  • Scaramouche has done a lot of awful things, but I don't think rummaging through Kazuha's stuff was one of them. This video has a quick recap and summary of the main Irodori event quest plus two small theories.

    **NOTES AND CORRECTIONS**
Phyrex pointed out something really interesting that does change the "Niwa" section of this video entirely. I'll be addressing this in a related video, but here's the gist:
Nagamasa's full name is Mikoshi Nagamasa, but he's referred to as "Nagamasa-sama." Katsuragi is referenced as "Katsuragi-sama." Nagamasa outranks Katsuragi, so it would make sense for him to be addressed with more respect than Katsuragi(like his last name instead of his first), but he's not. This heavily suggests that, for consistency purposes, Katsuragi is a FIRST NAME and not a last name.
This is actually supported by the fact that the characters used for Katsuragi are unusual and don't match the characters normally used whenever Katsuragi is used as a surname. I never gave this much thought prior to Phyrex pointing it out, so I'm now convinced that Katsuragi's full name is Niwa Katsuragi, which WOULD make Kazuha his descendent.
I still stand by the other observations but for different reasons. :P

helloo ashikai, i find that scaramouche's connection to Niwa Katsuragi and the swordsmiths of his past is very interesting and I was wondering if you would like to make a video about it explaining the story of inazuma around the time during the plague of tatarasuna (the blacksmithing families and the corruption from the crystal marrow) and how whether knowing that kazuha is a descendant of the niwa clan will change anything about the way scaramouche feels, like how would this affect future patches with scaramouche's presence, would scaramouche finally get his "redemption arc" through kazuha? how would it play off? i heard from leaks that scaramouche might become a weekly boss, although i'm not sure if he will be fighting the traveler, along with kazuha (maybe?) or even with ei cause they really need to clear up their issues.
i can't remember if you did this already in a video but i have terrible memory and limited screentime so i might as well post this before i forget. i would do my own research on his lore if i could but i'm too unbelievably dense to comprehend anything or make any logical conclusions. Even as i'm writing this, i'm depending solely on my last 2 remaining braincells and I'm lucky to have even made it this far with my rambling. thank you for listening to my ted talk because i don't even know what i just wrote

Here's a bonus wack theory: it's possible that whoever broke into the warehouse actually planted the letter there for Kazuha to find. I had the impression that magic appearing-ink is a somewhat recent invention, making it a bit strange that a Kaedehara from hundreds of years ago wrote a long invisible letter with it. The break-in doesn't serve much story purpose if the thief failed to find anything (and wasn't even Scaramouche), and it's kind of weird that nobody found that letter for like 200 years until Ayato and Kazuha both found it independently. If this is true, it could be the Fatui attempting to draw Scara out of hiding; they might know enough of his backstory.
One thing does make me doubt the thief not being Scara, though--in that last scene, Ayato says he didn't bother chasing the culprit because "the identity of [the thief] is not hard to guess" which doesn't make a whole lot of sense if it was Childe (who he's never met) or just a random Fatui agent. If it wasn't Scara, it must have been someone easy for an Inazuman to recognize, and/or obvious for some other reason. Maybe Ayato's just doing his galaxy-brain stuff again.

    • @naboume466
      @naboume466 2 года назад +74

but both Ayaka and xingqui said the ink is an old invention, we don't know the reason for the break in yet but it most likely one of the 3 answers to the question Ayato gave us at the end, the fatui are trying to hide something about scara.
As for the thief I think it was clear that it wasn't scara, the traveler clearly stated that a Fatui spy broke in something he wouldn't have said if it was scara.

@@naboume466 i was gonna say this too, and also I don't find it hard to believe the special ink was used even in the generation of kazuha's great grandfather. Inazuma even in the past was a very political country, even the shumatsuban, a secret organization of stealth trained people, existed. Wouldn't be surprised if people from noble clans and such frequently used it to avoid detection in letters and messages for one reason or another. Maybe the ink was one of those open secrets kind of deal only within the political circle and commonfolk didn't really know about it

Makes me wonder if the intepretations can indicate how different the branches within isshin art came about. Yknow, if you read Haran Futsu and Kagotsurobe Isshin, they mention about clans of Isshin art. Akame, Niwa and Kaedehara. It is shown in Haran Futsu that the originator of Isshin art learn from the futsu blacksmith the art of forging. They are Akame, Niwa and Kaedehara. Akame clan focus on creating an extremely sharp sword, Niwa in clay tempering with great diligence and honesty and Kaedehara based on preserving the mentor's teaching. They all have different focus yet a singular focus. I havent read the real Kanji for Isshin but having 3 ways of interpretting makes me wonder if the existence of 3 clans within Isshin Art has a connection.

I'm really into the Niwa-Katsuragi theory. In Chinese and Japanese culture, the 桂木 tree (katsuragi) is part of a myth where a man is punished by the gods to trim the 桂木 tree for all eternity.
When Yoshinori said his father disappeared before being adopted into the Kaedehara family, it made me think Katsuragi is his fake name but a fitting one. He might have fled for a crime he committed against the shogun and didn't want to tell his son. Helping Scaramouche until the end might have been his way for atoning his past crimes. However, it only leads into his downfall. He's never able to make things right and his death only perpetuates an endless path for revenge.

  • @shntnsh382
    @shntnsh382 2 года назад +105

So…a few things I’d like to add:
    1. Ayato didn’t complicate things unnecessary, he gave Kazuha the choice of whether to pursue the truth or not, since he knows that is a very personal past for Kazuha and the truth may not be something he wanted to know. Hence the ‘test’ to see if Kazuha has the will and mind to figure out the truth.
    2. Kazuha was fine without knowing who actually did it to his family because what he wanted was the truth of what happened to his family and the real reason of failing to forge the weapon. As someone who wanted to be free from the family legacy, knowing who the ‘mastermind’ actually is isn’t necessary, since he doesn’t really care about who this ‘Kunikuzushi’ is, as long as he knows what happened, that’s enough for him. Heck, he might not even know that this ‘Kunikuzushi’ is still alive, since the incident was great-grandfather-level old, it’s just old history to him.
    3. Yoshinori (and even the Kamisato at the time) was afraid that being spared by the person who single-handedly sabotaged almost all katana smithing technics would mean having connections unknown to them to the culprit, and that was enough to have themselves executed. The events simply made them paranoid of what would happen if others find out the truth.
    4. The reason why Scaramouch spared Yoshinori was as simple as him being a descendant of Niwa, whether the Niwa’s were the descendants of Katsuragi or someone else he knew doesn’t really affect his choice of sparing them. As to why he stopped revenging after this, I’d say it has nothing to do with Yoshinori, but it was the Raiden Shogun’s near-zero reaction that made him realize the whole revenge against the Gokaden (which was actually revenge against Raiden Ei) was pointless. It was more like a kid doing bad things for experiment to see how the mother would react and got bored when she did nothing, and the thing with Katsuragi only provided an excuse for him to do so (or that’s what he thought, not knowing that he really cared for Katsuragi).

I'm not sold on the idea that he was doing it for Ei's attention, and I'm not sure why his revenge would be turned towards her either. He swore revenge against the raiden gokaden, not Ei. The art of swordsmithinf may have come from the shogun, but there were two. We don't know that Ei was solely responsible for that given that Makoto was the one who used a sword. I guess it's not impossible, but I struggle to make it work in my head.

To her it was an act of mercy (compared to Gold literally feeding defective Albedos to Durin), but she never communicated with him afterwards (probably hardly any beforehand either, seeing how he turned out to be), instead she just shut herself in her realm and went back to meditation. The fact that he told Yoshinori to “tell her” is quite obvious that he wanted her to know “I did it”, if not I don’t see any reason let tell her anything.

I actually think that Scaramouche will be the final boss of the Sumeru chapter, since Dottore tampered with him right after he joined the Fatui. Dottore could have implemented some sort of fallback mechanic, where if the worst happens and Scara decides to defect, Dottore can take away all his choice and free will and turn him into a puppet to be controlled at Dottore's whim. If I had to guess, this is how they make Scara redeemable in time for his banner, as we defeat him and help him get out of Dottore's influence, then Scara tries to kill Dottore, and Scara and Traveler start on a tentative road to reconciliation. Thus, you have a somewhat-friendly Scara in time for his banner to be dropped.

To me that doesn't add up though. Childe isn't the type to be deceitful first off. Even in Liyue he made a huge scene everywhere he went and never hid himself from anyone really. Moreover, the idea that Childe isn't very smart is weird. He just prefers being upfront and not using deception, that doesn't mean he is dumb.
Remember Childe is the one who literally cracked the code of the Adepti without any help from Signora or ZhongLi. He copied those sigils made from Adepti magic so precisely that it fooled all the Adepti. On top of that, he mass produced them to a degree never seen before. The Adepti said only a few were ever made and that they were extremely powerful. Yet Childe made truckloads of them without assistance and even knew how to use their power to summon Osial. That part of the plan had nothing to do with Signora or Morax. He did that using his own intelligence.
If he can do all that in such a short time, I think he would find a note under a plant. Not to mention he is a hydro user, making this even easier for him.

This was a really interesting video, I have to admit I have mixed feelings about the Fatui spy theory but you definitely have a point about this spy being on the clumsy side compared to Scaramouche. If not Childe, which other Harbinger could be interested in the mission of tracking him down (Edit: On second read, it specifically says "but 'who' would want to hide Kunikuzushi's past," so this wasn't totally right on my part. And it raises another question - if Childe was the Fatui spy, why would HE want to hide Kunikuzushi's past?)? Very interesting stuff to consider. It seems to me that, given Scaramouche's origin story, he may feel he was denied his birthright. With the Electro Archon Gnosis in his possession, he may be playying to overthrow Ei and take her place. He may have even joined the Fatui knowing that the Tsaritsa is going after the Gnosi(es?) of the archons and wanted to use this to further his goal of obtaining the eletro archon's gnosis. He also understands the power of the Musou Isshin and therefore would need to acquire more information on it in order to either exploit a weakness in it or identify a more powerful weapon to counter it.

Bc of being plagued by guilty conscience? ...well when u feel guilty u recognize your mistakes and apologize, u don't just hide your wrongdoings

Ayato has a pretty vast intelligence network, so I'm pretty sure he'd know the thief's allegiance. Same goes for the fatui, with their level of intelligence gathering, they could figure out where to get more info on scara, and sent childe to do it since childe is the fatuis errand boy

    • @Loserstakethebait
      @Loserstakethebait 2 года назад +7

@@sivvinod3187 Still makes more sense that the one who actually had a reason to do it (Scaramouche), is the one who did it. It's a cool theory, but it's heavily insinuated to be Scaramouche. Just the fact that Ayato asks the traveler about what exactly the perpetrator was trying to hide makes it hard to dispute. He described Scaramouche's intentions pretty accurately.
Moreover, Scaramouche lived in Inazuma for quite awhile and was basically betrayed by the shogun herself for having emotions. They tossed him out against his will and banished him before he had ever committed a single crime. He has good reason to sabotage Inazuma and cover his tracks. He was also in training to become the new shogun, so it makes sense that he could easily enter a government facility.

He’s highly hinted to be the one who recruited Scara at first, and well the theory surrounding Pierro being a Khaenrian(suggesting he lives longer than Scara to know his secret, and perhaps wants to keep Scara’s secret personal for his schemes?).
So maybe, he ordered his underlings to infiltrate the warehouse? If it’s not his order, then maybe some other Fatui harbinger that we haven’t met yet. Just my wild guess…

He wasn't tossed out he left out of his own free will. They tried to prevent him from leaving.
And I still don't think the motives actually line up with anything that Scaramouche would actually do at least not given his current characterization. I know that opinion is very subjective but I still haven't heard a compelling argument against it.

    • @Loserstakethebait
      @Loserstakethebait 2 года назад +1

@@Ashikai He didn't leave the Shogun of his own free will, he left Inazuma. That's not the same thing. The artifact set explaining his lore says that the shogun essentially deemed him unworthy of being archon because he cried in his sleep one time. Then she exiled him from Inazuma city. That's when he started being an Ahole trying to get a rise out of Raiden.
Also, it is a lot like Scaramouche. All these characters are strongly related to their counterparts in the play they're based off of. And that Scaramouche is one who talks a lot of crap, yet he is a major screw up and never succeeds at anything he does. He is a confrontational but bad at actually fighting or following through with anything he does. He also got bullied by Signora and disliked Tartaglia in most scenarios because of his natural talent and versatility.
Lastly, it does say he is the thief if you read the context of what Ayato said. He refers to both the thief and the one who ruined Kazuha's family name as the same person throughout the dialogue.

And the other one (経津 - futsu) relates to a god of swords and lightning who is a general for amaterasu (the sun goddess and who was believed to be the direct ancestor of the emperor of japan) not sure if there's a parallel here between raiden and kunikuzushi?

It uses "Nagamasa-sama", not "Mikoshi-sama". It would be very odd if "Katsuragi-sama" is a last name because that would be inconsistent writing style by the same person. So, you could very well be right and involving Kazuha and Scaramouche could be the end of the Inazuma arc, but, at the same time, we might not get it before Sumeru. What makes me feel this way? One thing in particular. If you remember, around the time of the last Lantern Rite, we got a continuation of the Liyue story with the rebuilding of the Jade Chamber around the time Inazuma was wrapping up the end of the archon quest. If anything, we might get it later in another intermediate chapter, possibly after Sumeru. This is just my theory though. I could very well be wrong, but knowing that about a whole year was waited out before the Jade Chamber was rebuilt, I wouldn't bat an eye if the developers came out and told us that we had to wait until later, after 3.0, to wrap up the whole thing with Scaramouche and the gnosis.

That's also why we know almost for certain that the theif was Scaramouche and not someone else. Ayato literally asked why the theif would want to steal that and then gave us the option to say that "he" wanted to hide the fact that he spared someone. Like that is as clear cut as Genshin lore gets. It says in that conversation just off context alone that Scaramouche is the one who ruined Kazuha's family and the person who did that is the thief. As they are referenced as the same person over and over.

I actually thought of the same thing, and even made a reddit post with similar details and motives in the video and had a similar conclusion of the culprit being Childe. Thanks goodness I’m not the only one who thought this.
To add, Ayato mentioned that if you wanted to keep something a secret, you wouldn’t let any info of it public. He was talking about letting the warehouse incident go, but he also could’ve been talking about the “fatui spy” themselves. After all, if the thief didn’t try to search for something, the whole Irodori festival would’ve been, well, not about Scaramouche. We know that wording is important because Albedo purposefully pointed it out to us in the quest, and Ayato is a politician (a person who’s vague on stuff).
AKA Ayato is either criticizing Scaramouche (dealing a blow to the egotistical midget), or the “fatui spy” (being a terrible spy)
This just makes me wonder if Thoma was actually searching for Ayato’s wallet at all...

  • @Sophera01

Revisiting this theory in 4.0 because it's still interesting.
Especially after the Sumeru archon quest unfolded the way it did, I STILL believe that it was Dottore in disguise (or that he at least had a hand in it), appearing as Scaramouche because either it would draw less attention or because he wanted to frame him (once again manipulating him). Remember the lengths he tried going through just to get to Haypasia? The best reasoning we got for that was because she saw Scaramouche's life when she connected to Irmunsil and there was SOMETHING among those memories that the Doctor either didn't want getting out or that he, himself, maybe wanted access to. Scaramouche, himself, has also noted Pierro's unusual interest in him, so Dottore and Pierro could have worked together behind the scenes on this endeavor. Ayato came to the conclusion that they never found anything or that they didn't achieve their goal, but even that is just his assumption based on what his eyes told him, plus his assumption on what their mission was and exactly what they were after.
-He still had all of his clones at this point in the story, as well, making it entirely possible for him to be in multiple locations at the same time, working on various plans/schemes and research projects.
*Even if Albedo asked Yae Miko for reference, the scenes we saw in the past still show Scaramouche's figure and it appeared to be from Ayato's perspective. Ayato would not easily misidentify someone so confidently, thus, the person fooling him must be at least equally cunning, if not more so.
*Because Miko knows Scaramouche well, she should know that it's quite unlikely that he's the actual culprit. However, it's well-known that she is not only mischievous, but also that she gets irritated whenever people compare Ayato to a fox, or Ayato to her. Thus, any opportunity to fool him or make him waste his time is one that would probably appeal to her, even if she couldn't publicly make a fool out of him because of the nature of the situation.

The more I think about it the more I think that makes even less sense. No one knew that this letter even existed up until a fattui spy went looking for it. And the secret that Ayato mentioned is in this mysterious letter. The only one up until that point who should have known about the contents of the letter was the one who wrote it so theoretically there was no secret being protected by anyone other than Yoshinori, and we've already been told that the reason why he kept things secret was because he didn't want his family to be destroyed.
Any of the options here are valid secrets from the letter but, for those secrets to merit someone wanting to steal them, they must be tied to the thief's motivation. So the thief still wants to prove one or more of those three things which brings me back to the points that I was making in the video. None of these items are anything that Scaramouche would care about so why would he want the letter?
And it's never stated that Childe left Inazuma after the Labyrinth warriors event, at least not that I could find.

I've been watching your videos since a long time and I enjoy them a lot, you always catch a lot of interesting details and your theories are so interesting to hear, and I do agree with a lot of them! But... in this particular one, I think there are some details that are a bit off. I'll try to explain myself. And sorry for the... huge... wall of text.
My first thought at reading the line about the Fatui spy was that it was Scaramouche, because of the context we're given on the event. Then I later thought "hey, what about Childe? He could still be around Inazuma since he was looking for Scara, and it just turns out that Kuronushi's portrait is revealed with water, and who is a Hydro user? It might be some foreshadowing!" but after giving it some more thought, I don't think Childe is the Fatui spy/thief for some reasons. I'll try to be as clear as I can.
Before anything, I'll try to say why I think the thief that was found searching for something in the warehouse wasn't Childe, but with that I'm not automatically implying it was Scaramouche. Although there are very few candidates that fit both working with the Fatui and wanting to protect the Kaedehara clan's secret. Anyway, let's start.
First of all, I agree Childe has a more direct approach at dealing with... things, instead of just spying and scheming like the other Harbingers like to do. But he's neither stupid nor he just uses brute force to deal with problems. In his Character Tale video, when he enters Yanshang Teahouse for debt collection, he does it on a stealthy way (the master doesn't know the Fatui are there at first), so even if he doesn't like to use those methods, he knows how to use them, probably because of Fatui training.
Second, I... don't think the association Scaramouche = Kunikuzushi would be easy for anyone that doesn't know much about the guy. But since he's doing his research, we'll suppose he reached that point. The point he couldn't reach no matter what is Kunikuzushi's involvement with the Kaedehara clan, because that's the very thing Yoshinori was trying to hide from the world. The only ones that could reach that information would only be three people:
    - Ayato, being a part of the Kamisato clan, knew his family was weakened by the time the Kaedehara clan fell. Even if he didn't know the truth, he could easily link the dots with the events that happened recently (a thief entering the warehouse with the Kaedehara clan's belongings but taking nothing). In fact, Ayato personally found the paper after investigating all the Kaedehara clan's stuff, and by the way he said it, it looks like the thief didn't even find the paper, he was the first one that thought about putting it in water (which is kind of funny since he's also a Hydro user lol). But to reach it, he had a clue about where to search.
    - Kazuha, being a Kaedehara, knows well his family's history, and it's not something he has to research as a stranger, but he had to be guided by Ayato to reach the truth, otherwise he couldn't do it.
    - Of course, Kunikuzushi himself.
How would Childe know that he had to search in between the Kaedehara clan's belongings for clues about Scaramouche? How did he made that connection?
You mentioned the rather aged notes found in Tatarasuna, and that Childe would have access to them (which I find it a bit iffy because we know there is almost zero communication between Harbingers), but how can he connect what happened to Katsuragi to Kunikuzushi if the notes only mention "a nameless eccentric"?
And now that Kunikuzushi's past is mentioned, it takes me to the next point:
Why would Childe want to hide Scaramouche's past? His task was just to find him and retrieve the gnosis. I don't think Childe cares much about Scaramouche as an individual, he's just looking for him because that's what his archon ordered him, and weapons obey their masters' orders without hesitation. I'll say more about the weapon thing later.
And the last point it's just a tiny detail, but at the end of the Irodori Festival, Ayato tells us that "the identity of this person (the thief) is not hard to guess", which makes me think a few things:
    - The thief has a very distinctive look, easy to recognize. Childe, if you ask me... looks rather normal. Well, yes, he's a ginger, and I don't think there are a lot of gingers on Inazuma, but his appearance is not very striking, the most weird part about his outfit is his mask.
    - He is implying it's a rather obvious conclusion to reach, or that it's easy to find.
    - And at first I thought that, on the context where he says it, he implied that the Traveler would know the identity of the thief, but after reading it again it can also mean that it isn't hard for HIM to guess his identity, so I'll let that pass by. Ayato would easily know if we're connected to Childe by just putting a Shuumatsuban member to spy on us all the time (which... he has probably done, honestly), but even with it, even if he knew Childe was a Fatui Harbinger, he doesn't imply even once that he could be involved in all of this. If he was, Ayato probably would have said it a bit differently, since Childe's name isn't mentioned once in all the event. I... just find it a bit off.
And... I'm taking this as a more storytelling? point of view: I think everything going on the Irodori Festival event is done to create depth for Scaramouche's character, making him the central point, hinting that we will fight him in the future. Childe's role on the story will be important, I think we all agree on that, but I don't think it'll be directly tied to Scaramouche all the time. It would be weird for a character that was presented to us so early in the story, when he's from the nation of the ""bad guys"" are coming from. That, and the emphasys the Labyrinth Warriors event gave him as "a weapon for the Tsaritsa" makes me think that he won't be just an errand boy searching for other bad guys, but someone that will have his own story, will develop through our journey and thrive on the battlefield, because that's what he loves the most, not playing the detective game. Or at least that's what I want to believe, knowing his character is one of the most complex of all the playable ones so far.
Anyway, SORRY for trapping you into reading this, I know it was WAY too long. Thank you in any case for reading me, and seriously, I hope you keep doing your theory and research videos because they're really well done and as I said, you catch a lot of details and make a lot of connections that aren't so obvious to make, and I enjoy those a lot. I learn so much thanks to your videos, so again, thank you so much, and keep up the good work! ♡

No worries! I actually like reading these kinds of comments lol
You raise some valid points but I can counter a few of them. First I think that Scaramouche's outfit is actually far less conspicuous than Childe while in Inazuma specifically. Scaramouche's outfit, well rather detailed and unique, is based off of completely traditional Inazuman attire. Childe is wearing clothes from a foreign country so I think it's far more likely for him to stand out under those circumstances. What appears normal for us isn't necessarily normal for the people in the game.
You're also right about the harbinger's not really conversing between each other except under very particular circumstances. But here's the thing - the soldiers in the fattui do talk to each other, and collaboration does happen and is possible if they're being asked to collaborate on a task. It's true that there's no reason why Childe would know that the rather aged notes are about Scaramouche, but it's worth noting that there's only a few of the notes left and we don't know how many there were originally. Based on the amount of information that's missing from the notes it might be worthwhile to consider the possibility that there is more detailed information that was written that we don't get to see because it was not plundered during he raid on the fatui. Besides that the husk of opulent dreams does suggest that the person who took Scaramouche in when he tried to leave Inazuma 500 years ago was one of the earlier harbingers and would therefore have known quite a bit more about him at that time and maybe even known what to look for, and very easily could have instructed either signora or arlechhino to investigate for him.
I also think the line, their identity is not hard to guess, doesn't naturally imply Scaramouche as the thief or the spy because we already had a whole event dedicated to Childe. That's not solid evidence by any means but it's enough to make me question.
Now I could be totally off base on every count here but I'm still not sold on Scaramouche having a bizarre change of heart and panic rummaging through someone's stuff only to abandon the idea and immediately leave by boat for some unknown reason. Something feels off so even if he was originally going through stuff I don't think he was the only one. In my opinion it either wasn't him or there were two.
... But we'll probably find out in the next 6 months I think. We can compare notes again then :D

I thought the one who broke into the warehouse was Scara since Kurinoshi trying to cover his wrong doings and Scara is today's Kuronoshi
I don't think the guards noticed that someone snuck ib, they only noticed that someone had been going through the stuff and that's when Ayato told the Shumatsuban to keep and eye on the warehouse and that's when they noticed that someone
    PFFFT!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
We have been si focused on Scara lately that i completely forgot that Childe was also in Inazuma
Also the "someone" being a Fatui might work for Scara ad the fact the he probably betrayed the Tsaritsa and the harbingers isn't public knowledge yet and also this person being a Fatui agents do sent feel right i mean what use could the fatui have for knowing what Scara did to people, not to mention they might already have all this info due to Scara being worked on by Dottore ( like by extracting info from his puppet brain or maybe just asking him about it?)
So i think it is Scaramouche, but he wasn't looking for the letter instead, might be looking for something else entirely or a 3rd party individual who is looking for Scaramouche or is gathering info on him, thus also explaining the fatui appearance (as in where do you go to find a Harbinger with a bad attitude)

Great video as always, although I'd argue on one possible scenario in this theory:
Scaramouche might still be the one who did all those things anyway because of the reason that he is unstable with the Gnosis from Ei's point of view (before she ditched him as a viable vessel). therefore, he might have a change of heart - or even an entire personality change when he aquired the Gnosis.

    • @Nivanger
      @Nivanger 2 года назад

      Yeah, I kinda agree.
Altough if you think about it, the change of heart could answer the need for Scaramouche's "redemption arc", so he can become a playable character in the future.
If that were the case, then all of the Scaramouche savers will have a heart break knowing their "angry midget" is now "not angry" anymore.

  • @MahirAnowar

My theory on why it could have been Scaramouche who was going through the warehouse is not because of any of the 3 options, but because of the mention of Niwa. I think that name is what is going to be a crucial clue to uncover Scaramouche's plans. I also don't think it was Childe since I'm pretty sure if he knew the traveler was on the case of finding this paper as well, he would most likely try to weasel his way into the detective party we had going on. Unless he actually found the paper, memorized its contents and put it back into the bonsai pot. But it does feel odd to think Scaramouche would be too dumb to find the paper and leave empty-handed. So, it could just be some unnamed Fatui working under Childe as well.
As for the whole Musou Isshin connection, I think it would make more sense is Yoshinori wasn't adopted by the Kaedehara family. The Kaedehara clan was already known to be practicing the Isshin art. If Scara wanted the Isshin art to continue, he wouldn't have attacked Yoshinori in the first place. His connection to "Niwa" would be irrelevant. He could have attacked them just for the sake of the final message that he wanted to deliver to the Shogun, about him being Kunikuzushi and all. But then, him even asking about "Niwa" was odd.
My crack theory is that Niwa could have been some sort of an inside guy helping Scara on his revenge. But got caught and imprisoned by the Tenryo commission. For the sake of not creating unrest, they covered up the story and let everyone think that he just disappeared. Niwa never revealed who he was helping out and was kept in jail for it. So, in an attempt to free Niwa, Scara devised this plan. He attacked Yoshinori and asked him to deliver that message to clear the name of Niwa. He felt saving him was more important than his revenge quest and revealed himself for the first time ever. But it didn't work. They either never released Niwa or he somehow died in confinement.

About the kaedehara thief in iradori festival that ayato told us.. Yes, I agree with you. I think its not him (scaramouche) along with his sidekick, while since he got the gnosis, he's a fugitive of harbinger and all fatui. Maybe there are other parties who really want to bury the traces of the kaedehara clan and there is a dark history that coincides with the scaramouche's past. That little man.. since he left behind his grudge when Kazuha's great grandfather was saved, he doesn't care about his past anymore. He also doesn't care if he gets caught by the Raiden shogun or not

the relation to the schools of the raiden gokaden and the meanings of the names as stated in the video had me thinking about the watatsumi questline for the key of the moon bathed deep. could it be that there is also some sort of key that scaramouche needs as well which is why he kept at least one of the remaining schools alive? just a random thought
