I see this is an older post so I don’t know if you’ll see it or not but wanted to thank you. I’m 69 and started riding at 37 and I’ve had as many as 9 horses but down to 2 now. I’ve only tried giving them shots once at the beginning of having horses. My husband encouraged me but when I went to try, it was like a scene from Psycho! I put it in then pulled it out cause I was scared it didn’t go in right. So I did that a few times, screaming a little each time. (I’m sure that didn’t help the situation!) But my husband is experiencing poor health and so I did it myself today with the help of your video. It was so simple just as you demonstrated. I am very independent and have taken on all the jobs of my small 5 acre ranch. Driving the tractor, weed eating, trimming trees, etc. So it was wonderful to learn how to do this on my own. Thanks so much!!!
I just gave my first shot to my horse, I didn't go to the but of the needle but as soon as I felt muscle under the skin I sunk it deeper. No fluid came out, and when I pulled back there was no blood. Does it sound like I did it right?
I injected Adequan tonight and i saw a lump form as I was injecting it. I did not stop because I pulled back and knew i wasn't in a vein and quite honestly, my horse is 3 and I didn't want to poke him again. I waited around for a while and within 10 minutes the lump shrunk quite a bit. My question is: Did my horse get his dose of Adequan even through the injection was subcutaneous instead of IM? Thank you, great video!
+AntiqueUnicorn He means pull back on the plunger a little bit, to create a little suction. If you are in a blood vessel, you will get blood flow into the syringe. If I see that, I stop, pull back the needle a little bit, go in a different direction, pull back the plunger again. If no more blood flows in, go ahead and inject. I might put some pressure on the injection site for a minute after withdrawing the needle.

Excellent explanation!! I have to give my horse a shot on Monday and now I feel more confident!!
I love the masking tape visual! It really helps me know where to put the needle. Thank you so much for posting this.
I always ‘draw’ the triangle on the horse’s neck with my fingers to get a visual of where I’m going with the needle. ❤
Thank you so much for simple and informative video! I did my first injection today, I was feeling more confident after reviewing this video
Thanks! I need to put an injection to my donkey today, I feel confident I will do it properly. Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷
Should I clip my horses neck before she gets her injections?? She’s SUPER fluffy

That's interesting. I'm starting Adequan also and I hate giving shots. But you said subcutaneous. I thought Adequan is I.M.?
What is the use of Geatamicin
Gentamicin is a strong antibiotic. Google it. You've misspelled it
So you not prep the area betadine or chloraprep or alcohol wipes ?
Easy, fast simple descripción.great thanks
Esta no es sub cutanea?
Always a great place to review. Thanks for posting.
Great vídeo helpsme a lot
Thank you! Very helpful. I had always heard to rub them briskly first. What is the purpose of that? Same as pinching the skin?
It can draw blood flow into the area. I was taught that it can be good to do that afterwards to help get it to spread.
Can I inject DMSO ? iF SO, HOW MANY CC ?
Good job doctor
