    I am a Stage III cancer survivor. As a result of the chemo, my kidneys are now at Stage III Renal Failure. I am trying to do everything I can to maintain their function (including a vegan diet!) Fluoride is apparently one of the things that kidneys struggle to filter. I am *hoping* that the Berkey Fluoride filter will help, too!

    I use both filters because I wouldn't even trust my government to sit straight on a toilet seat much less provide the "clean water" we pay our taxes for.

    This is great, thanks! How do you figure out how much water you go through/when you need to change your filters? We have used our Berkey for years but I’ve never taken the time to really calculate it out (we just guess or wait until the water quality changes 🙃).

    Hi, I thank you for your helpful videos. I am using the fluoride filters for the first time. My question is, are we supposed to take the plastic sticker off of the filters- the plastic that says which way the water should flow before installing??

    Thank you for doing this tutorial...I am wondering...once you get these filters on, is there a limit as to how much water I am able to put in the berkey? it seems like they are gonna hang down and at least be partially submerged in the lower reservoir...is that right? and I am looking for the link on how to purge the PF2...and one more question...do you take the plastic cover off the filter?

    I have a brand new Berkey and just learning how to put it together. I bought it because I am learning to ferment foods (sauerkraut, pickles, etc.), and chlorine and fluoride retard fermentation. One reason I want to ferment my vegetables is that the excellent bacteria that do the fermenting also are good at removing toxins from food and from the body. I find that amazing. They taste delicious too.

      We use both filters since we got the Berkey. We originally used it in our house in Florida. While it was city water, we really liked the clean water. Once filtered you need to make sure you use the water within a couple of days since the chemicals have been removed.
      Do you use your Berkey in your residence or in an RV?

    QUESTION: I didn't read the directions first about only turning the white filter eight times. So I over- tightened them. Then I saw the directions and this video. (I did prime them appropriately). After seeing this, I took it back apart and re installed the white filters. But do you think I have damaged something critical? Is there a need to throw out the ones I over tightened and start over?
    Thank you. I have been helped by your videos. I had really struggled to prime the black filters until I saw your video that explained and demonstrated it.

      @nancyconkling2286 3 года назад +6

      @@OurNomadicStory thank you. I think Berkey must have changed the wrapping. My new flouride filters came in a hard shrink wrap which a technician from the company said to cut off. So, no words and no flow arrows just a plain white filter.

    Is it important to have the black arrow face up or down when you screw it on the black Berry? We followed instructions but the water did not flow into the lower chamber. Are we doing something wrong.?

    • @OurNomadicStory
      @OurNomadicStory  4 года назад

      The arrow should be facing down. The filter will be bigger on the portion that attaches to the Black Berkey filter.
      Did you prime the Black Berkey Filter and the PF-2 Fluoride Filter?
      The Priming of the Black Berkey filter is critical for water flow. The key benefits of priming the Fluoride Filter is to clean out the loose particle in the filter. It will help some with the flow.
      Were you able to get the water flow worked out? If yes, what did you do?

    What happens if you break the black mesh in the white filter?

    • @OurNomadicStory
      @OurNomadicStory  4 года назад +4

      This is a great question. I communicated the best practice based on the instructions provided by Berkey. Based on your question I had to do more research.
      Berkey Filters states the following related to over tightening the PF-2 Filter, "If the elements are screwed on too tight, the screen within the post filter can become damaged. This will not negatively affect the performance of the element. The only purpose for the screen is to keep the media within the element during shipment."
      Based on my understanding, there is no impact on performance of the filter if it is over tightened and the screen/mesh is impacted.

      @OurNomadicStory  4 года назад

      Sorry for the delay. Hurricane Sally hit us about two weeks ago and took me away from RUclips.
      The number of filters impact the flow of filter water. If the flow of one filter works for you, you can use one filter. You can plug the one filter openings and use one Black filter in the Travel Berkey. You can then add the white fluoride & arsenic filter.
      If the Travel Berkey does not include a plug you can use, you can order one.
      Let me know if you have any additional questions.

    My floride filters have plastic wrap around and on the white plastic wrap it says which was to install but I see that you didn't remove the plastic wrapping... did I supposed to leave that on? I just didn't feel comfortable plastic wrapping being in the drinking water... I tried Berkey blog but can't find any answers on this

      What to do with the plastic wrap is why I viewed this video. I saw that he didn't remove it. However, like you, I removed it because I don't want the filtered water to come into contact with the plastic. The instruction that came with the filters do no say to remove the plastic. But it only makes sense to remove it.

    I bought the fluoride filters because fluoride causes cancer. I’ve had cancer twice (a 13 hour surgery each time) and am taking as many precautions as possible, not to mention who wants arsenic? lol duh I use my Berkey daily, have been for 3 years. I even use it to water my indoor plants.

    • @OurNomadicStory
      @OurNomadicStory  3 года назад +1

      We also like using the Berkey to help keep us healthy. Base don your history, I can understand why you use the fluoride filters and a Berkey.
      We also use the filters all of the time when we are at our home base or when we travel on the road. The quality of the water on the road can be a big concern. While we have filters on the water to our fresh tank or RV plumbing, we want the extra filtering from the Berkey.
      We like the extra benefit of filtering items like arsenic out of the water we drink. We also use the Berkey for our dogs water.

    Yikes! #1. You never showed the BLACK Filters or what screws onto what. 😮😳🔎❓ I don’t think there’s enough room on the plastic screws that attach the black filters to the upper chamber, that will also accommodate screwing in the white filters in the upper bottom chamber? And you didn’t mention the strangeness of the White Fluoride filters constantly being in the water 💦 in the lower tank! It seems that’d be NOT HEALTHY? 😳 Thank you for your video but I didn’t get my questions answered. ✅🔍
