I love that smashcut to "Pretty Vacant." And then, the slow camera pan to the left...the classic Greco-Roman statue and trappings slowly revealing John sitting down in the distance. What a great juxtaposition, the "high brow", "high culture" elements of the classics against the blue-collar punkness of John. All with the menacing mayhem of the Pistols playing in the background. When you take a second to think about it, you realize the amount of brilliance that went into making that shot. The cinematographer of this production is an unspoken genius.

This is a great doc on Punk in general. PBS always seems to be fair in accounting how past eras were with facts and opinions that were not bias and didn't edit it/them with a spin. I'm a forever loyal Ramones guy and I would also recommend: "Ramones - Video Biography" here on RUclips. Really worth watching.

Steve Jones, is a horribly underated guitar player.

I remember there was a rumor, that Steve did not play on the records, that it was actually, Chris Spedding, but both Lydon and Mclaren, said, it was all Jonesey!

@@soulCracka1 I do too! it's all his own, not a trace of the boring blues clichés, that seems to be some kind of rule.

I always thought it was rather Gallant, of Steve Jones to give Grundy hell for his sleazy, dirty old man attempts to put the moves on the very young Sioux.

In the clip itself Lydon comes over a bit sheepish and reticent at first (a good Catholic boy!) and offered that he'd said only 'a rude word' cause he didn't really want to repeat the profanity he'd uttered. Jones was more brass-necked; had less to lose (I think he was basically a feral youth) and really went for it. Then Lydon starts smirking. It always makes me smile. I can't help it though, I still feel a bit of sympathy for Grundy: it killed his career. Lecher though he probably was...

I never could believe that they printed black marks instead of the band name and song.

and meanwhile here in the states we had that talentless neanderthal Ted Nugent writing far more offensive songs with no problem getting airplay!

At 7:40 wen Malcolm comments bout the Pistols making history. We all no thats not wat happened.Malcolm shit his pants and he was pissed at the guys. They did catch alot of hell though. But I guess it was kinda like all publicity is good publicity. If anyone wants to see one of the best RnR documentarys ever watch "The Filth and The Fury" by Julian Temple.Excellent band footage great interviews.Between that doc and Ramones "End of the Century" 2 great Docs

Very cool moment with Johnny at 4:00 - I can see why the Pistols or John Lydon hated Malcolm, wat a creep, comes off very fake and un-trustworthy.

I remember reading an interview with Lydon, talking about Malcolm wanting desperately to get the pistols back together, and go to New York in order to "help Sid, who was in jail at the time for killing Nancy, John refused, stating Malcolm had no intention of helping Sid, he just wanted to turn it into an even bigger media circus." one of the things people seem to forget, is that Lydon and Sid were close friends, and the whole losing his childhood friend to heroin, was pretty difficult for the man, not to mention the residual guilt he feels, in getting Sid involved with McLaren and the pistoos...
