Growing up in Portland, during the late 80s-early 90s, Gus Van Santa was and still is a legend. Drugstore Cowboy was the first of his films I had seen at an early age. That film captures Portland, the now lost locations, and the drug culture of that era.
BPD leads to addiction as people who go undiagnosed don't know how to deal with the mania so they self medicate. It's difficult to live with. It takes constant daily maintenance. Our daughter has this and it's heartbreaking.

He’s from west orange New Jersey. Minutes from NYC, minutes from Montclair, minutes from Hoboken and jersey city. Plenty of art and culture and film. I grew up in Montclair, the town even has its own film festival now. Even back then, there was a midnight showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show at an old theater on Bloomfield Avenue. That same theater showed indie films all throughout the week. I don’t understand or agree with that point he made. North Jersey is a great place to grow up for anyone interested in the arts.
I remember seeing it upon its release (Last Days) and being scared, like just slightly. I mean it was so creepy! Lol...No dialogue, lots of confusion, weird scenes, etc. It was great though, I loved it and my girl at the time was like "This is stupid" ANyways, I remember it sorta turned me onto The Velvet Underground too. I was only 22-23 at the timeand I was just mesmerized by that one scene of dude just swaying back n fourth like, singing along to "Venus In Furs" for practically ALL the song. And that's how odd a film it was...Like THINK ab that! Lol To film someone singing the song practically all the way through, or nearly! It was just so incredibly weird and intriguing.
This guy seems high on something in this interview. It’s a shame now in 2024 he appears to be on a downward spiral with violence and substances. Hollywierd gets to everyone in the end.
