Great find! The name Steury has the emphasis on the ury. Think of “Fury”. The common competitor to this boat was a boat company called MFG which stood for molded fiberglass company. They built boats on the same design as the one you just acquired. The seats that are in the boat are called the “Fun in Sun Seats”. When you lay them out as you demonstrated you or your girlfriend can “sunbathe” and get a nice tan! Cable steering was the only way to remote steer an outboard with a steering wheel back in the 60’s until hydraulic steering became popular in the late 70’s. Watching this video brought back a lot of memories from my teenage years using boats like this to waterski with my friends and family in Barnegat Bay, NJ.😊😊
I did a 1963 Glass Magic with a Starflit Evinrude just like that one back in 2001. They are easy to work on if you have any knowledge at all about motors, I figured alot out and I knew knothing when I started. The steering can be converted over to a more traditional steering those pully systems are not the safest. the transom looks like the most dificult part of the restore...cool boat I love it
What a beautiful classic boat! She definitely deserved to be restored as she was back in the 1960's. Imagine... you will feel like driving an old Cadillac on the Route 66. For the engine, you could contact Brandon, from the channel "Brandon's Garage". He is very good - an expert - in making old engines like this work as if they were brand new!
My uncle's got a 1970s boat and that's how it was done. Pretty sure they started in the 80s with the stainless steel link and rod combo. Awesome piece of history right there ! Hopefully you give it the justice it deserves
The cable steering is the most dangerous thing on the boat. The transom, I would do a rubber filled transom. It works well for the older boats. Good luck. By the way, that engine has pointes under the flywheel. Also ck ( I would replace) the flywheel key. Bad about breaking.
OMG, that engine is an electric shift, it takes a special lower unit grease. Regular LU grease will cause a zero shift and would need complete overhaul !
I have officially lost all hope of ever getting to park in the garage 😂
Awesome dude. Glad it worked out and you got a trailer. Can't wait to see this project come to fruition

Man this is a cool project it does look original you have to get that motor running. As far as a name gotta go old school PEARL
Yea that steering is original. It's cable driven steering. No hydraulics at all. And that boat is awesome and can't wait for the upcoming videos on it
I grew up with these boats. These boats turn and make you feel like the boat can roll over.
That is very cool. Very common type of boat in the early 60s. Check the transom. It might be quite softfrom rot.

Old timer! Good name for it!!😊
The steering with pulleys and cables is original. If the motor doesn't need a ton, it's well worth rebuilding the carbs if that's what it takes.
Cables are what they used to use in all the older boats. Under the bow you'll find a pulley at the bottom of the steering shaft

Dude. That might be the deal of the decade!
Thats sick!! Awsome boat
Those other boats are 'extreme' alloy boats built in newzealand
If you get it running an overnight trip would be great.
That's the way they did it back in the day with the steering
You should get Andy from the Team Marine RUclips Channel to partner with you on this.
That steering is probably original. Plastic coated steel cable. A drum on the back of the steering wheel that pulls the cable.
@@richreid7098 wild!
Call IT ole Buckeye
Steering cables are original thats the way they did back in the day
Reminds me of your grandpa's old boat.
