Love the project! I hope this doesn’t come off as criticizing., but I think it would be better for some simple vocal instruction ( like a voice over) than the jazz music. Family Handyman is great and I hope this channel grows no matter what.
less talking less listening more watching and learning. I'm TIRED of hearing voices when I'm researching. Just want the job done already, so this is a refreshingly enjoyable video. The jazz is a perfect and seldom used touch!
My concern is my aging Danes. I want to prepare before there’s a necessity. I am hoping that getting them used to the ramp. Etc. earlier will make an easier transition to when its actually needed.
Really love this project and it was fun to build. My few notes are: I think the tech art is a bit off vs the cut list. My issue is with cut list items D & E. I believe that D should actually be 48” long. And E should have a quantity of 2. D is also called ledger on the cut list but called a strut on step 4 in the step by step instructions. Watching the video really helped in co junction with the plans. Just a warning for anyone planning to complete it.
Yeah I just got there as well and now have to recut. I watched video at least ten times and looked at drawing at least 20 times trying to figure out what happened since I was following step by step.
Well erm. it's nice to know we all have these saws, tools and various equipment. I'm trying to build a cost effective ramp, without having to outlay for all the power tools. Good video for people who have these tools though. 😅😂
HI! I have a 54 lb terrier that is having hip problems. Do you think this would support her to get on and off my bed? i would hate to make this and then find this is not going to work. this is awesome reghardless - thank you for sharing!
The cutlist on the linked project doesn't match the plans. If you follow the cut list, you'll have to buy an additional 1x2 once you move to the next steps.
Not that I would mind making it that big,I just wonder if I could try to size this down just a bit? I've just got 1 little 15lb.Chiweenie needing to get up to a futon couch, instead of bed that is higher up..
Well its conditional. You'd have to find the measurements for your situation, bed size, dog, etc. Your pretty much making a base rectangle. If its shorter, the slope will be steep, and the longer, the smoother the climb will be. Then figure out how long the upright supports need to be for your bed. You could easily finish the base, and get the top half finished, then measure for the length of the supports. Test it before screwing, then adjust if you need.
Hello there. I would pay you A REALLY FAIR price if you could make me one. Im disabled an so is my dog. She is overweight due to her lack of exercise. Im trying right now to figure out how to make an sttachmen on my stair lift to get her up to the bed to begin with.
2x4x8 are less then $3 over here in Texas. Probably not much more wherever you are. Use mdf board for actual ramp part. It's cheap and will support 90% of dogs sleeping on beds. Make the ramp small as you can if you have to. As small as your dog will allow safely. Hardware no more than 25 if you are smart about it. Not sure if carpet is completely necessary as mdf is fiberous but if so, I would not buy carpet new. I would use a dollar store rug or something.
Well it will cost you a couple hundred dollars if you don't already have drills, bits and other saws. Most people looking to build things probably have the basic tools and a couple leftover scraps in their garage. If not, then the leftover scraps from this project will be used on the next one.
@@Rugbystate9champ can't argue if you don't have a drill but you can pretty much get all of this cut at Lowes or home Depot. Hammer and a chizzle + sand paper you could get away with for the round cuts, but would obviously take longer.
Aagh you guys deleted the plans page on your site! It would be really nice to have a cut list and such - your video doesn't go into detail like that. 😞
These people are so rich that they have a room for DIY projects, plus the tools and all. How to build a ramp for common unrich people? Imagine to rent a spare room, then to buy the tools the wood and all that, how much the ramp would cost?
Sure, I have a garage full of nail guns, jig saws, circular saws etc... While we're at it, I also have a lathe that will cut through Adamantium, an anti-gravity device and a time machine. On to videos for the common guy.

Absolutely right on both counts.
Yeah the jazz is a no go for me lol
Absolutely agree 👍

@@MandsOnTheMic that means that you personally are not an auditory learner is all. You’re a visual learner. Some people are not. Be mindful.
The link does not lead to plans and measurements -unfortunate since this is the best one on youtube
This is exactly what I need for my old dog. Thank you for posting this. I’m going to build it tomorrow 😀
Hi I have an old dog too and I’m planning on making this for her birthday and I was wondering if it worked for you?
Am I the only one watching this cause their dog has a back problem and they feel bad that they can’t get into their bed? 😂😂
no. lol! my dog just had his front leg amputated so i need a ramp for the bed so we can get off the damn mattress on the floor.
My concern is my aging Danes. I want to prepare before there’s a necessity. I am hoping that getting them used to the ramp. Etc. earlier will make an easier transition to when its actually needed.
Yeah last week my dog couldn’t jump for three days. It felt like eternity! Is it their back or legs with issues?
Absolutely not!! 2 years later and I'm watching fo4 the same reasons lol

i noticed something was off on the list as well
did you build this yet? can you give me more accurate measurements? plan to build this weekend....
Yeah I just got there as well and now have to recut. I watched video at least ten times and looked at drawing at least 20 times trying to figure out what happened since I was following step by step.
Wish I had read this before I made the cuts. Back to Lowe's...
its way overbuilt. that ramp is good for a 200lbs dog. he's got a little 15lbs dog. could use much less wood and make it way lighter.
Might want to show how to have a sacrificial block behind a piece when drilling. It avoids tear out.
I went to the link. There is then a link to build stairs. No info on this project.
Can you comment the dimensions on this, please
Can I just buy one from you, measurements wld be very helpful

Great video! Thanks for the inspo ☺️
Where are the plans? Dimensions?
Is there a way to get the plans ??
i have a loft bed and i want my cats to come up with me this is the only reason i’m watching this 🥺
Measurements would have made this video helpful

How much did you spend on Materials for this project ?

Yep! Just ran into this.
What is folded height ?
Just built this came out perfect thanks for the video
Hi, you follow the cut list?
Beautiful

What is the height of ramp when opened up?
Uhm I have a question!
Does this work with couches cause my small dog is having trouble to get on top of my couch
Yes just make it small
Am I the only one waiting for the guy to give measurements?

But if you cant figure it out, he put the link to the project details and measurements in the description.
How far down (measurements) to make pilot holes for the legs to attach with the bolts?
If this video is to "show" people how to make one of these then you need to slow down, explain and give measurements.
Where are the measurements?
This was awesome! Would someone please name me an affordable durable and solid wood to make a ramp for a 20 lbs dachshund? Thank you
some pine board would be fine
just get a doggo ramp
@@oatmealindeed2210 for almost 300 bucks youre nuts

Nice!

Measurements what happened nice 🤷🏿
I thought it was a breakfast in bed table that you folded 😂😂😂
Great ramp. Love it, but this will run you close to $100 unless you already have the screws and carpet. Even then good luck not going over 50.

Is that right well shit I saw a ramp at 99cent store it was 🍒 and 10$!

Plus you don't even need to cut those round since those are more esthetics than functional so really is all you need is a drill for this tbh.
Instructions, dimensions, anything actually useful?
In the link above, under the video
Made the mistake of watching this on break in the squad room. Everyone looked at me like I was watching an adult film. Please go with different music
PLEASE repost this Vid... With different background “Music”...... 🤢🤮
SIN MÚSICA ESTARIA MEJOR.
Aagh you guys deleted the plans page on your site! It would be really nice to have a cut list and such - your video doesn't go into detail like that. 😞
Looks like a good project but I cannot stand the unprofessional music track. Who signed off on that?
I'm a visual learner but some audio instruction would be better. HATE the music, very distracting. Sorry
just get a doggo ramp
My husband uses these plans from Stodoys and is very happy with them. However. I love yours!

This is a useless video unless you are going to provide a little more information. Less music and more instruction.
Instructions are in the link provided in video description
Then put an outboard motor on it and go fishing!

Why are you watching basic build videos if you're gonna bitch about not having basic tools?
