women talking was so fascinating!! the movie is really excellent too. it’s the only miriam toews i’ve read so i’ll have the try the other you mentioned!!
ugh i loved fight night so much & def different from women talking but just love her writing! & i really enjoyed the movie too! there were some changes in the movie i felt eh about but overall, i thought it was so similar to the book in what happens/vibe!

Loved Ripe so, so much! I went back to the library to borrow The Book of X immediately afterwards, and I loved that one even more somehow. Definitely a new favorite author!

ripe also made it to my favorites of 2023 list!!! so incredibly bleak and depressive, idk how i had a good time reading it but i did 😅 so relatable as well and it voiced a lot of my own fatigue with capitalism and my job + i have to get into fever dream! i’ve had it on my tbr for a while and seeing on your faves made me want to pick it rn!! i can also vouch for how good schweblin’s other work is, i personally really enjoyed mouthful of birds

Your description about sigrid nunez writing style totally reminds me of Yaa Gyasi in transcendent kingdom. She also was able to put so many themes and topics into her story without it ever losing its main core. because of your description i want to read the friend by nunez, maybe you want to give yaa gyasi a try i am still thinking about transcendent kingdom edit: i did not see that you have yaa gyasi on your list too hahah. I want to read homegoing too this year, hope you will enjoy transcendent kingdom as much as i did
