- Covering the most ground today on the Mother Road, this is our longest travel day leaving St. Louis, MO en route to Chandler, Oklahoma.
Missouri is a beautiful state to traverse full of green rocky forested terrain, there's so much to do and see here along Route 66. In a future trip I will plan to spend several days getting the full experience (maybe the 100 year anniversary of Route 66 in 2026). Given we were more limited in time this first trek along the Mainstreet of America, we did pack in an array of classic roadside attractions: vintage motels, retro signage, historic eateries, majestic bridges...and a trip to Uranus.
I also wanted to highlight a couple historic places that may not necessarily be associated with Route 66 but certainly nearby and worth a stop, these include ragtime pianist Scott Joplin's home in St. Louis and paying respects at the Joplin Tornado Memorial in Joplin, Missouri.
From there my brother and I entered Kansas where Route 66 cuts through the Southeast corner of the state (a half marathon to be exact). Galena and Baxter Springs are well worth the trip, beautiful midwest towns that embrace the Pixar Cars movie.
From there we continued into Oklahoma as the sun set, driving through the night to our final destination at the historic Lincoln Motel in Chandler, Oklahoma. An epic day along the Mother Road and a journey that I will cherish always.

Credit to you guys for these awesome videos .I'm from England but my gorgeous partner is from Texas. One day we hope to do this road trip. She whetted my appetite when she visited her friend in Tulsa and I stumbled across your brilliant videos. Best wishes Robin 🇺🇸👍
Wonderful 😍 thank you so much for sharing your amazing video
You gave great views of Uranus 😂
Outstanding! You gentlemen need to start a Video tour business.
When you came out with the butt pirate comment after all the Uranus cracks, I lost it.
Bravo.
Cracks, I see what you did there!
Great job! Particularly liked Cunningham Memorial Park in Joplin. Wonderful dialogue. Thank you!
Very Cool, I remember some of these locations when I did parts of this section of route 66 a few years ago.
I used to live in NC, and Cheerwine is awesome. I don't mind the cough syrup-adjacent flavor. Diet Cheerwine, however, is a taste of hell. Sun Drop is also a really solid soda, both regular and diet.
Haha if I find Diet Cheerwine I will film a taste test.
There is a Uranus, Indiana that also touts a fudge factory. The town news paper is called the Uranus Explorer. LMAO
I've been to Gary.
the Uranus Fudge Factory had a paper called the Uranus Examiner but got shut down by people who live there lol
My 2-year-old saw the thumbnail and shouted "Mater!", demanding we watch it. He was a little disappointed to say the least that it was not just Mater for the full 51 minutes, haha.
Love the guitar intro, did you record it?
Haha real life Mater in Galena, KS, I would be surprised to see a 2 yr old sit through anything for 51 mins. Thanks, wrote and recorded at home on my Stratocaster guitar.
