Ceausescu and Elen and all the other members of the Politbureau look confident, smiling and in control. So, when did ceausescu lost the crowd, when he went inside and new minister of defence ordered the helicopter for him? At that crucial and important moment, truly historic moment Ceausescu should've come down and meet the people in the square, he would've win them over despite what was happening in Timisoara and all the problems Romanians went through throughout the 1980s he still had a lot of people who supported him. That's my opinion, at moments like these you meet the people, like Napoleon did when he told soldiers sent to stop: "I am your Emperor, join your Emperor" which they did and he took the power again!!!
it still happens today ,they send in the police to beat you down then they deal with the samll echochamber suporters that are left ,there is more footage of the crowd storming the base of the building ,when he actually left , im not saying anything pro or against him im just pointing out some inconsistencies in your theory

Well, he pretty much says how other countries and foreign agencies want to destroy socialism and sovereignity of Romania and how people should defend these values against foreign attacks; he never doubted for a moment that he wasn't loved by the people, he died believing that he fell after a coup d'etat. He also said that from January 1st, salaries, pensions and allowances wil be increased.
