Bloodstone genuine is best with a lot of water. It's so beautiful when it's thinned out and able to granulate 😍 I use it quite often haha alone and in mixes.

I actually used it on its own to create some shadows and I loved the granulating effect! I think I just need to play around with it more and get to know it better ❤️

@@LaurenceP-art yes! It's perfect for shadows! I love using it for shadows, along with shadow violet. Two of my favorites for that 😊

Yes, definitely more beautiful with lots of water. I have Bloodstone in my everyday studio palette. It is so gorgeous with Buff Titanium and water. Makes incredible sand, rocks, etc.

I have both Zoisite and Bloodstone on my palette. I think of them as basically the same color Bloodstone the warm Zoisite the cool. I don't use these think at mass tone almost every. They both granulate lovely washed out a bit more. I will use them both to granulate non granulating things in my foreground. I don't think I have ever used both in the same piece. I just go to bloodstone for a warm granulation... and zoiste for a cool. If I want a warm red/orangey color to neutralize a bit and granulate I'll use zoiste. When I want a green to neutralize and granulate like in the shadow in some foreground brush in a landscape I'll go for the bloodstone. For a long time I would add a little bit of Alizarin into my shadows to add a bit of warmth I find myself using bloodstone for that now.

I had never thought about them that way, this is super interesting! I definitely need to have a closer look at both of these colors and play around with them. I’d love to find a way to use them a bit more 🤩
