    I think kaddish was also designed to get an outsider involved in a community. When a parent dies you want to do something for them and you're told you should say kaddish at shul. Since Kaddish comes at the very beginning and end of services it kind of makes sure you show up and stay there. And if you're there day after day someone is bound to talk to you and you may or may not get involved. I think it was purposely made like that.
