I wanted to tell you that I donated some food in your honor! I live in an impoverished city and I work for a nonprofit that assists people in my city. I was walking to work and saw some food sitting in a box by the trash. I checked the expiration date and to see if it was good. Our non profit has a little food pantry that our clients can help themselves to with no questions asked. I put the food in there. I just wanted to share with you so you know that you are making a difference everywhere! ❤

Thank you for taking the food to the little food bank!! Growing up my mom would get food from our local food bank & they fed us so well when we otherwise wouldn't have had any food that month. I'm so happy you did that. You're really making a difference 💜

i was down on my luck in the past, when you talked about the food banks, I know how people feel that go there, my life is so much better now & I have found a food bank that I can donate to, they will take expired food etc. & put it on a different table & the people can make there own judgement weather they want to take it, I found 9 brand new kids backpacks with the tags still on them, no cuts or nothing in perfect shape. I am so excited that I will be able to donate them to kids that are in need... Happy Diving & be safe...

I worked for Kroger (grocery store) for twenty years and the date only the packages is the sell by date. What that means is the date by which we had to sell it. Even though it's mostly its says expiration date on it it doesn't magically go bad on that specific date. We we were told a lot of products are what the call short dated so it allows the consumer time when they take it home before it's really does go bad. Once it's past its expiration date (aka sell by date) it still has quality shelf life on it, some last longer that others.

Nah. I dive pet stores and have found tons of food not expired, not returned, no recalls. Just found 11 boxes of high end dog and cat food in the trash last week. Along with 2 full bags of the same food just not in boxes, 8 new tennis balls, 5 bags of greenies new (the only item that was expiring the next month), 40+ new pens (nice ones),8 poop bag holders with the bags, shirts, bandanas for dogs, 14 new dog collars, .... I'm forgetting something. Anyway, I donated about half to my county animal shelter. It was limited ingredient food and they were over the moon 😄💗 This food was 4oz sample packs for a promo that month.
The pet store she stopped at I've also found cases of brand new canned cat food (over $100 on my first visit) among other bags of food. I never take opened, recalled, or expired pet food.
It's infuriating bc rescues show pets in these stores and it's SO easy to donate to those rescues. They are IN The store for crying out loud. BUT they don't bc they want you to buy food from their store and donate that to the shelter.
The food store she stopped at in this video I went to last night and found cases of coffee, 11 chocolate bars, jars of peanuts, and probably over $200 in Latorade (misspelled on purpose) and various flavored water.
Pet supplies plus is the only pet food store I've seen with responsible trash. I vote with my dollar and only shop there.

I used to work in an office building that shared a dumpster with a veterinarian. The vet clinic regularly threw away unopened bags of expensive dry dog and cat food that was either just expired or due to expire in a week or so. They said that they couldn't sell it and refused to donate in case it made an animal sick. I would regularly retrieve it out of the dumpster and donate it to an animal shelter that was less than one mile from the clinic. It's appalling to see all of the waste that we create and I commend you for saving those bagels for people in need, Kelly. You're a wonderful young woman and I really enjoy watching your videos. I’m glad you drop food off at that lil food bank. Sometimes homeless will eat rotten food just to have something to eat. I’m always happy when you find books and keep them, because Target used to rip the covers off and dump them in a compactor per the publishers instructions. I don’t understand why they don’t donate them to schools and libraries. Often scrappers will take the cords for copper, other items for aluminum, old computers and lap tops have gold. So if you’re seeing missing cords on roadside items without cords that’s why. Scrappers collect until they have enough for it to be lucrative, as the prices of metal fluctuate.

You have over 20 thousand subscribers. That is so awesome! I’ve never seen a channel grow so fast. You have found your calling. Your a youtube creators and a dumpster diver. Plus your a reseller and you give to those in need plus keep things out of the land field. What your doing helps so many. You can make money selling items to people who are looking for an item that’s cheaper that in the stores. And you can make money on RUclips. Plus yard sales occasionally. I think you will find that you can do quite well. As your channel grows and you continue to list items to sell. I love the free pantry. We got one in our little town last year. I see people getting food out of it all the time. It really helps. There are so many older people who need help with groceries and I think if I could dumpster dive I would give food to the elderly. I have psoriatic arthritis mutalins. It’s just a very bad form of psoriatic arthritis. So I can’t do diving. But I have a grabber. One day I’m going to try that. I know me if I see something I can’t reach I’m going to want to get in. Maybe I’ll see some young divers out to help. Lol. There is not a good reason to cut up anything that is usable. I don’t know if you watch the Chris and Hollie show but last wk one store manager called the police on them saying I told you to leave and you refused. And that never happened, she lied. Hollie in front of the police asked her why don’t you just donate the usable items. And she said we damage them so nobody can use them. It was just so stupid. It’s hateful to damage something you throw in the trash so not even a person in need to have it. Chris and Hollie are cool. Check them out if you haven’t already. God bless you and thank you for helping others. Leslye

I love that you saved the bagels! When I worked at a local grocery store deli, they tried to force me to through out a garbage can full of food at the end of each day. I used to mark it drastically down instead. The people who came in at the end of the day looking for my markdowns needed food. They were what i call "the working poor", those of us who work and work and struggle to just pay the bills. Needless to say, I got yelled at a lot. I admit i still marked down the food instead of just throwing it away.

Just a suggestion. When diving at a pet store dumpster bring a step stool in case you have to Dive in after a bag of dog food. Bring a dumpster hook and case you have to reach for dog food. Bring your bag but also bring a roll of packing tape and case you need to tape up a bag of dog food to get it out of the dumpster without spilling it everywhere. And bring a scoop and case you need to scoop up dog food that is on a Box or on bags that is still in good condition. I never recommend scooping up dog food off the bottom of the dumpster.

Every human being has the right to shelter, food and health care! There is no shame in going to a food bank. Ive gone to food banks myself. I volunteered at a food bank for 2 and a half years and loved it! Met some wonderful people. People like you and me. I no longer can volunteer at the food bank, due to health issues. That doesnt stop me from helping others. I have given food, clothes and money to others in need. No matter what resources we have, we still can help our fellow man! God bless and happy diving!

There’s state and federal regulations that companies have to follow. Also, if pet food has been opened and returned by a customer I don’t think they can donate that. According to CVS, most consumable products must be one month away from expiration for them to be eligible for donation. I’m not defending all this waste but it helps explain why some of that stuff is in the dumpsters. 😞

Ann J hi, I’m in the UK, and assume our rules maybe different ? I know here several of the larger stores donate food on date to shelters, mainly sandwiches and lunch items.
However my son worked briefly at a massive British store, Marks and Spencer, and they had to pour bleach over foodstuffs to deter the homeless who used to hunt around foreign food. He got clever though and used to set aside a bag “by accident” in a regular place where it was found and taken by them. Had he been caught he would have lost his job. Ridiculous !

I think you are a nice young lady. You care about the people who are hungry and do something about it. Your husband should realize what a genuine and conscientious person you are. God will favor you for thinking about others. I wish there were more young people that think about others who are in need. Good job! You impress me as a wonderful young lady. Keep up the good works. You deserve the best. What you give out in the universe will come back to you. I am a retired teacher from Virginia. Your parents should be proud of you as I am.

So wonderful of you to leave food at that food bank💜...start carrying some baby wipes with you to clean up after spills🙂Wow those bananas would’ve been great for the food bank... they need more of these across the country...however it really can’t provide what a “real food bank can. Also a homeless shelter is quite different than a food bank. At least here in NYC.

The reason why they're cutting the wires is because you do have scrappers diving in the dumpster. The cords have copper in them and the hangers are aluminum if you check scrapping prices at the yards you'll see those bring in good money.
Don't take from the back of a store. What you did is considered trespassing and stealing. They had not released the trash ie.. disposing of it in a trash receptacle, and it's still considered their property.
Glad you donate to your local little food pantry.

You are such a sweetheart. You are doing the right thing saving that food for those who need it. I am trying to do better about donating food items that I find. I do a lot of dumpster diving but I haven't worked out the best places to take my extra food items. I save some things for me and my husband. He has Parkinson's and I care for him at home so diving helps us a lot and I am glad I can share it with others that need it too.

  • @ebikescrapper3925

The guy will separate the metal and cable into two loads, take both to the scrap yard and make money. He might separate the metal further and take all the motors out, this will give him loads. An example of this is the kettle base, undo the screws (usually torx screws), collect the cable instead and copper pins if you can get them out. Take a tool kit with you, cable cutters (good quality set), some screwdrivers and a small cordless drill and screwdriver bits. If you come across a vacuum cleaner take the cable and motor out, it does not take long once you do a couple.

Food items with an expiration date doesn’t mean it automatically dies on that date. I also, use “expired items” they are still good to consume. I’m glad you get those food items and take to food banks.

Thrift stores check all electrical items that come in if it does not work it is trashed, can't sell what does not work that's why cords are cut or if there frailed. If the item is to dirty or came in with roaches it can not be sold. I worked at a thrift store for years. We had someone donate poop, a landlord who would bag everything tenets left behind and donate. Dirty dishes and all we do not wash dishes then sell them they have to trash them.

Lol 67 degrees where I live is hot! Today it was 56 and it was so nice. TFS your diving adventure. Those throw away aluminum pans are great. I like to use them when I am bringing food to someone else’s house. I don’t have to worry about getting them back and they also work great for painting. My local Hanafords leaves bread and bagels that are past date in a shopping cart out back for anyone that wants them. Maybe this store does the same thing. I used to get Pepperidge Farms bread and raisin bread all the time. I would just freeze it and take it out as I needed it and it would keep in the fridge for awhile. You should collect some grocery bags and put them in the food bank thing for people to put their food in just in case they don’t have anything..Great score btw!

  • @enamorarteboutique2297
    @enamorarteboutique2297 5 лет назад +1

I appreciate the gesture, and a lot of foods can be eaten after the expired date cause it’s not bad it’s just not as fresh, but I worry someone might get sick because it wasn’t stored just out by the trash where a lot of things could’ve happened to it.
Imagine being homeless, feeling terrible and then sick 😕

For anyone to plant in or use food from. I think those kind of things are grand ideas on how to help anyone struggling with hunger. I would love to see more things like that in the US.
