These are my top 5 but I'd love to hear yours, let me know below! Honorary mentions for RTR Imperium Surrectum, I think there will be some great things happening this year for that one, plus Anno Domini 1051 AD & I've yet to try this one, but I've been very VERY interested in what Steam & Steel for Medieval 2!
Medieval 1212AD is literally unplayable, and the devs haven't cared to fix the issue at all. It's a simple bug fix, and because of that, very few if any people have been able to play since Oct/November.
@@SeaLion8488 No it's a must try. It's just unplayable right now ;-; It really depends what you mean by playable. If you play on very hard difficulty, you'll shift between 3 mid-sized armies defending your borders and them getting sick so they're all half-dead 80% of the time while 2 provinces are on the verge of rebellion, so you rotate your armies to the cities to increase PO.
Honestly don't get why CA does not simply invests a bit in modders (say, make 3 people responsible for helping specific mods with potential). It would greatly boost sales of even older games and does not require (a lot) of their own developing capabilities and even responsibilities.
sadly it doesn't make sense for the financial dep of the company since its just an idea where they can't calculate the reward of it, but the risk man oh man they always calculate it and they see the older games as rivals to the new ones. they don't want you to boot medieval 2 again to play a bronze age mod when they can sell you another game and producing another game means the shareholders are happy since the company is producing "something", basically there's a reason why 99.9% of gaming companies are detached from the modding community because they have a financial dep who only believe in numbers.
I'm not so sure about it greatly boosting the sales of older games. I think all those games have their audience. Mods are not going to be attracting enough new people to old games for it to be worth to pay any number of people full time. Those games are cheap. Would be cool to see that kind of direct support but there is a reason no one does that. It doesn't make a ton of sense financially from what I can tell.
Or even ezer, they should give us some kind of the ability to access old games files ezer with an price of 10-20€. Means, modders wouldn't have that much of problem creating their fantasies/ book fantasies into the game! Cuz even thought I'm not a modder I heard about alot of total war games that are pain in the ass to mod so it would be a win win situation in this "crisis" (they called it crisis at least)
if these modders from what ive seen so far should make thier own total war style game we need players to do that to show ca what they are missing out off
This has, though not for TW, been done before by modders, and not to a high volume of success. Good thought, but it is easier to mod a game than it is to built one from the ground up, even if you are duplicating an existing game to modify to your desired specifications. You might be thinking that it should be rather simple, having a fairly objective idea of what the game needs to do, support, how it functions, etc. But in reality, it is only a fraction of the effort going into the project. One you start to change things, update the engine, etc, you are going to be thrown to the wind and you won't have the OG game as a guide anymore to keep things straight. Not to mention the nuances to testing, altering, and pushing new features. The same thing can be done with an easier workflow via modding. And that is not to say that modding is easy, it is just easier than making a whole new game from scratch.
Only a few things i'll be waiting for in 2024: Completion of the Dawnless days mod & the announcements of Empire 2 and/or Napoleon 2 on global maps and Medieval 3.
Great top, but personally I would add the 1100AD mod for Rome 2, because if the tool that you said that could help expand the playable map get to that game it could increase the possibilities for gameplay and storyline. Invasion from nomadic tribes from Africa, Central Asia; Nordic kingdoms invading in Viking style; reconquest of Byzantium land, ext.. and I consider that is a mod that is overshadow for the 1212 mod for the years Thanh as, but 1100 is more early medieval
I would add medieval 2 total war steam and Steel to this list. It still has some crash and bug fixes but with the latest update it’s an awesome late 19th century mod with the entire world and some cool factions. I’ve had fun with a few campaigns so fair (when it doesn’t crash). I think it still has a lot of potential though.
Yeah I've been checking it out as well, it's excellent. Made an honorary mention in the pinned comment, but I'll be giving it it's own video very soon :)
My top mod of the year so far is Insularis Draco for Medieval II! It’s so lovingly made and has so much excellent detail and fun, it’s the most fun I’ve had in total war in years!
Oh hell yeah man Insularis Draco is so good. Every time I play it, I keep going 1 more turn and the mod keeps slapping me with historical knowledge and an uber challenging AI. Definitely in my top 10 mods of all time
A good honorable mention should go to the Crusader Wars mod that allows CK3 battles to be fought in Total War Attila, it combines what I would consider the best aspects of boths games and with the updates scheduled for the next few months including more fleshed out systems and the addition of siege battles, I think this will be a major mod for both communities.
What they are managing to do, after so many years, with Shogun 2, is impressive; Maybe we will finally have, with all that progress, the Empire 2, the Victoria or the Pike & Shot Total War that we have always wanted, especially with those mechanics that have fascinated us so much since 2011 and that Creative Assambly failed to give us. Hopefully this year they can unlock the edition of Japanese castles, so that we can achieve the result we want with each MOD.
Same! Honestly if more modders pick up the tool and run with it we could see some insane mods come out in the next few years. Though to your second point I don't think the 256 limit will ever be broken unfortunately :(
@@TheTerminatorGaming A new engine might give way to break that 256 limit. I am willing to wager that Unreal Engine, which is not dedicated to this style of game, could break that limit and not sweat. For modding, probably stuck at 256, but CA could 100% break that barrier with an updated engine/new engine.
Must suck at beeing CA atm, cause their costumers are producing stuff people wanna play for free while CA cant sell shit with their own projects nobody wants. The community has reached a level of professionality that CA can only get people to buy their stuff again if they improve on the fundamentals, the engine.

Why can’t dawnless days be downloaded through steam?
I need a total war mod that allows far east asian factions to colonize the americas, WITHOUT having to first fighting through europe.
There is one old whole world mod but the map does not allow asia to be close to americas.
I can't seem to get my 1212 Ad mod to work, it keeps saying the order is wrong, any help?
I don't know why CA doesn't just make a Lotr official game
MK1212 is the only one I like on this list but I still prefer Vanilla. Maybe if they finally do complete siege maps I'll give it another shot, they should also do more custom UI and such like Medievqal Warfare right now it feels like Attila more than a "successor to medieval 2".
Why do the Gauls and the british appear half naked??? , they had loads and loads of furs and leather
Are there any new mods in development for RTW remastered?
There are a few, and I'll be making a big video to cover it all soon :)
These are mods for Rome Total war 2 ?
