These were awesome when I was kid, only went on them about 3 times as they were pretty expensive :)

toot-toot-toot - I am going astern (at a great rate of knots most vessels can't achieve going forrard). Good stuff thanks for sharing.

Even at low revs those MTU diesels sound good !

You're not alone in thinking this. The 12-cylinder supercharged MTU 493s sounded amazing!

I saw sister RHS 140 craft Condor 4 several times in the mid to late 80s whilst on annual holiday in Guernsey, great memories.
Then in late 1990 I was fortunate enough to travel on RHS 160 craft Condor 5 on a very lively crossing from Weymouth to Jersey....looking back, I'm amazed they let her out over the English Channel that day!
The throbbing sound and vibrations from her twin 1950bhp 12V652 engines remain with me even now !!
If, back then, 16 year old me had been armed with today's recording technology, my RUclips posts of that voyage would have been epic !!

Andy Preston only 3 x RHS160s remain in existence today. Just 3 x RHS140s too. I don’t whether you know it or not, but I own Curl Curl now

Hey, skipper! It's 5 mph in the harbor, better shut 'er down...

Most of them spent more time down at Balmain getting repaired than in service...

Only partly true. Let's not forget the striking dockers that also prevented them from service

Curl Curl is the last survivor, she is to be restored and will return to the harbor.

Fantastic machines. They were noisy and rode like absolute crap in choppy waters.....
But that was the most enjoyable thing!

@@andypreston1524 it seems like they were finished not long before the tunnel was opened of all times.
