First time ever watching this game. Serbians have really up their playing ability over the years, but this American team was STACKED with talent. Commenting at 22 minute mark. And not only was the team stacked with talent, but just look at the coaches on the bench and their coaching pedigree, only the best of the best.

I've been watching those FIBA suggestion games with Team USA the games they lose (Greece game, Yugoslavia...) and the difference here is two things: defense (they actually played to their potential defensively) and the rise of the 3pt shot in the NBA translating into the int'l game.
When team usa lost they took that to there heart that's why they wanted to dominate and they lost again all the nba player for usa want to play in the Olympics again I see them dominating again.
Kyrie and James are teammates now after all those years. You could see how well they work together in this game and on this team. They were both starters svd James was the closest to an mvp besides Kyrie. People saying they won't work I don't think they realize that they have thrived together before, though under different circumstances

True the Serbia team is dominated by the other side in this game and them not being able to handle the physicality led to poor finishes, but it's easy to see that they performed some pretty good tactics throughout the game to create space for each other.

Kada smo bili na 8 razlike već se videla nervoza kod njih. A i Dordjevic je bio kriv što ne traži tajmaut a imali su seriju od 17 poena. Msm svakako Amerikanci imaju individualno bolje igrače, ali čim smo poceli da jurimo za njima izgubili smo meč.

the big difference in paint defense is leaping ability and foot speed. being big and tall is useless if you are slow and your vertical leap is 1/3 feet lol
The only way these teams have a chance against the USA is with a lot of help from the refs, Serbia started too well, so the refs weren't calling all the ridiculous fouls and whatnot that they normally call against the USA, so there wasn't enough foul trouble on the USA side and they got momentum. That's why floppy teams like Spain tend to do better against the USA.

As long as they kept playing 'their' style of basketball, they were in the game. But they first lost their confidence when - a lot of 'easy' layups missed and - the US started to fire (and hit!) a lot of wild 3pts (none of them created by some play). I still think they could have kept the game closer if they wouldn't have tried to copy US basketball (going for 1on1 situations and no off ball movement) but stick to the team basketball that worked for the first minutes. You can't win by imitating the style of your opponent - he chose it because he is better at it than you. ;-)

Serbia wasn't competitive in this game, not even close, they were 40 points down. Only team ever that was close in final was Spain 2012. It was beautifull competitive game, USA was best possible (Kobe, Le Bron, Durant, Harden, Melo, Davis, Westbrook...)

And...going back to my comments on how Teodosic was a great player...should have said offensive player unless well guarded and the ball taken out of his hands. Also, he could not guard his shadow. Bogdanovic was this teams true all around star.

Serbia wasn't competitive in this game, not even close, they were 40 points down. Only team ever that was close in final was Spain 2012. It was beautifull competitive game, USA was best possible (Kobe, Le Bron, Durant, Harden, Melo, Davis, Westbrook...)
