Opiates are for physical and mental pain, and allow for people to be the person they really are. It's when people are withdrawing from drugs that the problems begin.

He’s pretty wrong in stating that prescription overdose deaths from opioids are substantially high. The mortality rate just from over the counter NSAIDs is 48/1,000 people. And the mortality rate from opioid prescriptions is 75/1,000. You also have to take into consideration that a decent portion of the opioid overdose deaths is due to combining consumption with alcohol or Xanax - it’s rarely just the opioid that causes death…
You have to go to the core of the issue with illegal drugs or overuse of drugs: why are people self-medicating in the first place? They do it to ease their pain and escape….start there
Legalization is a disaster. And the War on Drugs needs to be fought with the Pentagon and not the DOJ. A war is fought with soldiers and generals, not cops and lawyers.
Codeine and morphine are heroin lite. The issue with even heroin is that it isn't really bioavailable unless you inject it, which is very bad. Oxycodone is the only highly bioavailable opioid that works through oral ingestion or snorting. Pretty much any other opioids short of fentanyl are just a waist of time unless injected. Hydrocodone isn't offered in high enough doses with a bunch of NSAIDS to really be safe to use either.
I completely agree with the end, not just if you have nothing to lose but if you just aren’t happy with yourself and haven’t been able to achieve your goals you will be more likely to cave in when offered drugs. It’s all about your mindset.
Yes and no, u might be more likely to try them, but an addicts brain is literally def. Then a normal person, a normal person will realise there fckin up and stop, and addict will generally lose everything ruin there life, and have no choice but to stop, rehab, jail, or death, it's a big difference
If the argument for legalization is more people will try it. That's fine because the problem isn't trying it it's becoming addicted and dying from it. And that is more unlikely when it's controlled legally.
I think it's also important to emphasize that legalisation doesn't mean cocaine or heroine will be for sale over the counter at a bar or club. It means registering as a patient at a clinic, using the substance on site in a controlled and supervised environment with no substances leaving the facility. If the choices are "we continue to have armed criminals running this stuff on the streets" and "we have safe clean clinics where people can get their fix", I think I'm ready to go with clinics. These people are clearly struggling, let's help them instead.
@@klein_karoo_permaculturenah it doesn’t need to be that tightly controlled. Even what you’re describing will have a thriving black market because most people don’t party in a clinical setting. You gotta let Coca Cola sell it and anyone else who wants to if you’re going to successfully legalize it without making criminals rich. A truly free market is required.

When they report deaths from street drugs vs actual prescription drugs it’s less than 1/10. If you remove suicide from long term chronic pain that number goes to almost nothing. Actual patients needing help can’t even fill prescriptions because there is a nationwide shortage. Make that make sense when it’s street drugs killing the most. It’s ludicrous.
Yeah, that cant be even close to possible. The number of people taking pharmaceuticals multiplied by the number of prescriptions they're taking multiplied by the outrageous amount that these companies r charging peoples insurance companies each month will vastly outweigh what people in this country spend on illegal drugs. That would mean something like 1 out of every 5 people (man, woman, and child) spend more than $1000 every single week on illegal drugs. Or 4 out if 5 spend more than $250. Id believe that about prescriptions... maybe.
That’s $3 trillion drug trade globally. The US is the only country that allows pharmaceutical companies to rape their customers like they do. The same drugs we sell in the US can be purchased in Canada, the EU, China or Russia for 1/1000 of the price in some cases.
It's easier to do things that are illegal than it is to do something legal. You just dont sell heroin to kids, and those who buy it aren't desperate enough to either.
I’m sure I can speak for a lot of people, not just myself, when I say I have watched many videos about how they make cocaine and I did, in fact, do it again. Many times. Many many times.
If drugs are legal and regulated, the victims will be those who choose drugs. In the drug war, the victims are the users AND innocent bystanders. Pretty simple
WRONG! I call B.S. , does NOT prey on the weakest in society smh. More college grads (future docs & lawyers) spend their money on powder than anyone I've witnessed. They turned out fine. The "weakest" in society STAY addicted. Besides, legalizing everything would help society lose interest. It's a CULTURE situation. Overdoses hit hardest where the knowledge is lacking. Regions unfamiliar with heroin lack the wisdom to deal with needle drugs. Regulation from government would help in those situations
yeah its so stupid. like celebs and musicans are known for being drug abusers, are they the weakest? itss crazy how ignorant people are and feed into the propaganda.
Well said. The fact that they're finding baggies of coke laying around the White House tells us there is a vast ocean of people in this country getting geeked up on a daily basis even while they're doing their normal everyday job. Not saying I condone that, but it's happening regardless. This whole country was built on a combination of stimulants and barbiturates. And of course, booze, but that's legal for some reason.
So true man I lived in the states for years and I had friends well educated doctors and lawyers and they did coke everyday. Also in Mexico the educated ones are the ones using the most that's a fact
I agree and call BS. It don't prey on the week! I seen the rich in the fishing industry spend their money on cocaine by the wash machine full, ya you know who I'm talking about. I seen captains of multi million $ vessels putting their crew in danger everyday . Not just the poorest it's everyone a target.
Don't let rich people who live in nice areas talk about legal drugs you don't want to see what happens mentally to people after 10yr of crack or heroin . Asking how much a addict needs is like asking people how much money is enough
Bullshit. People in Portugal are 45 times less likely to die of an overdose. But yeah let's save people's lives by ruining their lives and throwing them in prison. Real nice mentality you Puritan.
One thing I don’t think a lot of people understand is that their IS legal cocaine for numbing during procedures etc and Coca Cola aka nestle sells pure coke to the medical and pharmaceutical industries already
this guy has no real idea what he's talking about but he sounds like he does which is dangerous. There is noone sitting around saying "man I sure would like to get hooked on heroin, buuut its illegal so...." or "man, now that heroin is legal, i cant wait to get hooked! gimme that syringe!"
@Paul-vf2wl I like him in general, but I'm always put off by people who are so unphased when making statements of fact without any knowledge or consideration on the topic. Especially when they have a platform. And anyone who Looks at the history of prohibition in this country and how insanely ineffective the war on drugs has been And think We shouldn't try something new. Is someone who thinks that they are not and never will be affected by the issue and honestly could care less. I would be asking why the US government made a potential cure for addiction? Like I've again a scheduled one drug despite it Having no recreational potential and no habit formin potential, And no one had even heard of it. So why did they even go out of their way to outlaw it completely and make it as that is heroin? Why did the lawn drugs Result in a significantly worse drug problem?
No matter what you're never going to stop overdoses just like you're never going to stop people dying from alcoholism or from smoking cigarettes. People are going to do what they want to do. It's up to them to know their limit and not push it. You can do anything in moderation
@@mattmarzulaU agreed with you until there i smoke weed everyday i basically just had a 10 day bender on coke and mdma imagine 9 in the morning after a big night on bags and i refuse a bag
Nobody realizes illegal drugs make 3.3 trillion untaxed while big pharmaceutical companies make bout the same taxed so big pharmaceutical companies really make more.
If they legalized it (idk if im for or against, there's too many variables to really know). One of many issues would be the hypocrisy. They could start producing and getting rich and have the whole country infrastructure backing them. But how many millions of people did 20-30+ years in prison for selling with the whole country against them. I think weed should be legal obviously. But when they legalized it here, it didn't add anything and it only took potential money from regular folk. When i was a teenager and younger i really struggled, and i sold weed to earn living. I could've sold something else and made more but i mostly played it safe, weed market was safe. Maybe im old fashioned but i prefer dealing with people
Yeah, we’re a culture and a society in its death throes. The drug situation is just the iceberg under the water. We just don’t want to face it. We wanted to have our cake and eat it too and now the bill has come due.
It's not free where you live ? Where I live there's literally vending machines that give out narcan for free no limit. Inmates can literally grab any amount from them leaving the jail when released. Hospitals also give out free narcan, rehab centers, etc

I’m sure I can speak for a lot of people, not just myself, when I say I have watched many videos about how they make cocaine and I did, in fact, do it again. Many times. Many many times.
why is the sound off from what they are mouthing?
Yeah noticed that after that glitch at 2.19
If drugs are legal and regulated, the victims will be those who choose drugs.
In the drug war, the victims are the users AND innocent bystanders.
Pretty simple
Rick Simpson oil works for detoxing off fentanyl, & works for alcoholics who aren’t full blown ones. In pot shops it’s called RSO
soo where is rogan doing the podcast from?-i thought he moved to texas-online map said texas is no legal weed-is map wrong or what-anybody?
Legalizing it gives the illusion it’s not as bad
WRONG! I call B.S. , does NOT prey on the weakest in society smh.
I enjoy Rogan podcast but sometimes they act like they don’t know the real world lmao. Exec and politicians do more coke than any “lowlife”
yeah its so stupid. like celebs and musicans are known for being drug abusers, are they the weakest? itss crazy how ignorant people are and feed into the propaganda.
“if you watch one of those shows on how they make cocaine, you’ll never do cocaine”
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *snorts*
illegal drugs mean no taxes
I need to watch this episode soon
The drugs even got to Elon 😅😅😅
Regulate and tax? Like that works.
Pharmaceuticals are regulated and available on the streets illegally. Do you think things through before saying something?
He’s absolutely right about the level of brutalityof the cartels. The devil himself would 🫣!
I know exactly how they make cocaine, and It wouldn't stop me in the slightest lol.
The countries that have the most severe drug laws have the fewest drug deaths. Japan and Saudi Arabia, for example.
ask yourself if you would enjoy living with laws like that. All the laws in those countries are extremely harsh and unfair across the board.
They also cut people’s heads off in public there so…
I didn’t uncover them, they were shown to me. Ah, the puppet and master.
wtf was that at 2:19?
this guy has no real idea what he's talking about but he sounds like he does which is dangerous. There is noone sitting around saying "man I sure would like to get hooked on heroin, buuut its illegal so...." or "man, now that heroin is legal, i cant wait to get hooked! gimme that syringe!"
exactly
He's a great writer but he's definitely got some odd beliefs
@Paul-vf2wl I like him in general, but I'm always put off by people who are so unphased when making statements of fact without any knowledge or consideration on the topic. Especially when they have a platform.
And anyone who Looks at the history of prohibition in this country and how insanely ineffective the war on drugs has been And think
We shouldn't try something new.
I was with you right up until that last ridiculous claim that you could do anything in moderation. That isn't true at all.
@@mattmarzulaU agreed with you until there i smoke weed everyday i basically just had a 10 day bender on coke and mdma imagine 9 in the morning after a big night on bags and i refuse a bag
We probably will stop through gene editing and as medicine and science progress
@@mattmarzulait is true. I’ve tried every drug. I’m in my 40’s now and I do not use them anymore. I am healthy and happy.
It takes 50 or 60 years to die from alcohol or cigarettes it's hardly the same as overdosing
Nobody realizes illegal drugs make 3.3 trillion untaxed while big pharmaceutical companies make bout the same taxed so big pharmaceutical companies really make more.
It's not like Big Pharma are paying a lot of taxes
Sorry Joe you and Elon didn't smoke weed together. Elon didn't inhale.
I don’t know if Taylor’s numbers are accurate. Vietnam war had more casualties than ww1 and ww2 combined. That’s a lot
Joe R realizing he’s in the wrong business lmao
DMT dealer rogan coming soon
He laid out a perfect plan to turn it from a 3 trillion dollar industry to 10 trillion dollars
@@Kjskateboarding1 dmt elk meat 🍖
Everyone drinks because it’s legal
So now that weed is legal at my Ohio cottage for the first time since my youth I don't do any illegal drugs. At least not in my home states.
What if I told you they could block certain receptors to keep you from getting high off whatever medication but they don’t 🤷🏻♂️
Like Bupenorphrine or something else?
Narcan should be free and should be widely available and it saves lives if administered in a timely manner
It's not free where you live ? Where I live there's literally vending machines that give out narcan for free no limit. Inmates can literally grab any amount from them leaving the jail when released. Hospitals also give out free narcan, rehab centers, etc
@@TrusttNoOne it might be free here for criminals but if you need pain medication for severe degenerative disc disease you have to buy it before they will fill the prescription and it was a little over 30 dollars and that might not seem like much but it is when you're on a fixed income
FDA approved it as an over the counter nasal spray last year
Waco was fast and furious, dad. Nicaragua was their grandfather.
Legaluze drugs, then taxes must be paid and people using in public can be arrested even with a 5150 label. Love you Joe, but I do not want to live in TX.
