the balancer has an air, and a water passage in it. i tapped into the air/vac section of it for map sensor when i had it off. ofc changed the o-rings aswel. If you look at the part of it wich is closest to the front of the engine,. you will se that nissan has placed a air bleeder there. since it is the higest water point in the engine. its allso the spot where people take out the air bleed bolt, and conect one of the hoses for s swirl pot setup.
Allso,. the passage at the end towards the firewall on it,. wich you want to block off goes to the oem water pipes that runs behind the engine towards the turboes. iam guessing the setup for where you get water to a single turbo is different. but if you block it off,. then the oem pipe thing has to be blocked aswel.
oh man you had a chance to paint that plenum while it was out... when i painted mine it was such a hard time taking it out and putting it back on ... no room to spear ... cant wait to see final results and that motor in
nautilus1999 I took my cylinder head off in the engine bay so I understand what lays underneath the plenum. It's a mess, and scares me. But yeah it's a lot easier with it all out :)
Backyard Mechanic last time when i removed plenum of my r33 i was like perfect time to paint it....tell me you will paint your plenum. 😀😀 when is the next video coming.
Vikingsunite Short block is without a cylinder head and a long block is with a cylinder head. The N1 blocks have a ID stamp saying 24U. Mine is not an N1 block but it has a long nose crank so this is not the original engine. My current motor either came from a late 32 or a 33 GTR :)
You are going with an aftermarket intake plenum correct? I remember you saying in a previous episode you were going to stick with stock then text popped up onto the screen of the actual one you were planning on using. Unless I am insane 😂 Great videos dude! I am from Melbourne 👍
Jordan Bishop I really wanted to get a hypertune plenum... then I ran out of money :( you are right I did say that but that was like a year ago. My job and stuff has changed since :(
Backyard Mechanic Such as life, and like most things when it comes to building cars. You are doing a really great job of making the original look awesome anyways. Who knows what the future holds👍 Good luck mate
Backyard Mechanic Hey if it's any help Otaku Garage have a nice intake plenum for a lot cheaper, one of them even comes with the option of retaining the factory itb's. Here's the link to all there manifolds. www.otakugarage.com.au/shop/intake/
it's an air balancer tube..its how your car idles when the throttle bodies are closed. the AAC valve fills this balancer tube with more air as the load on the engine changes i.e. say you switch on the Air con...
Backyard Mechanic haha I know that impatient feeling but those cars are such a pain in the arse to work on, I've learnt my lesson to be patient with gtr's haha
Backyard Mechanic You have the disease my friend, I have an r33 gtr series 3 and an s15 silvia that is now 5 months in the build. If only i had more money for more cars....
Anthony Flood I love it but cars are my life. The R33 is eventually going to my mrs but for now I'll drive that and the GTR. I just hope RUclips helps fund my cars so I can keep building and keep making videos :)
love seeing youre updates m8 :) ive allso been doing the same jobs on my 33 gtr almost at the same time. question ; did you upgrade youre sump baffling? i went with the nismo baffle plate kit with trap doors. allso welded on an extention to get some more oil volume. And an an fitting for oil return from catch tank.
5ltrclubby Bought it for $12,000 AUS! Had 455hp and single turbo conversion. Upgraded fuel pump, injectors, gt3582R on a original 6boost manifold. With some other supporting stuff aswell. I have spend about (kinda lost track) $6,000-$8,000. But still have a lot of things I want to do. Keeping in mind I've spent $2,300 JUST on machining the block and head
That thing you mentioned at 8:00 is called a balance tube. It's for vacuum after the butterfly valves for idle air control and other stuff.
ViViD DREAMS Sweet thanks man, after that day I figured it out but didn't know the technical name for that part! :)

Lawd! That engine is looking beautiful😍
Adrian Cortez You should see it in person 😍

He only loosely attached it, he still has plenty of time :)

much love from the united states !!
loving it!
awesome bro!
Is that an N1 short block ?
Do you even know what a short block and long block is?

you plan on pushing big power? sump baffles? were those intake manifold gaskets oem paper? they tend to blow out at high boost levels
Anthony Flood I plan for it. But for now no I just want to drive it. Perhaps they will be things in the future I think.
Backyard Mechanic haha I know that impatient feeling but those cars are such a pain in the arse to work on, I've learnt my lesson to be patient with gtr's haha
Anthony Flood Yeah true I've just never driven mine. So I just want it driving then save up for upgrades! Plus I've just bought another R33

Regarding Oil Pan Extension, How much more oil do i need to add in the engine?
BM, did you do a baffle mod to the sump(like Tomei)? if you did, which did you use? Thanks.
Learning new things here, what does a baffle do differently than a normal oil sump?
One of the best ways to clean surfaces is to use coffee filters, they are relatively low lint and are dirt cheap.

how much did you pick the gtr up for and how much have you spent on it sorry to be a sticky beak just would like to know

intro song?
vanic x k.flay - make me fade
thanks!!!!!!
Umm, this doesn't look like a Volkswagen Beetle to me ? ? Still waiting mate.
Samantha Melanie Yeah it looks better then a beetle!!!! ;)
Backyard Mechanic hmm. No ✋🚗
Samantha Melanie I think you're all alone on that one. No one else will stand up for you saying a beetle is better then GODZILLA
Backyard Mechanic I've never heard of a Godzilla car. Mini Cooper is my second favourite car, maybe that one next time.
