  • After recently being purchased, Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad's Alco RS3M pulls one final train for the WNYP: an empty ballast train which would be loaded in Machias NY, while being taken to her new owners: the Arcade & Attica Railroad in Arcade. Heading up the former Pennsylvania Railroad Buffalo Line, the old Alco would change hands from the WNYP to the Buffalo & Pittsburgh, and finally from the B&P to the Arcade & Attica before arriving at her new home!

What an immaculate unit! Should be fun watching it run on A&A tracks. 😊👍

She is a gorgeous machine, and I'm looking forward to chasing her on the A&A!

That RS3 pulled many excursions for the Tioga Central for years. I miss seeing it, but I'm glad to see its still in service.

An enjoyable video to watch. The RS3M looked pretty sharp for the transfer. Only thing missing was a band for the event. But all the rail fans, I suppose, were the band. And weren't those 1500s the ones you mentioned were being retired in an earlier video? Kinda cool shot with all of them together.

Thank you, I'm glad I went out for this one and stayed out til the end! I think I would've regretted it had I stayed home or gone elsewhere. Fortunately the SW1500s on the B&P and other G&W subsidiaries aren't going anywhere, but a couple vintage Geeps in the area are on the chopping block.

An RS-3, always one of my favorite locos. Been to see Batten Kill for that reason. Good catch Matty. What's that behind it, looks like a spreader.

Thank you! Yep, that's a Jordan spreader, it was also bought by the Arcade & Attica when they bought the RS3M.

if I ran a RS3 and AC 600 in the same consist the prototype cult would go apoplectic and deride my setup. However you captured it for real and now I can justify it albeit with old PRR RS3 and CSX AC600

Nothing but LED lights on that consist… that’s one awesome catch. Not every day one gets to see and film an RS3m pulling two AC6000’s around, or a locomotive being delivered live to its new railroad… some historic footage you got, here

To think I almost stayed home, what a mistake that would've been. It was a fun and memorable day for sure!

Looks like the A&A are fixing for some ROW bushwhacking.
Also, are they going to stick a temporary tent over the RS3M and spray it a new paint scheme? Or maybe at least change the number cards so this will be 114. Now that I think of it, Erie black & yellow isn't totally strange..

From what I read, the only plan they have for now is to change the number boards and road name on the long hood. Personally I'd love to see them leave it black but paint the letters and stripes in orange, kinda like an homage to their Alco steamer.

    Great work, Matty.
An RS-3 is the very first loco I got a chance to ride on in Middleport with Neil K. about 1970.
I would like to speak with you regarding a project I am working on here. I could use a bit of help if you have a minute to talk.
Did not see an email in your YT info. Is there another way to contact you?
    Thanks!

Thank you! I actually saw Neil earlier today, and will be posting the video tomorrow. He's a great guy! I do have an email, but it's my personal one that I like to keep private so people don't spam my inbox lol.
