For those who have both a triathlon bike and a road bike, which do you find yourself using more often and why?

I raced on a road bike with clip-on bars for my first two years, was a great way to gradually graduate to a tri bike. Slightly slower, but critical time to grow the right flexibility to actually take advantage of the new fit.

Good thinking. That sounds like the right way to go at first. And also gives you to time to develop bike skills.

Unlike a dog, a bike fit isn't for life. Get one done every season or two as your body and goals change.
