Well done! I love watching people who can look inside a thing and see the possibilities, not just be stopped by what is just obvious and already there.
This has got to be my new favorite thing to watch. It really makes me want to go to the thrift store and find some clothes to alter. I think I'll try it over the summer.
You get the most dullest thing or something that no one would buy or wear in public and make it into something cute and make it seem like you bought it. Something that people would ACTUALLY buy. Your really good.
you are simply amazing! i love how you take old clothes and turn them into timeless pieces! it would be really interesting see how you combine two thrifted items in the next video or so. great work!
Some I wouldn't necessarily call "timeless" but I so agree with everything else girl! She is amazing!!! I would make some of my own clothing when I was in high school. So this channel speaks to the teenager that lives within. 💯✌👗😘💋💄♐♦
I've looked at some of your videos and I love the transformations, you are a very talented seamstress. However, as someone who loves vintage clothes from the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s I think certain pieces are really worth keeping in their original form. There is definitely a market for original vintage and its are getting more and more rare to find in good condition. This dress is probably from the 50s based on the style, shape and metal zipper.
I do love her videos AND especially the high quality of her sewing - and this was the first video I watched where I thought the original dress was much nicer than her resulting dress. It's her dress, of course, but I would have just re-sized the dress to myself, changing as little as possible.
I love vintage stuff too, but just because it is old or from the earlier decade doesn't mean it have values. If the piece is trashy is goanna stay trash through out the time. And from the quality of this dresses petticoat, I doubt is a really value piece.
The "Thrifted Transformations" series is really, really great. I really appreciate how simple you make it look and as someone who loves thrifting myself, I appreciate all the advice you give on snatching a good find. Please keep making these videos!
Every vintage clothing collector screamed on the inside when you started ripping the dress apart 😂... I kinda hyperventilated myself a bit. Love your series! Binge watching! ❤️
Lol. Yeah it kinda hurt my heart to see that dress get cut up. But at least it's being worn by someone now I guess. She's really talented so it could have been A LOT worse.
I love thrift shopping because you honestly never know what you're going to get and these videos just make me want to go thrift shopping more omg these are perfect
i bloody love these thrifted transformation haha. so good! you should make a plaster cast of you upper body to use as a model. then you won't need someone to help you! :)
This is awesome. I'm just starting to learn to sew, I want to learn to quilt too but this is something I'm interested in learning as well... clothing alteration. You did a great job, I think it's important that young people continue to learn and pass on hand making things... I can already crochet, working on sewing, and also looking into a class for knitting as well.
April I know this is an old video of yours but I love seeing the prom and formal dresses transformed. It would be fun if you did a few every year in the spring as inspiration for prosm, weddings, and other formal events. I love thrifting and the old dresses like this always make me sad to see, I love seeing somthing older and so unique transformed in to something so fashionable and wearable! Love the prom type dresses, even though I'm in my twenties haha.
I love your channel and creativity. I look at thrifted finds as a game now. What can I turn this into. So wish I lived by you bc I would love for you to tutor me
The original dress looked like Ogre Fiona's dress from the movie Shrek. BTW, She does wash her thrifted treasures before transforming them because in one of her videos she mentioned that the black cardigan she purchased had a hole in one arm and it got bigger after she washed it so she made herself a new crop.
I remember viewing your videos a couple years back and thought how unorganized your tutorials were. Sad to say, I just couldn't follow up when you made that sweetheart dress! BUT I will admit, your videos have gotten a lot more organized and you seem like you've been doing RUclips videos for at least 5 years. I hope you don't take this comment offensively, I promise you it's just a bit of encouragement to tell you to keep on making videos! And I'm glad to have come back to your channel ^-^
I just started to sew and im basically teaching myself.... I'm making a skirt that gathers like the one in this video ya know..before you connected it to make the final dress.. anyway...I can't seem to get the elastic around the waistline right. I know I need to stretch it as I sew but know matter what I do it just doesnt come out right. Think it would be ok to just add a zipper or is that even more difficult... I don't know. Any advise with the elastic or should I use zipper...
It's great. I *am* sighing a lil that that beautiful petticoat isn't peaking out more, or even made as the top layer. But then, I LOVE GREEN, LOVE PETTICOATS, and am kind of crazy. ;) Seriously though, that is one lovely petti. It would match my wedding dress EXACTLY. ....sigh... hehe, great job again April.
I typically love watching you take thrifted pieces and remaking them. This one however, made me sad as it appeared to be a true vintage piece. Vintage collectors would have loved to own this.
I really like watching your tutorial, I know for me I like sewing but not very advanced in do it and I enjoyed your detailed process, you make a person like me want to sew
coolirpa eek.. thank you ..I'm from the Philippines and I don't think we have Joanns or walmart here :) but thank you.. I'll check it out on that site ^_^ You're awesome :)
Twinkle Tito yeah definitely check the site out :D here is the direct link to the rotary cutters incase you cant find it www.sewingmachinesplus.com/rotary-cutters.php also, with the rotary cutter, you will need a rotary cutting mat like the green one i use :)
I salute you cause I know alterations and re-designing is a lot of work, plus filming, editing and explaining for your videos. Respect.
Well done! I love watching people who can look inside a thing and see the possibilities, not just be stopped by what is just obvious and already there.
Thumbs up if you got my "Pretty In Pink" reference xD
coolirpa WOW you are so talented!
👍👍👍
love it but the dress needs a good ironing or steaming to get rid of those wrinkles
This has got to be my new favorite thing to watch. It really makes me want to go to the thrift store and find some clothes to alter. I think I'll try it over the summer.
wooooot i like to hear that :)

I agree, that was really sad to watch, she obviously has no idea what she's cutting up. Such a shame :(

Lol. Yeah it kinda hurt my heart to see that dress get cut up. But at least it's being worn by someone now I guess. She's really talented so it could have been A LOT worse.
Yeah - but she does it so well!
This DIY is seriously ah-maze!! Pretty in turquiose
This dress is so 80s, before and after! Love that it kept that fun vibe!
Your my motivation to transform clothes and to look at outdated clothes in a different eye. Thank you, because what you do is inspirational.
aww you're welcome :) happy you found some inspiration from my videos
I think it would be really cool if at the end of the video u would say how much u spent on all of the material and the price of a similar store piece
I feel like you make a new outfit everytime you go out... like just before you go to school or to work. :)
lolol too funny :P
WOW!! You're so good at this! You're such an inspiration ^_^
Thank you :)
I love your channel Diylover
The final design is so cute!

It's easy to learn girl!! XOXO 😘💋💄♦
Me too!!! She makes it seem easy but i get so lost with every part of the dress.
Then the final result is so pretty and cute!!!
forget ironing steam the dress to release the wrinkles and the shape of the bow could be defined better but great project the dress looks amazing
You're AMAZING
I love thrift shopping because you honestly never know what you're going to get and these videos just make me want to go thrift shopping more omg these are perfect

April I know this is an old video of yours but I love seeing the prom and formal dresses transformed. all of these are amazing! You're quite the seamstress!
Would have looked soooo much better ironed! But what a fabulous sewer she is! Thanks for sharing x
Great refashion! Seems like it needs some bust darts though, you could easily hide them under the bow detail.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE these episodes!

You are seriously talented, holy wow! And PATIENT. All that time sewing and stitching and measuring!

I love when you point to where you are going to sew and then have that dotted line appear after
You have so much talent !
The finished dress is so beautiful!
The original dress looked like Ogre Fiona's dress from the movie Shrek. BTW, She does wash her thrifted treasures before transforming them because in one of her videos she mentioned that the black cardigan she purchased had a hole in one arm and it got bigger after she washed it so she made herself a new crop.
how come everyone always find awesome things in thrift stores? I never find anything -_- but seriously though your uncycling is amazing!!!
thank you! and thrifting is easy once you stop searching for something cute or trendy but instead focus on the material or the print :)

Amazing video! I loved the final result.
Could you make a video about when and where to use the different stitches?
I typically love watching you take thrifted pieces and remaking them. This one however, made me sad as it appeared to be a true vintage piece. Vintage collectors would have loved to own this.
I really like watching your tutorial, I know for me I like sewing but not very advanced in do it and I enjoyed your detailed process, you make a person like me want to sew
