The support build story is basically what happened with Baus. He pioneered a unique playstyle that capitalized on gold and cs that would allow him and his OTP champ to shine, despite how he builds. Then everyone started copying him and it became normal, so riot started taking steps to change it. Regardless of whether the style was healthy for the game or not the fact is Baus was doing it first, and it worked well, until it became normal.
One of the most toxic tactic in the game by the way. Interesting that the Baus tactic is possible, but very disgusting at the same time, since it is against practically everything that lol is about. Irritating to play against it and irritating to play together with it. It is pure cancer.

Except Baus was getting ahead with cs, pushing hard, he initially gives his lane opponent a lead, and then killing Baus isn't even worth it since he's only 100 gold. It was a very unfair strategy, and it is completely boring to play against since he just ignores you until he's outscaled enough to statcheck kill people. It was not healthy direction for League to go into.
At least with the heavy movement speed build Azzapp goes, the strategy involves moving around to make plays, control area, and pick spots, and everyone can use the strat without much diminishing returns, unlike the Int Sion strat where it's best done only with Sion. Azzapp's strat encourages interaction, Bausffs' doesn't.
Overall, I like these changes, but there are a few things I really don't like:
1. PTA is just fastfood Conqueror with no healing. I wish they preserved its identity as a single target keystone. Perhaps only increasing your own damage against the target while reducing the damage you take from all other enemy champions while focusing your quarry. That would be unique!
2. (Small one) I hope Yun Tal Spears' bleed damage scales with crit chance cuz it currently makes more sense as a crit dip item for assassins/skirmishers since the bleed is refreshed on subsequent crits, and its duration is more than enough time to score another crit with just 25% crit chance. Maybe I'm wrong in it being widespread, but I just feel it in my bones that this item will be abused by at least a few champs that build it as their only crit item (Rengar, most likely).
3. Overall removal/reduction of Tenacity/Slow Resist while increasing Haste and Move Speed prevalence is big sad. ☹️ League of CC incoming.
4. I don't know why Kircheis had to be fully removed. All of the items it used to build into still use the Energized property. Could they not have just nerfed its damage a bit if that was the problem?
5. WTAF is Zephyr? Like actually. What?? Just what. Fuck, man... Pretty much any champion that autoattacks has no reason not to build this in the late game.
I'm not sure about some of this.
1. PTA, boosts damage for your whole team and affects non/low scaling damage. Any champ that took it before will still take it over conq.
2. This seems like it may work in theory but realistically this is no different than taking a crit dip for IE in the current patch. It doesn't really happen. The burn damage would also need to do more than 50% total ad and make up for the 15 less ad compared to IE. If assassins' aren't taking IE this patch they won't be taking YTS next patch.

Zephry is an old item that most people used to build for adcs late late game, selling boots and getting that. They simply normilized it and made it an adc boots upgrade. That was a really good idea
This patch is a buff to ADC, but not those who use attack speed, no lethal tempo and some great items have lowered AS. At the same time, there is increase in the crit chance and MASSIVE buff of AD in certain items, there will be like 2-3 ADC items with around 80 AD, which is crazy
it's a buff to crit adcs, and a sidegrade/nerf for attack speed adcs. like for example, draven is gonna be eating good, but ashe and varus are gonna be a little underwhelming. caitlyn is definitely buffed, and kogmaw is a little confused. jinx.... depends on what her best balance of ad and as is gonna look like, but I think she'll either be roughly the same or a monster

The on-hit items are going to get buffed before this makes it to live. A lot of crit items lost their crit entirely (like Kraken Slayer) so there's room to buff them explicitly without buffing crit.

What I don't get is why ADCs are still complaining about these item changes? Like, legit, I'm an ADC main myself and I see this patch as the biggest win we've gotten in like, 6 years. Genuinely ADC is going to be in the best state it's been in for over half a decade. But people are just like "Muh attack speed and range gone D': D': D':" Like, bro, just shut up. Xayah is definitely eating big this coming patch.

Yeah, I disagree. Have you seen the navori changes? Attack speed and range gone? What are you even talking about there, lethal tempo? More like where did all my ad, lifesteal and crit go. I already find myself hitting attack speed cap every other game, why gut ad and or crit from half the items? I can't even fathom what a Lucian build might look like post changes.

Bro, LT and Overheal are getting removed, but PTA is being reworked to, after 3 status, grant you personally 12% extra damage on everything, to everyone, for the rest of the fight. 12% more damage, and it no longer cares that you target a single person, is insane. And nobody ever took Overheal anyways and it's getting replaced by a rune that heals you any time you kill anything. Which means you no longer have to dip into Resolve for Second Wind to survive a poke lane as a hyper carry so long as you have halfway decent wave clear. Xayah, Sivir, Zeri, Tristana, and Kai'sa all get massive buffs from these changes.

@@Gluesticks356 You don't need crit on these items anymore because they're going back to 25%. So now you hit decent levels of crit with 2 items and spike hard at 4. Xayah with the new Phantom Dancer will be genuinely insane. Twitch, Zeri, and any other champion with high amounts of AoE is insane with the new Statikk Shiv, which deals TRIPLE damage to champions (270 damage!!!) AND resets on takedown. Xayah with Phantom Dancer, NQB, and IE will be damn near untouchable. So many champions that have been weak for a while get massive buffs.
Love videos like this. Yes, you're 'just reading the changes', *but* you're going above and beyond with the analysis. I don't think it's pure speculation, because you have both the skill and the prior results to back up your theories. Really looking forward to seeing how the meta progresses forward.

I usually wait for someone smarter than me to figure it out lol, just because also I imagine rune changes will need to happen since mana will probably be more of an issue early on (at least if trying to maximize gold output)

Old ludens pretty much back again. Now we got another ap burn item with mana. We're pretty much back at liandries demonic. They reverted and brought back somany items that i sont think riot has a clue what theyre doing in the first place. But hey getting zzrot and banner back doesnt seem impossible now.

I really liked the damage amp part of PTA, especially for supports like Pantheon. A bit sad that he'll basically be unplayable on support.
Yeah, pantheon is giga nerfed accross all lanes and that pathetic mr/armor buff on emp E is so useless you might wonder do devs even know whats the pantheon problem because they are clearly clueless.
Yeah as a top lane main the swifty boots changes are massive. Vayne top gets a massive buff for buying boots. Great. And now rumble gets a mini nerf too in his bad matchups

As a Tryndamere OTP I like the removal of Lethal Tempo for mid to high term stability. Now you are not balanced around 1 Rune choice anymore, but for the short term it will hurt, until he gets a compensation (or maybe more over a long time)

The swifties change really hurts singed. In most circumstances they were THE boots to go because of how his kit works and what his weaknesses are.

riot already nostalgic about ranged toplane meta so they designed swifties in a way so they cant be matched by melees. I guess they think it would be kinda boring if ranged toplaners could be just walked up to, when youre a champ without 800 dashes.

It seems Riot is making op stuff on purpose just so people talk about their game. A jungler's overall speed and impact with the new boots is way better than one without them. The burn item is Liandry's 2.0 for squishy champions, Brand which is already super strong will skyrocket in winrate with 2 burn items.
Also Riot is removing stuff that wasn't even that bad for no reason. No one was using Anathema's chains but it's because its stats and price weren't good enough to justify such tiny debuff on a single target, why didn't they rework such unique item into a viable option? Beats me. Lethal Tempo is the same, why didn't they rework it into a state in which is not toxic to fight against? Who knows!
PS: It seems that Riot hates engage supports because for some reason they don't make tank items that actually improve your supportive capabilities while enchanters have 5 different options for whatever they may want to do while if you're playing a tank you can build Armor, MR, Health Frozen Heart and Locket, throw us a bone please, it's boring to build the same exact items every single game

Swifties with ranged top gives only 65 movement speed after attacks instead of constant 60 so it is still a straight up nerf in that department. Imo most melee champs would still prefer the old constant ms too so rip swifties.

Yeah, with how bursty the game is, Coup De Grace gets very little value, there isn't much of a difference between being at half health or being dead.
It's only really useful on champs that have lingering burns or who thrive on resets.

I do like most fo the changes buuuuuuut....
I started maining GP again and now they are making 2 of his core items uselss on him. Essence reaver no longer has sheen and quickblades no longer grants crit. on top of this they also removed crit from bloodthirster and are changing boots of swiftness, and aparently on all servers exept for EUW you are aparently no longer able to do phantombarrels(placing a barrel while Qing the first one.).
I do prefer GP as a brusier but riot basiclly forced you to buy crit on him when they made his passive scale with crit.

When the season started I proved that ludens was worse for burst than maligma... Now it's back to what it used to be. Ludens is a burst item again.
I think randuin's is actually a bad change, on hit is finally getting changed to be very crit focused with less ad, so being able to lower crit damage would finally be worth it, because you don't have to deal with 2 variables, I think a better change would be making randuin's an hp and ability haste item, take out the armor and keep the crit damage reduction passive

I don't understand why Riot is removing every single unique champion mechanic from the game, like aurelion sol's balls, skarner's crystals, and now corki's package. Maybe it was needed, but straight up removing the only unique mechanic a champion has is dumb.

Removal of slow resist on swifies (and partially tenacity nerf of mercs) makes a lot of immobile champs like udyr even worse with any slow resulting in death sentence.
Nerf of early ms on supports just put so many options out of the window. Unless you have a dash or a very long ranged cc you can't punish overextended midlaner anymore cose they can just walk away and keep you out of range. For example maokai or leona can't really gank mid properly anymore cose if they just start walking away when they see you in lane wo aint catching them.
It's not even about being earlier to the gank than expected, its about not beign able to punish anythng other than enemy walking into your range.

Riot killed both singed and master yi. Tho i highly doubt this fixed the wind shitters, they also GAVE YI A NERF. The only reason he is a champ is because of his lvl 6 passive and lethal tempo.
You are wrong on so much. They are removing so many slow and cc resists. Tenacity is in short supply. Meaning, hard cc and slows are so much more going to be in the game and more annoying. Ranged will take over top lane, melee has no easy movement or tenacity anymore. No one plays predator anymore because they nerfed it into the ground previously. It was a good counter to ranged tops, being able to catch them off guard. We already have several items that give move speed on hit, there was no need or good reason to do that to swifties. It's like you only have a surface level of understanding these changes. If it's not for Vel, doesn't matter. This is going to screw this game up like they did with mythics.

Yikes all of items/Runes i use have been nerfed so If Font of life is only on immobilize then its useless on yuumi and semi useless on lulu ironically it was the strongest rune on yuumi so now shes just extremely weak unplayable. Relentless hunter nerf is fine but Vow nerf makes it useless on enchanters and Yuumi so again Yuumi completely useless and rip my builds. Rip

Can no longer qss Mord or Malz R, removed slow reduction on Swifties, and reduced tenacity on Mercs. They have fully committed to making it "league of cc". I'm so glad I uninstalled lol in November. Fuck Riot.

This is something they should do at the start of a season and do a lot of testing before they drop it on us... But we all know Riot's just gonna dump shit on us again and let us deal with it.

I believe it's 20% of your own MR as shred.
Previously it was "5+1.2% max health" (which I believe counted your own max health) switched to "20% MR". So now it will shred MR based on your own MR if I'm understanding this correctly.
I think you’re right, I think it becomes a flat 20MR reduction for anyone using it, instead of scaling off of health.

Azzap you're lying bro few day ago i was bored af so i decided to play a predator full speed rammus build and i never ever had more fun than this game i went up to 1800ms on rammus and was almost teleporting to the tf on top of that we still won the game so I'm very sad right now seeing you saying it was useless :(
