- This one was pretty damn fun to cover! There really isn't enough VERA music, it's actually a really fun chip to work with (imo).
I've been getting into the X16 scene quite a bit recently, and have even already done two soundtracks for The 8-Bit Guy already! (You'll see the uploads for those shortly.)
Made with Furnace, the newest multi-system chiptune tracker: github.com/til...
Visuals made with Corrscope: github.com/cor...
Support the Commander X16: commanderx16.com (This isn't sponsored, I think the project is very cool and I wish more people knew about it.)
That was gorgeous! My first time hearing the VERA and I am super impressed :)
famous last words from me:
"eh, it's probably gonna sound pretty similar"
lemme make a mental note to never underestimate you
VERA has insane potential goddamn
triangular arpeggios for some reason refer to "the street loader" from "the last ninja 2"😅😁
This is the best one i've heard yet!
This video slapped me in the face with a banger.
And so it begins
Oh man... this is beautiful!!
Nice VERA cover of the song, and it sounds super close and faithful and even way better than the original song!😄🤩😎👌
so good
dadada da da dat dada
This is pretty cool! I think it’s even better than the original!
this is epic as shit
I guess I should've expected something godly like this to come about, considering this chip alone has 16 PSG channels.
insanely powerful custom chip! for the era of hardware their trying to emulate at least
Where do I get the X16! I want to do this too!! This is amazing!!!
The X16 is not available yet, and won't be for a little while. You can emulate it by googling for the official emulator, and can make music for it by downloading Furnace Tracker
@@nicco1690 That’s epic.
This is a great cover! Will you add the Furnace file to your Github?
i'm trying to get into chiptune stuff - how do make a decent instrument sound on the vera? i've been trying but the all sound bad
I'd recommend studying earlier C64 soundtracks (Matt Gray, Rob Hubbard, etc) to see how they do instruments
@@nicco1690 but that's the sid, not the vera
and where do you get the files to look at anyway?
@@saltedmutton7269 Early SID soundtracks almost never use filters, and since the VERA is very very close to the SID except that it doesn't have a filter, you can easily recreate most C64 instruments on the VERA.
You can get almost every SID song in the HVSC, and just google for JSIDPlay2 to get a SID player
@@nicco1690 im using furnace, how do you get beyond basic waveforms? or is it all in sequencing
@@saltedmutton7269 It's all sequencing and arpeggio macros (and duty macros)
8 bit guy just posted a video about his Xixit port. You are apparently responsible for the music conversion. Great job, your conversion sounds better than the original. I downloaded the game and tried it out in the emulator and my take away was that I wanted access to the music. Will you post them here on your channel?
The 8-Bit Guy gave the green-light to do it so I'll post it soon-ish I guess
@@nicco1690 That sounds great thank you.☺
more than 15 channels?
13 channels in stereo
@@nicco1690 oh i see nevermind
Sounds like an arcade in stand-by mode, rather than a home PC in game-play mode. Could be a little slower in tempo.
The X16 is actually pretty similar to various arcade boards of the 90s, especially because of the included Yamaha YM2151 chip. However, this song only uses the VERA chip, a 16-channel (only 13 are used) hard-panned stereo PSG.
