I really like you as a reviewer. You blend technical details and actual review well, and compared to a lot of other reviewers you seem to have a "genuineness" or "innocence" about you that's really refreshing compared to some of Top Gear's reviews, for example. Anyway, you seem to really enjoy what you do, and I wish you all the success in the future.
I truly love the way this was shot. The tack sharp B&W lends a feel of understated class and then the little splashes of color to draw the eye. Great review and presenter. Awesome job really giving us the history of the car instead of just taking around a track and beating the crap out of it! Two big thumbs up!!! Keep it up!!!
Despite not having dramatic colours, this review was engaging and informative enough to the point in which half way through, it struck me that I had been watching the whole thing in an epic B&W effect. Well done!
I like the cinematography of xcarfilms and the MP4-12C is beautiful. As a kid I thought the McLaren F1 was really cool so I can say I wanted one as a kid.
I love that they did the Colour Correction in B&W with selective colour! It is a perfect way to compliment McLaren's Heritage and the reason behind their iconic orange!!!
I wasn't a great fan of the looks initially but as time goes by I think that it has aged beautifully and is now one of my favourites. A hyoercar bargain at £115k used.
@XCARFilms Already liked subscribed and shared! It's so good to see proper videos with proper reviews on RUclips. (Gets boring seeing, "Exhaust note of new Ferrari. Or drag race of 2 cars from years ago we're sick of seeing!") Keep up the good work! Plus that review guy is doing a sterling job!
Nice video. Some great details included and decent photography. Would be great to see more about how the car performs, not just the back story :) Thanks for posting!
You're right, and I would personally take the G as well. All I was saying, is the makers of Ferrari and Lamborghini have definitely taken notice. Imagine that, a mature conversation/debate in the RUclips comments! :) Glad we had this convo.
Excelent review and great filming. The only thing I didn't like was the excessive use of the B&W. Just a couple of B&W shots would have been better, IMO. Anyway, first video I saw from XCAR but subscrided. Hope you keep up the good quality work.
There is actually no car that excites me quite as much as the MP4-12C Spyder right now. The Volcano red colour also has a special place in my heart. It will be my first real splurge when I become wealthy.
Great review. Xcar, you're doing fantastic work! My only critical thought is regarding the lack of heritage; I see where you're coming from, but regarding their road cars i'd argue that anyone who loved the F1 as a kid has, in fact, been lusting after McLaren since they were yea big (including myself). I sure hope you can get your hands on a P1 to review one day... 5 days until production begins! Heh heh heh.
Nice video, really nice car! Though on the topic of the video, my unprofessional opinion is that there is a bit too much editing. I would like a more watchable vid without angle changes and other fancy stuff every second. Other than that, keep up the great work!
awesome video and presenter, love the 12c. but if you want some constructive criticism i didn't like the black and white + splashes of color. i know color is more difficult to process and to work with but is much more pleasant on videos i think. subscribed though :)
your points are well taken however, your missing a key essential point that is the emotional connection to the other two cars. No one (at least that I know) will deny the MP4 is as good as you say it is and better than the other two but it does not get you 1/8 as exciting as the others. For that i'd take the G.
If your first try with your 'entry level' car in your line up can pretty much blow away anything else on planet earth on the track then you know McLaren have the right minds, the right brand, and are pointed in the right direction. Ferrari has been making cars for over 50 years and had has been refining their brand. If McLaren are making cars this good after only 2 years they're definitely on track. They are only going to get better as they tweak and refine their product. Love McLaren cars.
I enjoyed how you practically broke down to soul = tradition and heritage. If a brand has a certain heritage, then that is the soul of its current products. I agree with what you said about McLaren: they don't have as extensive of a heritage as the Italian brands, but that doesn't mean that McLaren is worse. I think McLaren is top notch; the best of the best. I find most Italian manufacturers overrated and in-love with their own heritage.
Top marks to McLaren for offering the upgrades free of charge to earlier model vehicles! I don't think you'd find any of McLarens competitors doing this.
You have some great reviews but you should really write" review" in your video titels. If you search for "McLaren MP4-12C review" I dint found you And channel deserves more subscribers
I grew up having the Mclaren f1 being my dream car. This car crushed the name for me. It stands for everything that I dislike in modern super cars. Manufacturers stopped the ideology of trying to put the fastest engine, a chassis, and you together as if you were one. I feel as though they stopped producing for the enthusiasts, and started doing it for the high ranking executives in a business. The Mclaren seems nothing more then technology. No skill, no challenge. The Noble M600, is the opposite
Right.... I love all those beautiful Japanese hyper cars... oh wait... And this is coming from someone who loves the NSX, but Japan hasn't been in the game since that car first came out. GT-R is a numbers car, not even comparable to the NSX and the leaps forward it made for the supercar world.
Why would you say that? This is faster than a Gallardo and a 458 Italia, provides a better ride quality than both, and goes around corners faster as well. Don't get me wrong I love all 3, I'm just saying.
Its not the heritage that give the other manufacturers "soul". It is that the 12c feels almost digital. As if they let the engineers from Forza and Polyphony tell them what the car should feel like. This is not to say the 12c isn't a breathtaking accomplishment, but if I put you into my nearly 20 yr old 355, you'd understand that you really prefer analog
Your last sentence is all the proof I needed that you were a GT-R fanboy. Go look at some numbers on the internet and be happy, I'd rather actually get a special feeling from driving the car.
Here in oz you can get a brand new 12C for $200,000 less then the 458 and the 12C is better in every way so yes Italy should be worried because Mclaren actually care about their customers GOOD DAY.... : )
Dang, didn't even notice that till you said something, had to replay it. And my eye doctor says I'm not color blind. Perhaps he should have said I have an over active imagination.
(no response to my quip about subjective, but that's alright and also the the cars I own) Would you care to tell of the first every day super car the porsche made? I'd love to hear ALL about it. Because the carrera isn't a supercar, and even the turbo's were not really competitors to the ferraris and lambos of the day. What was the first DD supercar then? Because I will maintain it was the NSX, and it's spiritual successor is the R8.
I don't think Italy should be scared of this. The McLaren is a good car but it just isn't as exciting as the Ferrari 458 in my opinion. Having driven both cars the Ferrari makes you excited and sings you. I know on the track the McLaren is the faster and better car but in every intangible way the Ferrari makes you feel amazing. Nonetheless, they are both great cars but I guess the final opinion goes to the person who is sat behind the wheel of each.
What exactly did the NSX do? First all aluminum body? Mid engine VTEC, big deal. The old Porsche 911's were wiping the floor with those back in the day. The GTR set a whole fucking standard for the performance car world. It has put nearly every single fucking car company on notice.
Italy afraid of this? Naw. This is a car for people who value engineering and precision over panache and presence. It may very well be a bit faster than a 458 but it lacks the looks.
My first sentence was worded horribly? ummm ok...Also I find it hilarious you think the NSX was the first usable super car. Does Porsche ring a bell? Yes the NSX were more reliable and usable than the Ferraris of the time, but no, it was not the first DD supercar, if you could even call it that.
So I win €25m on the lottery and immediately go off and buy a ferrari 458 and a Porsche Cayenne Turbo. All well and good except I am a Brit so I take them back and swap for a McLaren and RR Sport. there, that's better...
A couple of shots in B&W it's good, but this one... It just seems you run out of color... I think this one doesn't have the XCAR standard... Was hoping for a bit more with this car...
Great car...Nice video... Only thing is that why can't you give us this video in color? I mean,, its a McLaren, guys... And that volcanic orange current has some heritage in the history of cars... It should not be made in b/w... Damn...Dats an insult... Other than that,, good video... Nice points out there.. 3 McLaren
too much greyscale, otherwise good vid
I really like you as a reviewer. too bad they replaced the 12 c with the 650s. the 12c was a very good looking car.
650s is much better though...
Where the colors? x_x
On his face and Brake Calipers
Ahh, the MP4-12C. The everyday super car. I love it. Good work Mclaren. Italy should really be scared.
Why? I'm Italian and I'm not scared lol
I think hes talking about ferrari and lamborghini
The music to engine noise ratio in this video is much better than some of your previous videos. thanks.
Well done!
That B&W McLaren logo surrounded by water is some of the best video I have ever seen.Well done XCAR.

Nice video. Some great details included and decent photography. Would be great to see more about how the car performs, not just the back story :) Thanks for posting!
Loved the editing! The dropping of most if the color made it look epic!
These videos are excellent. You get a nugget of history as well as a review of an excellent car.
One of the best MP4-12C video's I've seen!
You're right, and I would personally take the G as well. All I was saying, is the makers of Ferrari and Lamborghini have definitely taken notice.
Imagine that, a mature conversation/debate in the RUclips comments! :)
Glad we had this convo.
Drove one today for race day, beautiful with buckets of power! would have been nice to give her a name rather than a product code!
Love the Black and White treatment. As always love your writing and delivery.
Love Xcars videos and the editing is top notch
Yet another great review... and beautifully shot!
Amazing video yet again. Loved the editing and the review. Keep Up the good work!
Old car but an awesome car review to watch even in 2015
this is one of the most beautiful supercars i have seen yet. and i love those intakes
Just subscribed and loving some of these videos! Keep up the good work!
Really love the music you use in your videos. Where can I find song info?
Excelent review and great filming. The only thing I didn't like was the excessive use of the B&W. Just a couple of B&W shots would have been better, IMO.
Anyway, first video I saw from XCAR but subscrided. Hope you keep up the good quality work.
Why does everyone forget to add that you can shift down with the up paddle and you can shift up with the down paddle by pushing rather than pulling?
There is actually no car that excites me quite as much as the MP4-12C Spyder right now. The Volcano red colour also has a special place in my heart. It will be my first real splurge when I become wealthy.
The color editing is very nice, even on 1080 though for some reason youtube is showing a very low quality picture. Very blocky. Nice video.
Great review. Xcar, you're doing fantastic work!

What a lucky fookin' bugger you are! Very nice report, right up there with Chris Harris' run. This is my personal favorite.
Beautifully shot.. great review
Brilliant vid.I am always happy to see a new vid in my sub box from you guys because you never disappoint me.
Your videos are absolutely top notch
Since you have mentioned that in this video. Please make a video on Ford Escort RS Cosworth.
awesome video and presenter, love the 12c. but if you want some constructive criticism i didn't like the black and white + splashes of color. i know color is more difficult to process and to work with but is much more pleasant on videos i think. subscribed though :)
Love the video, love the review. The gray really adds to the mood. Brilliant!!!
What's the music right at the end which is used ? I love it!
Damn this is good, you got a new subscriber!
The camera work looks like it is top gear UK.
your points are well taken however, your missing a key essential point that is the emotional connection to the other two cars. I want to hire your video guy...epic.
If your first try with your 'entry level' car in your line up can pretty much blow away anything else on planet earth on the track then you know McLaren have the right minds, the right brand, and are pointed in the right direction. What an amazing video. Congrats!
The 12C is sooo great!!

i just want some colours come on!

Where did they get the music around the 7:30 Mark?
what is the name of the background music in 1 minute?
how do you guys get your hands on these cars?!
Agree with Viking445 very nice review
There's something about the 12C that turns me off. Overall, I'd rather an R8 V10, 911, or even a GT-R. It's still one hell of a car though.
2. Would bet with 90% certainty if Ferrari were in McLarens place they would charge or just not update the older cars at all.
what's the engine from the intro??? i swear that sound is fucking heaven
matte black paint, matte black rims, red calipers = BEAUTY!
Right.... I love all those beautiful Japanese hyper cars... oh wait... And this is coming from someone who loves the NSX, but Japan hasn't been in the game since that car first came out. GT-R is a numbers car, not even comparable to the NSX and the leaps forward it made for the supercar world.

Don't get me wrong I love all 3, I'm just saying.
Love this car:D but the Mclaren 650s will make you feel depressed for getting a 12c
Great Vid! Subscribed!
Its not the heritage that give the other manufacturers "soul". It is that the 12c feels almost digital. As if they let the engineers from Forza and Polyphony tell them what the car should feel like. forgot to mention this beast is a 7 speed
Your last sentence is all the proof I needed that you were a GT-R fanboy. Go look at some numbers on the internet and be happy, I'd rather actually get a special feeling from driving the car.
Wow' good stuff. Like the black and white.
Great film !
McLaren has got a good heritage. Its won more grands prix than any other Formula 1 team. Otherwise good video
Here in oz you can get a brand new 12C for $200,000 less then the 458 and the 12C is better in every way so yes Italy should be worried because Mclaren actually care about their customers GOOD DAY.... : )

I feel color blind
McLaren was great, and forever will be great in this industry.
Short answer: yes! And they did change
Why should we be scared? We should be happy instead! The more supercars out there the better!!!
this is spartaah!
but should italy be scared? italy maybe... ferrari in particular? not really. just a matter of personal taste.
What exactly did the NSX do? First all aluminum body? Mid engine VTEC, big deal. The old Porsche 911's were wiping the floor with those back in the day.
The GTR set a whole fucking standard for the performance car world. It has put nearly every single fucking car company on notice.
this car is so good on real racing 3
7.28 - the face and brake caliper is in colors. Don't say video is monochromic.
i like the color idea but not for a full episode
Italy afraid of this? Naw. This is a car for people who value engineering and precision over panache and presence. It may very well be a bit faster than a 458 but it lacks the looks.
Really prefer the look of this one over the 650S, too bad the 650S is better :P
My first sentence was worded horribly? ummm ok...Also I find it hilarious you think the NSX was the first usable super car. Does Porsche ring a bell?
Yes the NSX were more reliable and usable than the Ferraris of the time, but no, it was not the first DD supercar, if you could even call it that.
This guy is awesome!!
The british know how to review cars. Nice job guys! :D
good review :)
So I win €25m on the lottery and immediately go off and buy a ferrari 458 and a Porsche Cayenne Turbo. All well and good except I am a Brit so I take them back and swap for a McLaren and RR Sport. there, that's better...
Yes it should
Check your facts!
What colour was it?
A couple of shots in B&W it's good, but this one... It just seems you run out of color...
I think this one doesn't have the XCAR standard...
Was hoping for a bit more with this car...
Great video and great editing, but this time I think you went a little bit to far
get the g63 amg 6x6 please!
3 McLaren
After hearing it, all I can think of is two Honda K20's bolted together. Before you bash me, go listen to a boosted K20 then come back to it.
Hahaha
The car was actually that colour, dark grey.
