to try... thanks guys. PS If you liked Shadespire (mechanically) try Aristeia! from Corvus Belli - the setting is SciFi/light/anime-ish.... but it's it's balanced and customisable... and eventhough i liked Shadespire, in Aristeia! feels like you have more control on the outcome. Or more impact during your activations.
Sam and Zee need to chill. The tension is palpable and annoying. It's actually more of Zee instigating; i'm glad to see them call him out as a "troll."
I haven't watched these guys in like 3 years. Zee has always been the funniest, but he is thinner and wittier than ever. Love you zee.
No need to apologize! Thanks for the content and Merry Christmas!
“I love you mom” “Does she watch these?” “No” 😂😂
Thanks for reposting I'm still about a week behind on video watching so glad this is back up.
The videos with all 3 of you are my favorite from The Dice Tower. Great chemistry and very fun to watch.
46:46 Zee is really that good. :) Happy New Year with more great videos of even greater games.
Zee's trolling at the beginning is hilarious.
Don't worry about the repost. It shows you care and are making the extra effort to get things right.
Really loving the new production! Keeps up the good work guys! God bless
Top 10 games of 2017 (according to BGG):
1. Gloomhaven
2. The 7th Continent
3. Anachrony
4. Clans of Caledonia
5. Pandemic Legacy season 2
6. Near and Far
7. Gaia Project
8. Azul
9. Lisboa
10. Century: Spice Road
I was surprised i didn't see Century: Spice Road in Tom's List ! I just acquired this game and wow. It is such a genius game ! Definitely my top 3 this year
Hell yes GLOOMHAVEN!
i'm glad anachrony's on there. some of the nicest people i met at gencon last year...their booth is a must-visit.
I still haven’t played all the games on your top tens and it’s five years later.
Zee dissing Sam's Sakura story had me dying 😂
I really like the calm and surreal winter background going on :)
Tom, have you joined 1Player guild on BGG? We are waiting for you there.
So much sass in this one. Brilliant!
zee looks thinner
Oh a new top 10. Happy new 2022 ;)
Sam's hat makes him look like a member of Fred Flintstone's lodge.
jbrecken Is it weird that I would wear the red viking cap in public before wearing that blue fedora alone in a dark room?
Deceptikam its a trilby, but youre not wrong.
Dice tower The EDITING Awakens! No problem guys, Merry Christmas and sorry you're having those problems with it!
Hmm no Dice Throne, thats in my list for sure, hits a great itch for me! I also love dice tossing and quick games, allows me to get others to play much easier!
Could you tell us what changed?
You can just start at 4:43, you are welcome.
It appears I run about a year behind on games. I've only played three 2017 games. New York Slice, The Godfather: Corleone's Empire and Magic Maze (in ascending order of fun). I played Magic Maze at Dice Tower Con and our sand timer kept jamming making it much easier for us.
Near and Far is my favorite! We rented it from our FLGS for a week, then ran back and bought it! Working on campaign mode right now. LOVE IT!
2022, have you played all the games yet? 😜
I miss Sam 😭 and top 10s with everyone in the same room.
I don't. Sam was great fun but re-watching these top 10s, so many game are repeated. It's good to have mike, roy and chris just to add some variety and different perspectives. And when they get the girls on during cons, or guests- it's even better
"No fourth editions" I'm dying of laughter over here.
14stockfan what game are they talking about?
Twilight Imperium 4th edition. Look it up on BGG, it's a very popular game.
Everytime I see Santorini in a list, I immediately ask myself "why not Torres?" This game deserves so much more love.
Sword and sorcery is on sam's top 10 of all time. Why isnt it on his top 10 of the year?
logic 404
RyuSora Tournament at Camelot is also in his top ten but isn't number one on the list either.
Sam's lists are always weird... but this list beat them all...
Sam said S&S made his shortlist of 20 games there at the end, so I am guessing it has probably slipped out of his Top 10 of all time.
Very many games come out every year they play alot
A game that of 2017 that showed up on his top of all time, MUST show up on a top of 2017! That would be logically sound, but Sam is not logically sound...
Well I did wish I could give this video multiple thumbs up, but ti's starting to get redonkulous!
Sam - I am three for three for adding new games to my wish list on the first three games you mentioned in this video.
Surprised how good the lists are this year. Nothing that I would disagree with. Maybe 2017 was the best year in a long time =)
yup..maybe 2015 and 2012 are at least AS good.
On the 3rd day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: 3 Top Ten reposts, 2 Top Ten reposts, and an or-ig-in-al Top Ten pooooost!
Great horns!!
Oh look! It’s Sam Healey! The greatest, bestest, most wonderful thing that ever happened to gaming! Thanks Tom for sharing him with the world! Zee is great too.😁😁
How do people decide what Kickstarter games to back or at least find out what is being hyped?
Kirintal I view every single game released and research them as much as possible :p not bad if you make it your hobby
Where can I get Dragon Castle. I wanted it the moment I saw it.
my top ten would be: 10. Lovecraft letter 9. Altiplano 8. Clans of Caledonia 7. Tak 6. Gaia Project 5. Sagrada 4. Dice Forge 3. Heaven & Ale 2. Merlin 1. Raja of the Ganges. This was a year that I did not get to play some of the big name games. I do not think anything will knock Raja off.
tom looks different depending on what direction he is facing.
My daughter got Queendomino for Christmas. We love it!!!
may i ask why you use RUclips editor vs. a separate video editing software? there are so many available.
We don't use RUclips editor normally. We used it to try to fix a video that was already uploaded (it's the only way to do it).
Weird that Tom didn't mention Rum & Bones Second Tide. It's on his top 100 of all time so I would have assumed it was on here as well.
I didn't do second editions, have another list for that.
The Dice Tower Ahh, I see. Well, thanks for responding.
I don't mind reruns :-)
That short clip of that Merlin game looked very intimidating
i watched the original and it wasnt bad.
atarahM original?
Is this like a Back to the Future thing? Does someone keep going back and changing this video in minor ways?
If we look closely is there another Zee, Tom and Sam in the background of some scenes?
One of my favorite Marvel villains is the Super Skrull.
I have heard this on others list. I’m just wondering if you played it, and if you could review it? Heaven & Ale
Thanks guys!!!
Sam's Naah made me leave the dt website and put a like on the video - Love boardgames, love the guys' banter more : )
No fourth editions? THIS IS HERESY!!!
Where is the written list? I don’t want to watch it again to see the titles.
no worries guys, stuff happens. we love ya! :)
Sam: I binge watched Stranger Things... doesn't know what The Upside Down is LOL InBetween does look cool though.
I thought they said no revised editions? How do they explain this video :P
#1: Sidereal Confluence
#2: Azul
#3: Clans of Caledonia
What is the game they've discussed, the one with Frankestein.
wondering where element stood on zee's list
I never noticed before, but my roommate pointed out that Zee kinda sounds like Seth Rogan.
Sidereal Confluence, Clans of Caledonia, Azul.
How many people are going to complain that 2nd edition was better? 😂😂
Why does the guy in the middle sound almost exactly like Chris Farley/ Jack Black
I love that someone younger than me still uses the term "grok".
devekut2 Robert A. Heinlein represent!
third times the lucky charms :) Merry Christmas and Have a Wonderful New Year Dice Tower Fans :)
I bet I can predict their lists before watching! Weird, huh?
John Byrne bet you can't predict Sam's
Did you predict Pie Town? LOL!
(no, seriously... did you predict Sam's list?)
MrBicholino omfg this freaking comment.
Was 2017 that great? Seems like it was more top-heavy w/ just a few elite games. Granted, there were lotsa good, solid games as there are basically every year. But I don't think it was quite as deep as the past couple years.
Sam!
I know you didn't include remakes in your list.
But if you did, where'd the 4th version be?! =)
Pandemic is a good game, but come on man. Every top 10 ever.
that a new studio? :D looks amazing
Pulsar 2849!
I'm just sorry for the views that you won't be getting on the video. I'm sure you might not care too much about it but for me that would hurt.
Spoiler: There are no jokes about "NMBR 9" at #9.
Has Sam even played Gloomhaven? Does anyone know? It is totally weird GH is not on his top10 and not even on his top100 of all time. This totally looks like a game he would enjoy.
Sam here...I've played Gloomhaven exactly once. I wasn't too enamored with it on first impression, but I do want to try it again.
Thanks for the reply!

Godfather has one problem; all the cards have the same artwork! COME ON! What a waste of potential.

(Onitama, Hive, Hnefatafl, The Duke, Tak, Tao Long, Tatsu, Stratego, etc.)

Tom needs a bigger hat..its just a bit small on him.
Hector Cornejo it fits just above the ear, the way any rational person would wear a blue trilby.
The barrel of the hat looks way too small on him.
Attention to detail is a good thing ,you don't have to apologise
Santorini still came out in 2016
I mean yes Kickstarter backers began to get the game in December of 2016, but since they made the list last year before Santorini came out AND that it really only got mass production in the year 2017, this is a technicality that we don't really need. It essentially is a game from 2017
Sam, your hat is a highland cow
Were is bendy and the ink machine
So many ideas for games to try... thanks guys. Evan Roth you know it’s all shits and giggles, right?
So why doesnt Zee like chess?? Best abstract game ever made..
Republika Dugave Go FTW.
Hmmm. I own none of these and don't want to either.
Skip
You know 2017 was a garbage year for board games when one of the Dice Tower guys ranks a Pandemic re-skin #1.
I’m pretty sure Zee has some version of pandemic as his number 1 or 2 every single year. Guy just loves his pandemic
Paper Tales is trash.
