Rick Britton, Great Job Rusty, wow Autel is killing it, please becareful, storm chasing, I'm still waiting for my autel, so keep on doing a great job, I appreciate you so much for taking out your time to improve the flight experience, with a great American Drone. Sincerely Rick from Mo and God bless you and your family
That was more like an unintended sideways landing. I was glad to see that it didn't tip all the way over onto the props and motors. I subbed to the channel, you work hard on it i can tell and that deserves a sub. Thanks for sharing these features on the beta app
So this new app was released to the public on July 20 2020 in the play store. I went out to fly after doing updates on my phone on july 25th not realizing that I updated the Autel Explorer app. I got the pre flight checks about battery and props like described in beta app for testers last month. After that I was thinking did I get the new updated app? I went into intelligent photo flight modes and low and behold there was the smart orbit option. It was like Christmas 🎄 that day as i was also trying out my new foxfury light set and then discovered I had the new smart orbit and also i like the way the drone flies now way way better on turning and flying tight circles. It used to stop dead and do that hard jerk before you could turn and many DJI OWNERS complained about that with evo 2. I was very happy about how smooth this drone flies now its way more smooth when turning now. I like the beeping from the OA sensors like dji does also. I just turn down the volume on my phone so the beeps are very low and I can hear the lady robot voice still but she isn't super loud. I love that you can disable voice command also Very very impressive update Autel👏 👌 Can tell Autel listens to constructive criticism from it customers and they act on it. That along with superb customer service they have compared to other high end drone companies DJI 🙄
Nice video... you didn’t crash... you walked away. I totally agree about the flying low, and the turning off of the individual sensor sides (Top, Bottom, Left, Right, etc.) I can totally see how that smart orbit gives an awesome shot, and having the avoidance gives you that extra confidence that you will be flying the next day too. Wonder how well the smart orbit will work on a moving target? As for the using of the cell phones processor, yeah, I have noticed that they do this on DJI products as well. Even more so as the MM seem to drain my cell battery for normal flight, whereas my EVO 1 only uses up my cell battery for smart modes. I think if someone plans on using the smart modes they may want to make sure they have a newer phone that has excellent battery life and a fast processor. The fast processor will also help the tracking as it appears as if they use the video and drone gps sent to the phone for the tracking and calculating the next moves. The drone itself, I think, does not really do much for the tracking, but it does do the obstacle avoidance on its own. Also the battery life of the EVO II helps out a lot. Well, great info, and well presented. Me likee! I am still on the fence about upgrading as I think for now I can get the shots, and fun, I need out of my EVO 1, and I the dread of crashing a 2k drone versus a 1k drone (1k is bad enough). Maybe when I get more time to get back into photography more professionally again I will be able to justify the cost a little more. Keep them coming, and let us know when you get the nerve you to use the drone on those creaky old shacks you like so much... I like them too.
Seems like only stationary. But it’s beta. I take the case off and most of the time I’m recording on the phone so I know it takes a bunch so I’ll try it wo recording.
Call that a crash... ha-ha... yes, more of a rash... no damage I hope though... ? anyway, I've been waiting for the BIG one... but you are a brave guy and trying these things for me is just fine, just loaded the new 1.6.5 Android App Beta, in fact it loaded itself... not really had a chance to try it yet, I'll let you do that... :-) keep it up, look forward to them now. Still haven't managed to create a RUclips intro yet, you said in Adobe Premier, well I can't find it... Cheers
Very cool! Do you know if it will track and orbit an object that is moving? At the end of your video it looked like it might do that. My Typhoon H used to be able to do that until a firmware update deleted that ability :-( Also, why don't you want downward obstacle avoidance in orbit mode? Just so you can get closer to the ground?
I ordered my Autel evo 2 with the Crystal Sky adapter. I'll get a bigger screen (7.8 inch) and a screen that doesn't wash out. I got Lazik eye surgery years ago, so I am an eagle eye at far stuff, but my "up close" vision is not as good as it used to be. There's another You Tuber on here that does search and rescue and that's where I got the idea from.
Since this looks to be optical based it should be able to orbit a moving object. Not being able to set speed and other parameters is frustrating and also applies to Precision Flight. Hope Autel can address that.
Rusty Nelson Photography ...oh, well I just got my Evo2P and need more experience with it. I just flew it in the living room last night, and it seemed to be held back by sensors, but would gradually go.... (I had on the prop guards.)
You can turn off the sensors BUt with that said the sensors on the bottom still seem to pick up things and keep it from going into the ground. I've done some testing on that along an slightly and gradually ellivated ground. It will still follow the ground and not crash if you are flying "gently"
Dose Obstacle avoidance works in smart orbit or any other intelligence modes ? I hit my EVO II 6K twice doing a slow smart orbit, sensors didn't seem to pick up the obstacles!!
I should be working. I know when I first tried the beta version there was not obstacle avoidance at all. But they put it in eventually before the real version came out.
The problem with the iphone and recording is that the phone overheats. there is not a sunscreen that will help. The iphone will dim to a very low level so you can hardly see it inside. I have to take the phone and cool it down to bring the brightness up.
Yes I do did do my homework. Read all the quotes I have in here about directly from the manual. Take the time before you comment and read the rest. I have talked to Autel Multiple times about all that I have done.
I totally thought when I took off from the truck the first time I was going to have a problem. But after many tests targeted at that there has not been a problem. It will even actually return right to the back of the truck or to my new position without a problem. Have done many tests with that takeoff. With that said I would not recommend it for all trucks, flyers or drones.
Rusty Nelson Photography ...well, I crashed my Phantom 4 Pro into my camper van, I think because of all the metal. Others have said to beware of concrete with rebar. But maybe the Evo doesn’t have this problem....
Yes those things can be a problem and I totally understand. But for some reason it does not seem to affect anything when I use the truck that way. I do not even get an magnetic interference warning. Have fun and the prop guards are fun if you are flying in tight spaces. amzn.to/35A0pCT ruclips.net/video/tCxuesm6LTo/видео.html
Just got the new iPhone 12 pro and have no real problem so far with the screen. But I will keep playing around with it. Subscribe Button: bit.ly/3orJrgp

You’re welcome
Awesome video, thanks for covering this new feature. Autel evo 2 pro is my first drone so im trying to learn as much as I can from videos like these.
Good luck.

My thoughts exactly. no harm

Gracias. Haré algunos más pronto. Acabo de regresar de vacaciones.
thank you for showing this nice feature - well done saludos de costa rica
Thanks and welcome
Great video as always, It would be great if autel could lower the orbit on the evo 1 as well.
Marketing...lol
@@RustyNelsonPhotography sorry didn't realise

Not moving that I can tell but it’s beta.

Not being able to set speed and other parameters is frustrating and also applies to Precision Flight. Hope Autel can address that.
You can set the speeds and such after it’s start. But would be nice to preset. Also I tried moving. Did not work but it’s beta...we will see
Excellent video, thanks.
Thanks
You can customize a bottom button to turn sensors off and on.
If you have done your homework and talked to Autel you wold realize that you CAN NOT turn off ALL the sensing.

I have the EVO 1, Autel is a great company.
Seems to be that way for me also. Have fun and thanks for stopping by

Would be interested to know how well it works at orbiting a moving object at walking speeds, bicycling speeds.
I tried but I think it’s stationary only
@@RustyNelsonPhotography Ah, good to know, and thanks for the reply. Hopefully it can be added at launch/post beta.
Hi what program are you used to edit the video? I just got the evo 2 pro
Hey Great to hear. Hope you have fun with it. I have the Adobe package with Premiere, Photoshop and Lightroom.
I have a sunshade for my iPhone. And take off sunglasses to see a dim screen.
The problem with the iphone and recording is that the phone overheats. there is not a sunscreen that will help. The iphone will dim to a very low level so you can hardly see it inside. I have to take the phone and cool it down to bring the brightness up.
be careful please also i crashed with my EVO 2 but I paid repair fee ^^ some sensor can't be detective.
Thanks.
Great idea about orbiting low. You have good info, but you must not have a lot of experience flying drones, and you don’t always do your homework.
Yes I do did do my homework. Read all the quotes I have in here about directly from the manual. Take the time before you comment and read the rest. I have talked to Autel Multiple times about all that I have done.
Should NOT take off from truck. All that metal will throw off,the compass.
