For relief of my OCD, I'd exchange the mini blinds on the round window next to the front door. The TV would be excellent, if installed on a pivot bracket to cover that window for when privacy is desired. Plus, the relocated TV clears off the bartop (as Alexis said👍👏).

I checked one out 25 years ago in Melbourne Florida. The owner and I were sitting on the back deck watching dolphins jump around. I was so sold, but the storm aspect was concerning. So I prayed at that moment to feel what it's like and sure enough I was sent a storm within moments. It was an easy no and that one was on pylons! Wish it had a restaurant that close. 😃 That one was gorgeous, and a much better view of Puget Sound ❣

I always thought I'd like to live in a houseboat, but I do get seasick (though I love sailing!) so maybe it wouldn't be the right thing for me. It's great that you mention all the drawbacks or things to look out for. Many of the things that come with living on a houseboat or floating home one gets used to - like holding on, securing keys, glasses, phone, etc., but it would be a whole different experience renting one for a short stay! But I do have to say that living on the sea is attractive. But I'd rather not be cheek-by-jowl with a bunch of folks, so I guess I'll just stay in my little rural cabin!

Actually I had been looking when looking at places in the Pacific Northwest! My ex and inlaws (we are still close) had been talking about it as was I before they thought about it as well. They were looking at homes and I was looking at floating homes or house boats. I had lived on a schooner for a bit before and my aunt and uncles house boat in Northdern Cal for two Summers so this isn't new to me. So I am glad to see you doing a vid or two on this and ALSO telling the pros and cons about it as well!

Grew up & lived on the water most of my life even on our yacht while our house was being built on the canal. Living in a marina on a boat is very close to one another, you hear everything, see everything, smell everything. Rarely any steady coverage for tv & radio signals. Lots & lots of dampness living on the water sheets & seating area was always a little damp. Living on a house boat / floating home powered or stationary, they both have its ups & downs.
The main one being NO PRIVACY & the STORMS, hurricanes, rising water..
    But the ups are:
FISH & CRAB right out your door.
CLEAN & gut fish right there at the marina provided wash station.
SAILBOATS as neighbors, the sounds of the masts clanking softly is like a lullaby.
    NEIGHBORS are cooking
NEIGHBORS having a laui drink party
NEIGHBORS share their catch for the day with you NEIGHBORS take you out on their boat for a cruise hitting restaurants/bars up & down the coast.
IF YOU have any issues with your boat everyone is willing to help, it is a great community....
YOU JUST CAN'T RUN AROUND or TAN NAKED.😅
Oh & neighbors & myself had been known to slip & fall into the water or on the tie out ropes drinking OR not.
Lost many a keys & cell phones purses...glup glup
Difficulty bringing supplies "especially furniture" onto the boat.
The piers were never wide enough & should always have railings on both sides of piers.
And you Will always have seagull shit on your seats, Rails, decks.😊
Lastly must watch look down before you sit, been known to have a few water moccasins on the seat.
Didn't care for the in the water maintenance at all....too many predators reminding you your in there space😮
Would I could I live on that boat? No.
It is ALL about the location & amenties offered by the marinas.

This is wonderful breakdown of pros & cons-thank you for sharing! 😊 Weighing the pros & cons of any alternative home is essential, including the location. 🙌 Good to know that slips even happen to those well accustomed with life on the water-not just the clumsy prone, like myself! 😜 I bet you have great balancing skills though, from your experience

    • @streetsmartintelligent
      @streetsmartintelligent 4 месяца назад +1

      Thanks.
And nope still not balanced, especially when you get older😊

      Still miss the life however...

Love this beautiful "tiny" floating home. I could see living here. I agree about the TV, it looks like there's enough wall there to do a flexible mount or use a ceiling drop down mount, so you can move it out of the way to use the bar without having to pick it up and put it on the floor. So how many butts is the kitchen space? :D Thanks for the tour!
