This film introduced me to the TMNT franchise. I love this movie even though it has it's flaws. I think the turtle designs are okay, they could have made the turtles a bit shorter and less bulky
donetello wasn’t so bulky, I liked the height, it’s more mutant like and cooler in my opinion, I’ve been a fan of many of the versions and the new approach just gives a cool new vibe that you don’t get with the shorter ones, these look more impressive in a way and gives you more intense insane action
I think the designs are great, no ninja turtle version has had beak designs, they’ve always had sort of lips and human like teeth, like how they are in the 2012 versions where can dee it most, Mikey in these 2014 16 films resemble that of the 2012 nick turtles. I don’t think there’s a problem at all, each gen had there own versions, each all looked different, this was also done because then you’ll be able to connect with the turtles in a more deeper way while in the other hand, a more turtle like face would not allow for such expressions especially in the face. They’d look more like monsters and people would complain as well so you’ll never escape that. Besides let’s not forget they’re mutants, they’re not all so bulky, donatello isn’t that bulky. They’re just tall and I like that approach because they seem more like how donnatello said, bad*ss.
Granted, this movie indeed has its flaws. One of the biggest ones, which is a fact, is Megan Fox. She was a bad choice to play April. And I wasn't comfortable with the origin story of how the turtles and Splinter were her "pets." It felt weird. Maybe their outfits were too cluttered, but I think it goes well with their personalities. The Shredder was intense in the first one. The second one, I feel like they just shrank him down into a punk with a constant scowl. He got himself frozen on Krangs TechnoDrone, ya'll. If they gave this another chance, I would recommend someone else play April. Do some more TMNT research and studies to create a more epic and jaw-dropping plot line. And also, treat the ones playing these oversized arm candies with decency and respect.
