This is the most beautiful drawing of a blah animal I have seen and I have been searching for a long time!! I used to have a long haired Black German Shepherd and want to learn to drawn him.
Thank you so much! This was a commission I did a few years ago but I have a black labrador tutorial coming as soon as I've finished my bull terrier one! 🥰
Hi Shannon - New subscriber and love your video library, beautiful (and very motivating) work! I wonder if you might consider sharing a list of the Polychromos colors you used for this colored pencil painting? I realize it's well after you completed this video, so only if it's easy to do. My darling Luna, an extraordinarily beautiful Black Lab with very shiny fur--just like you've drawn/painted here, passed away a few months ago. I'm embarking on a project to draw her, and have the Polychromos set. I'm a total newbie...but love the idea that working on a portrait of her will deepen our connection in her spirit form.
Hi Jordan, thank you for subscribing it’s much appreciated! Even though this was a while ago I still remember the colours I used like it was yesterday ☺️ I used a base colour of either cold grey I or cold grey II, followed by a layer of cold grey V, then a layer of Payne’s grey, then black in the darkest areas and I used light cobalt turquoise really lightly for the lighter parts to create a ‘shiny’ look in areas. I’m so sorry your gorgeous girl has passed, I send you all of my love. I wish you the best of luck with your drawing project, it’ll be wonderful to have a piece of art capturing Luna that you can cherish forever ❤️
@@shannonmullin This is so kind of you, Shannon...thank you! Having your color template will make such a difference in going forward with confidence. I appreciate your kind words about Luna more than I can say. Wishing you the very best...
Gosh I would LOvE it if you could do a tutorial on one like this using the blues and other colours to really bring out the vibrant black 🥰 I’ll be watching out for it 🙏🤞
Sorry for my late reply I must have missed your comment! The polychromos have a high lightfast rating so the colours should be preserved for up to 100 years from UV light! ☺️
Just a question... why watercolor paper? I’m used to use 🤪 normal sketch paper and I’d think that watercolor paper is too textured but it looks amazing. So I wanted to ask for your perspective on it! Thank you ☺️
What kind of paper is this? I'm trying to do a dog portrait right now but I have the white teeth of the paper showing through everywhere. it looks like you didn't have that issue even from the start with 1-2 layers. Edit: Nevermind, you have it in the description. But how does hot press watercolor paper compare to "colored pencil paper"?
Hi there! It’s really smooth and takes a lot of layers I would highly recommend it, I’ve used rougher papers before and I’ve tried Bristol board but they don’t compare to Fabriano Hot Press Watercolour paper for me 🙂
Would love to see this in real time . Awesome work
Thank you! The tutorials I’ll upload from now on will mostly be in real time rather than speeded up ☺️
@@shannonmullin I like the speed, I can see most of what your doing, without it being too long. I also like realtime, but maybe you can do both?

Blah animal? Matter of opinion, for sure.

Hi Cherie I’ve been wondering what I should draw in the next tutorial series! Thank you for your suggestion I’ll have a look for some images 🙊😍

Oh my gosh, thank you! 🙊
Amazing... how you preserve the colors? As a person who has only normal pencils I worry about how long the colors will take to fade..

U honestly deserve a million views!!! Fantastic job👏👏👏👏🤗
I also wanna know how long u took to draw this
Oh my gosh that’s made my day, thank you! I think it took me around 20 hours in total give or take 🙊

Is that drawing available on your Patreon?
Hi Karoline it isn't unfortunately, this was a commission I did years ago 😊

wow u so underrated
Thank you! ☺️
How long did it take you?
I think it took me around 16-20 hours in total!
WHAT SHARPENER DID YOU USE?
I use the Derwent Super point Manual Sharpener!😄
Too fast
This is just a time-lapse I didn't want the video to be too long! My current videos are real-time if that's any help :)
