@@katemiller7874 you’re right. Life is short, so it’s better to go on an amazing vacation and creating lasting memories than buy a bag that you’ll rarely take out anywhere and when you do you’ll constantly worry about someone trying to steal it or you damaging it.
Tati, I love the fact that recently you are posting videos on more diverse topics. You are spicing up the content and the conversations on the comment section. You are going in depth about nutrition, ingredients and your thoughts about lifestyle. This is refreshing.
It's always refreshing to see people begin their journey of search and finding things of real substance and meaning in life, especially in places you would least expect.
My husband has an expensive pair of sneakers that his teenaged son saved up and bought for his dad❤️🩹to this day my hubby refuses to wear them…they sit in the box on a shelf in his closet. And every time his son comes over and sees they STILL haven’t been worn, I can kinda feel his little heart break. I love your words!
I always always think that luxury brands that have their logo all over, especially clothes are the most tacky thing ever, classy doesn't need neon signs telling the word "look I am wearing xyz". Love this video, simplicity is glorious.
I just bought myself a LV. I am 46. I have reached financial maturity and decided to buy myself something ridiculously expensive. It’s the first time in my entire life I have done something for me. I ❤ that fracking purse.
Loving the reborn Tati! I think because you’re echoing what so many of us are feeling. Simplicity, back to basics, decluttering, figuring out what is really worth our time, money and attention in this crazy world🙌🏼 I’m here for all of it!
The message of this video is far beyond “what I regret buying” .. truly a discussion around the dangers of consumerism and how we lose ourselves in labels. And also very glad that through this journey - you realized that Chanel choker is atrocious 😂
Aside from the choker's appearance, when she put it around her neck I was like - WOW! That's like an actual manifestation of being CHOKED by brands and labels! Kind of crazy!
Ultimate class - being able to recognize that it's not the names you wear but the unique items that add emotional value to your life (and usually those things bring more joy!!!)
I love this video!!! I personally just took time off from getting my nails done, lashes and fake tanner. And let me tell you, stripping yourself of superficial thing is so cleansing for the soul. To remove all the extra and love yourself is so freeing!!! Go girl!! ❤️❤️❤️
So I never comment. But I loved this video - loved the authenticity and it’s so refreshing to hear someone pull the best labels and just say “why”?? Does it add to your worth? No. Does it change your life? No. Does it make you any better than anyone else? No. Thank you for using a public platform to show all that glitters isn’t gold and does not define your life! So appreciate you sharing!
Your bubble bath analogy is like me with luxury candles I’ve finally gotten to the point of just burn the dang candle and enjoy it instead of letting it sit in a drawer for years!
I got married and had kids very young and as a result, I kept putting off completing college. Fell in love with a YSL bag and told myself and everyone in my life that I would only buy it when I completed college. My husband and I closed on our third and hopefully forever home this year, I’m graduating summa cum laude and am enrolled to start my MBA in May… and I just picked up my first designer bag (the Ysl one) last Friday. I don’t care much about the labels and keeping up, but man, I was so proud to justify that one for myself. I could’ve afforded it years ago but I know that game is a slippery slope
I’m in a similar spot- I think if you have good hearted intentions and it is something you did for yourself, kudos to you! But it also sounds like you have a circle that keeps you humble in the best possible way. Love that. Congrats on your success!!!
I love these "awakening" type videos. I admire the direction you are taking and can clearly see that it is divinely inspired. Proud of you and James for keeping it real.
Moving away from L.A. has had such a positive affect on you! You’re maturing to a place in life where you realize your self worth isn’t determined by all the luxury things and how other people see you. BTW…. I have a garment from Target that’s the exact pattern as your YSL scarf! Sell the items and donate to those in need. That’s what makes one feel amazing.
Yes.. but in LA she went outside a lot more to get coffee, casual dinners, shopping, etc. Staying home all the time is not good for anyone's mental health.
To be fair - while I'm not saying YSL prices are the ideal, one of the best moves I made in my pursuit of buying items that have LONGEVITY was to stop buying Target clothing/accessories lol. I don't pay a lot more but I do pay a bit more now and for the most part my things last a ton longer
That is the problem with luxury bags: you can’t wear them to the supermarket and if you wear them to dinner or the theater you become a target for muggers, or because they are so expensive you are afraid of scuffs etc. I am also quite small and I find that these bags are heavy even with nothing in them! In essence, the item owns you!
I think it depends where you live and on your lifestyle. I went (walked) to deli this morning with Dior Saddle but dressed really casually. But I live in central London and last time I went food shopping (yesterday) at Waitrose Canary Wharf, I counted 5 x LV bags and at least 3 x Chanel bags.
@@katemiller7874 I live in NYC and they are targeting the "nice areas" to mug people. Quick google search can confirm this fact so what was your point??
This was really interesting to watch. I am autistic and there is just certain things like designer items and luxury clothes that don’t make sense to me at all. Because my clothes are all about not putting me into sensory overload and listening to you talk about buying certain things to be liked or perceived a certain way is just so fascinating to me and sounds exhausting. Thank you for talking about this as I’ve only ever heard people make the point about „spoiling yourself“ and „self-love“.
You know autism has nothing to do with disliking or liking fashion or understanding it right? That’s just you as a person and that’s fine. But plenty of autism spectrum people love luxury and fashion.
Same, I have ADHD and I suspect I might be autistic, and I've always chose comfort over fashion. I have some clothes I never wear because I'm just not happy in them, because I keep pulling at it or the fabric feels bad on my skin. It pisses my mother off and she calls me frumpy because I'm more of a jeans and t-shirt kind of person, but I'm comfortable and I really don't feel the need to impress people anymore as I grow older. I'm in my late 30's, if someone doesn't like me because of the way I look or that I don't wear makeup all the time, then that's THEIR problem, not mine.
The lack of concern for superficial appearances and image is one of the things I admire most about my autistic kids and friends. Most of us waste so much of our lives and energies on this rather than accepting ourselves and being true to who we are. All of the ‘stuff’ is such a silly distraction from what’s important in life. All the best to you!!
This video shows true growth and maturity. Realizing you’ve made mistakes and you have regrets and sharing them with us is inspiring. Thank you for this.
Honestly, this is so refreshing. I think pre-pandemic everything was so fast paced, so focused on consumerism and materialistic type stuff that everyone was just caught in this tornado. Now, I feel like most people have scaled way back and focused on needs vs. wants you know? As a almost 40 year old woman who hasn’t had any “work” done, I would be interested in what foundations work best for combo maturing skin that doesn’t break apart and settle into wrinkles. I’m finding my makeup routine needs to change as I’m aging. Foundation is the worst part for me.😆 Any video’s about quality products of any kind are a great idea! Great video Tati!❤
I absolutely love this. I'm in law school, and I'm ready to get to the point where I can afford classic luxury items for myself one day. Watching you as someone who's experienced a lot in life, and as someone who is currently going through a metamorphosis stage in life, not only provides clarity but serves as a reminder not to be engulfed by the materialist aspect of life. Thank you for sharing and being so transparent with your journey
Definitely keep in mind that it’s not worth buying something that is crazy expensive just for the name, why spend a few thousand on something if you can spend a few hundred for the same quality. I agree with Tati about finding those smaller businesses that make hand made amazing quality item, because if you are going to spend a lot at least you are putting money into the pocket of the person that worked hard where as what do the people get paid that make stuff for some of the Luxary brands? It’s all pointless. I get buying nice shoes or bag, but socks, tee shirts, jeans, sweats, sweatshirts, a lot of those type of things are so pointless.
Congratulations on your law school! Once you pass the bar, get your Lux item because you worked your butt off on this. But it can be a classic piece that doesn’t have to be showy, but a feel good item.
I love this message. There are certain brands that I consistently buy because they don't let me down and I literally LIVE in them. Like my jeans, or really well made basics. Those are important to me. It's okay to enjoy these things but not to get lost in keeping up with everyone else around you.
I've been wearing my Textured Neutrals palette all week, and have gotten so many compliments! I'm so sad we won't get the chance to see Enchanted Textures, but this is a great reminder that looking good and feeling good don't have to break the bank.
Omg I love that palette! I’m glad you were able to get your hands on it before it was gone. I will forever keep that palette as a makeup collector item.
I 100 percent agree with your feelings.I have sold 30 luxury bags this year because I never used them. After Covid and the loss of my beloved Pomeranian I just lost interest in buying luxury items. I realized that I rather just do things that really matter with my money. I don’t even enjoy watching luxury unboxings anymore. I think the pandemic really grounded so many of us.
I love this. As someone grappling with materialism, this hits hard. Tati, I love your salt-of-the-earth approach and honesty. Really refreshing. Your journey is so amazing.
I love fashion and accessories theme videos. I appreciate someone like you talking about how ridiculous it is to buy things to impress. Supporting small businesses and artist is amazing! And I applaud you for that. I do come to you to get the scoop on what’s good out there. I hope you don’t stop your review videos 🙏
Talking about the wedding ring and “uh we’re not gonna stay there long” WAS SO ME. good for you!! Not going to a place where you end up getting super upset with yourself. Absolutely loved that. ❤
OR.... DO go there once or twice...that way you learn whatever lessons there are to learn; but also, so you aren't gathering subjects that you have to constantly avoid. If there are things you can't even talk to yourself about, then there are definitely underlying issues that WILL at some point come up in a (most likely) messy messy way!
I once was asked about having luxury items...if everyone was blind, would you still purchase it? lol It made me realize what that question really meant.
I honestly think this is one of my fave videos of yours now. The growth and honestly is so great to see. I hope that anyone who needs to hear and see this will take on board what you've said and make positive changes to their mindsets too.
YESSSS!!! DEFINITELY when I make luxury purchases, NOW I carefully determine the "mileage" I get out of pieces, before it was always , "yes gimme ALL the trendy trends" now I really look into more practicality
I love this type of content! I love watching you and hearing your wisdom. Of course I think it can be easy to say “none of this really mattered” after you’ve had it but until you have it you don’t have that perspective. The double edged sword of life but I absolutely hear you and will be taking your advice
What’s completely ridiculous, if I have to return something at like Walmart or anywhere, I will ALWAYS make sure I’m like dressed. I have my own business that I run from home so 99% of the time I’m in leggings and a tshirt because I’m just at home. I’ve noticed that if I go in, no makeup, not dressed nicely, I legit get hassled about returning something vs if I’m dressed and have makeup on! Even AT WALMART of all places!!
very true...sadly. At the deli at the grocery store, no make-up, leggings and just regular winter boots, they just looked at me and kept talking!! Ugh!
The message of this video resonates with me so much, and it seems others feel the same way. I have been waiting for you to make this video because in the past 1.5 years you have mentioned many times of feeling a sense of relief leaving the L.A. lifestyle. I am happy to watch your journey of living a more fulfilling life by surrounding yourself with what truly matters.
Something I heard on actually a luxury content channel of all places was "Things are to be used and people are to be loved, not the other way around" and I've been trying to remind myself that, even just down to the nice dinner plates that are for guests. Like no, it's just stuff and we should to use it. Xx
I LOVED this video. You spoke the truth and what you've seen and how you felt then and your why. Especially after the pandemic, everyone is rethinking a lot of things and their life and for you to share with us on camera, is GREAT. Thank you for this.
You're inspiring me to clean out and organize my vanity/ beauty space & closet. I have thrown out, passed along and donated SO much makeup, skin & body care, nail polish & products, beauty & hair tools, clothes, shoes, purses and even electronics. Thanks for the inspiration, information and encouragement! 😊💜💋
I am personally loving this videos, this whole new Tati. I feel you are more at ease and in tune with yourself and that's beautiful. This video is in so many ways so relatable and I love to see a huge content creator being real and making me feel like we do are just people and we don't need stuff to define us.
You should write a book. I feel like you have a lot of insights on life that people could learn from in a bio. Your an inspiration. I’ve been watching for over 7 years and I have to admit that I stopped watching for a bit at the end of your time in LA( not that I stopped liking you) but the content got to LA glam for me. I love what you are doing and how you are growing and evolving. Thank you for being a much-needed voice of reason especially to your younger audience in these crazy days of over consumerism and social media pressures.
THANK YOU for still being a normal person. Thank you for keeping your two feet firmly on the ground while still allowing your mind to dream. You’re doing it right and that’s why so many people feel connected to you. You are genuine and you are real - so thank you!
Tati, I love to see you on this personal, spiritual journey that you're on! So refreshing to see on the internet, when everything else is about superficial stuff. ❤
Treating yourself doesn't have to be brand name or expensive! For me, a $100 bottle of my signature perfume that my husband loves on me was a lovely treat, but to some it would just be pocket change and not valuable. Value is what ever something means to you, not a brand or a price point. And yes, I have a very expensive leather briefolo and matching messenger bag and expensive fountain pen that have never left my house because I am too afraid to ruin their pristine perfection. Ridiculous!
I‘m so impressed. I myself am an avid luxury lover, mostly investment pieces and because I just really appreciate the quality of the product, the heritage of the brand and the uniqueness of the design. I once read about someone asking herself whether she would buy the desired item without the logo and used this as a tool to understand if it was the item or the feeling/ prestige she was wanting, this helped me a lot realizing that it was indeed often the prestige that came from it, or that‘s what I thought, that I was seeking for. Admitting that to myself was hard, so Tati, chapeau to you for having the balls to admit that to the whole world. That‘s true growth!
Omg yes to alllll the videos! I would watch you decorate your house, shop for groceries, grow a damn root garden lol or any other lifestyle moment you are excited to share. I’ve realized lately that I gravitate to the creator more than the content part of the whole content creator thing, and I have been excited to follow along with the ones that deviated from the path that I happened to find them on, for one reason or another (and I would be more than happy to do the same with you).
Luxury regrets are like a punch to the gut! And I've been rooting for you throughout this chapter. Can't wait for the next chapter and the maybe an epilogue that bridges us into a podcast where James and BEYYYN spill the tea from their perspectives ☕ 😆
I LOVE this video Tati! I’ve been feeling the same way the last 2 years. Luxury can be toxic if over consumed. I’m on a more spiritual path too. I love seeing your journey ❤️❤️❤️
I loved this video. My husbands ex is all about status and attention. And she’s made it but also made it a statement that people are nothing if you don’t have anything luxury. I grew up being grateful for what I can have. Better to be humble than loud. Thanks Tati ❤
I haven't even finished this video... I just got past the Chanel choker and when you said the things that you said it made me just want to tell you that this is wonderful, because this is where our conscience is and God put it there for a reason so He could communicate to us.. I'm so glad that you're hearing that voice. Love you, Tati❤️
I REALLY enjoyed this video Tati! I would love to see more of your collection that you have purchased and the stories behind it. You have always worked hard and I think if a person works hard, they deserve to splurge! By the way, I read a story of a guy that lost his wedding band years ago and he finally found it. It was in an ice tray frozen in the ice. Lol - They just never used that particular ice tray. I pray your ring turns up. ❤
I found a really special ring that I was very attached to like 4 years ago and couldn't find it anywhere... until one day I decided to get back to working out and found it at the bottom of my GYM CLOTHES DRAWER 😂
I didn't watch many of your videos to the end before but I like the new direction you're heading and how real you are now so I'm finding myself even more in love with your content! Thank you for your honesty!
I just have to say that your attitude to life now is so inspiring. Your journey seems to be coming full circle and I wish you and James a lifetime of happiness. You are an amazing woman Tati. Much love to you xXx
Such a fabulous refreshing, authentic video Tati. I can think of one particular RUclipsr who definitely needs to watch this - and learn. I cannot stomach the boastful, bragging that is so prevalent nowadays, it’s so damn shallow 🤮. Big shout out to you for this. Love and respect from the UK 😊🇬🇧
I loved this video! Partly because luxury will never be in my lifestyle or budget and it's fun to see what you've bought, both good and bad. The other part because I love the shift you've had through your spiritual growth. Prayers to your whole family!
I love the message of the video! I would really like to see more videos similar to this. Videos on quality fashion , jewelry etc ( on a budget ) Hair, skincare … i love how you always look cute but classy. I would also like to see you and even James in the kitchen together ❤
I honestly am so grateful that I've never been into spending money like this. It's such a waste and having luxury bags it's not a bad thing but buying them out of control makes no sense to me 😅 I'm in my early 20's and never been into it but I'm so happy for you Tati that you've gotten past this in a spiritual way 💗💗
I love your thoughts on this topic! I once wore a $14 dress from Kohl’s with designer sunglasses, but my best accessory was the confidence I had in myself. That is what people should see. ❤
This is hands down my favorite video of yours. It’s AWESOME you were able to develop this mindset-because it is especially hard to do when you can afford probably anything you could ever want.
Yes! All luxury designer items and diamonds! I'm so happy I decided to stop buying them, and sold everything back. They don't define us, humans. Btw,, this video doesn't seem preachy to me. I absolutely agree with you!
I bought myself a Valentino bag it didn’t cost the earth but for me it was a splurge and I absolutely love it, I wear it every time I go out and it brings me just as much joy looking at it on my shelf. But I totally agree that I have one off pieces of clothing in my wardrobe that brings me just as much joy xx
This resonates with me so much. After all these years I realized that dressing for other people is such a waste of time. I think what we wear tells so much about us but luxury brands are USING us to promote their brand. Who wants to be a walking billboard for Gucci? I want people to see ME when I walk into a room, not my handbag or my shoes. Fun fact: I have gotten the MOST compliments on a straw shoulder bag that I bought at Target for $40 last year. It caught my eye and it was an impulse buy and I am so happy I did. Sometimes we need to develop our own sense of style, then trust our instincts . Sometimes the simplest things can make an impression on others, and if is a $40 bag from Target or a smile to a stranger, in the end it is our human connections that matter most of all.
I'm loving this real new Tati . So happy for you that you're not affraid to be just you and not just impress people anymore. It's such a truer, beautiful version of you ❤
Wow that black Chanel tote bag is amazing!! And I know exactly what you mean about not wanting to use something, I am a paper crafter and have favorite pieces that I don’t use and they just sit collecting dust when I should be using them up! Love this sort of video!
I’m doing the same thing Tati. No poly clothing (too sweaty for Florida heat). Natural fiber sheets and towels and blankets. More minimal choices for my closet. Purged makeup down to essentials I love and will wear. Even skincare and toiletries like soaps and things. I sold off most of my vintage brooch collection. It’s a good feeling to part with things that are gathering dust.
This was me in my mid 30’s. I have no one to impress and would rather pay off my car more than buy another designer bag. Plus the prices have gone up!!!
"Shoes are the exclamation point at the end of your leg." (Kate Lanphear) I regret a lot of luxury purchases that were definite flexes, but I will never regret my shoe choices. Edited to add: I LOVE the new Tati. This was a great video and I love where you're at now, girl.
There needs to be more people normalising the fact that it is okay if you cant afford materialistic things and they dont define you...there needs to be more people doing videos like this. Thank you for setting that example Tati!
I felt this. Once I was able to get my first LV I loved everything about it, along woth the perks of "respect" as well... but slowly I'm becoming in that position where I don't fit well with the bag anymore. I was also in a space to impress those around me and started to develop a shopaholic ideation. I have been slowly steering away from that but it's been tough. I have been feeling the way you feel Tati that once it's time to wear any of those luxury brands it just doesn't fit with my character.
Oh my gosh, that was not my intention. I had brainstormed a dozen titles like "I'm Done wasting Money on Luxury Goods" ... and then I decided I was Done with trying to name the video 😂 Thanks so much for watching Jenn! xo's 💕
@@cmurra come on now, I’d say she’s in a preTTy good place in life and doesn’t feel the need to “resort” to anything. Haven’t you ever had so much on your plate that you decide simplicity is what’s gonna win this time? .. something tells me no..

It’s amazing this self reflection work that you have done about materialistic things. I went the same road a few years ago and it’s so freeing, it just feels good
Prayers are being sent for you as well as Puka. Please keep us posted on everything. I never got into the luxury stuff, but I definitely felt like I needed to keep up with everyone by buying all the makeup and skincare. So much so I put myself right into debt. I've been on a no-buy since the beginning of the year, and it's been very difficult, but it's something I definitely had to do. The only things I buy are the necessities like shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste etc. I have boxes stacked in my house that I still need to go through and decide when I'm going to keep and get rid of. I'm just so mad at myself! Anytime I saw a review of something, I had to go and buy it. I burned through so much money doing that. Really sad!
Don't be so hard on yourself! Yes, you made a mistake, but you've also woke up and are working on fixing it. Give yourself the credit of growing up and focus your energy on the change whenever you may be dwelling on the past mistakes.
Thank you for being so honest about these things! Would love to see a deep dive into your designer footwear. What's comfortable? What have you worn the most? Story time about when you wore some of them! That would be so interesting! ❤❤❤

Leaving LA so that you can "cut out toxins and live a less materialistic life" is the most LA thing you can do.
@@realityvonqueef thank you, this 100%%=😂
I love how your channel is evolving and it’s not just about makeup. We need to be more aware of what we invest our money and health into.
That is the problem with luxury bags: you can’t wear them to the supermarket and if you wear them to dinner or the theater you become a target for muggers, or because they are so expensive you are afraid of scuffs etc. I am also quite small and I find that these bags are heavy even with nothing in them! In essence, the item owns you!
you worded it perfectly.
Some of us live in nice areas. We don’t get mugged when wearing nice things
@@katemiller7874 I live in NYC and they are targeting the "nice areas" to mug people. Quick google search can confirm this fact so what was your point??
@@katemiller7874 Unwarranted spitefullness much?
This is the video we all needed.
Thank you for sharing this Tati.
This will have a bigger impact than you think.
This video shows true growth and maturity. Realizing you’ve made mistakes and you have regrets and sharing them with us is inspiring. Thank you for this.
THANK YOU FOR BRINGING UP SUCH CRUCIAL HEALTH CONCERNS !!! THE BEAUTY FROM WITHIN IS THE HEALTH FROM WITHIN !!!
YOU GO GIRL !!!!!
If you dig how the luxury goods are made or how this world is working
It’s awful
I just love how much you have evolved into such a peaceful, Honest person! You are so at ease and it really shows!
I'm soooo glad you talked about this and how honest you were. There are a LOT of people who can learn from this.
I once was asked about having luxury items...if everyone was blind, would you still purchase it? lol It made me realize what that question really meant.
Reason why only buy smooth leather 😂
I honestly think this is one of my fave videos of yours now. The growth and honestly is so great to see. I hope that anyone who needs to hear and see this will take on board what you've said and make positive changes to their mindsets too.
YESSSS!!! DEFINITELY when I make luxury purchases, NOW I carefully determine the "mileage" I get out of pieces, before it was always , "yes gimme ALL the trendy trends" now I really look into more practicality
Same!! I buy dupes/ inspired by luxury bags for something super trendy and then classics I buy luxury and I use them!!
I've followed you for quite a few years. So happy to see you grow as a person and influencer. Love your content.
Thank you for being such a kind and wonderfully real human being. I have loved seeing your growth and love this new path you are on!

This feels so conversational and natural. Love this format and the honesty. Totally refreshing on all fronts. xx
You are genuine and you are real - so thank you!
its the young ones that really need to hear all of this, it breaks my heart to see them pin their self worth on such vapid things.
She's going to be surprised in the afterlife.
Luv hanging out with you & thx for this video

I like this new Tati & James dynamic. Its healing!

Tati after three months: My New Sephora Haul!
Lol. We all do that :D

But make-up is her job so she has to do her hauls!
Would love a part 2! I love the sentiment behind this video.
Yes more STORYTIME and behind the scenes we love love love it!! I love hearing the storys

Why feel embarrassed? I wear mine occasionally and don't feel embarrassed at all. I also don't feel embarrassed when I wear my Zara purse.

Loved you for years Tati, but I’m LOVING this new you. You seem so happy and refreshed and loving life and I’m here for it!! Love you always ❤️
LOVE you are sharing your journey of kicking the materialistic lifestyle. You have grown so much!
Love that you are supporting independent brands/artists! ❤

She can sell it to me if she doesn’t want these things. Guarantee she won’t part with any.
GURL! You can’t just say “I’m done” like that, you damn near gave me a heart attack 😩 #StayForever 😘
Oh my gosh, that was not my intention. I had brainstormed a dozen titles like "I'm Done wasting Money on Luxury Goods" ... and then I decided I was Done with trying to name the video 😂 Thanks so much for watching Jenn!

Really sad!
Oh sweetie, I'm with you. I haven't bought anything in only three months and I'm literally so depressed. :( We can do this!
Don't be so hard on yourself! Yes, you made a mistake, but you've also woke up and are working on fixing it. Give yourself the credit of growing up and focus your energy on the change whenever you may be dwelling on the past mistakes.
